March ipsy bag - Trés Jolie

ipsy sends out a glam bag with 4-5 samples and a makeup bag for $10 a month with shipping included. If you sign up yearly it's $110 which brings the price down the $9.16 a month with shipping included.  I've been with them since 2011 and this is one subscription I am for sure keeping. They constantly have a high product value with products that I use.

Price: $10 a month with no option to skip. Discount offered for a yearly subscription.

This subscription is available to the US and Canada and ships from Harrisburg, NC.

***I have 2 invites for a free glam bag. It's for first time subscribers only!***

The good:

The packaging: Each month the products come in a cute makeup bag for all your goodies.

Discounts: The almost always offer a discount on any additional purchases you want to make.

Semi-customized: You take a little quiz and your bag is semi-customized with products you will enjoy.

Points: You can earn points for reviews and referrals. You can redeem points for extra goodies in your bag.

The not so good:

Skip a month? There is no option to skip a month.  You have to cancel.

Renewal. If your a yearly subscriber they automatically charge your credit card for another year when the paid for year is up. I think they should sent out an email prior reminding you that your year is almost up and it will automatically renew.

Contents of ipsy bag w/approximate value:

.84oz. Neogen Coconut Milk Cleanser Value = $6.33

1oz. Cake Desserted Island Supreme Body Mousse. Value = $1.72

.034oz. Tarte Tartiest matte lipstick in Rose. Value = $12.00

.05oz. Doucce Freematic Eyeshadow in Marissa. Value = $10.00

Chella Tweezers.  Value = $20.00

blush colored foldover makeup bag.

The approximate value of this months bag is approximately $50.05.  I'm pretty happy with this bag. The only thing I don't care for is the matte lipstick. I like the color but matte lipsticks don't look great on me. I like the size of the eyeshadow and the color. Can someone tell me why tweezers are so expensive? I will definitely use these, mostly likely I'll put them in my travel bag/

Verdict: I'm happy with this bag. I love the actual bag, it's super cute.

Discount: They offer a discount if you want to purchase an item from your box.

The not so good:

Price: This is one of the higher priced subscriptions but the products are usually high end.

Skip: Their website is not user friendly.  I couldn't find an option to skip or cancel.

Products: You are likely to end up with products you won't use. The good news is the value is so high it's usually still a good value.

I work nights and I'm always looking for something to help me sleep. I can't wait to try the Hum nutrition melatonin. I currently use Dream Water products but I'm always open to trying something new. I was hoping the blotterazzi would come in the compact like they sell online - it would help keep it clean in my purse.

Verdict: Great box for full size and high end products.

Quarterly: This is nice because monthly boxes can cause overload.

The total value of the summer FabFitFun box is $374.00. As a yearly subscriber I was able to choose which jewelry item I wanted. I've been wanting to try the climber earrings for awhile so I picked those. You could also pay a little bit more and get both jewelry items! I was hoping to be able to customize the roundie, the lipstick and the pouch. Unfortunately for me I received my least favorite designs in each item. I'm sure I can do a little trading though. The lipstick color will probably be ok but I was hoping to get the red cause I've been kind of feeling reds lately. I'm super happy about the Luv AJ earrings though. I've been wanting to try this style for awhile. I'm also stoked about the leave-in conditioning spray and the Dr. Brandt - two of my favorite things

Verdict: Overall this quarters box was great and well worth the money!

The good:

Variety: You get a lot of variety in each box.

Discounts: You can earn points for discounts off future full size product purchases by submitting reviews on their website or referring new members.

The not so good:

I really can't think of anything I don't like about this box.

March Love with Food box.

I didn't do a breakdown of this box. If you look at my previous reviews they usually come in at the $8-$10 range. This box is just a great box if you like snacks and trying new snacks. I've discovered quite a few things that we now purchase because of these boxes. Also LWF makes it easy because you can order direct from their website.

Verdict:  This Love with Food box had some yummy items in it.

Love to cook: If you love cooking with new foods and spices this a fun way to do it.

Know someone who loves to cook: This makes a great gift!

Price: $6 is a great low price.

Reduce waste: It's such a terrible thing to buy a jar of spice and have it go to waste. This allows you to try the spice without buying a whole jar.

The not so good:

Buy: I really want them to have a shop on their website where you can purchase more spices you like.

The good:

Semi-customizable: You rate items and that's how they choose which items to send you.

Special Diet or preference: You can choose from high protein, low carb, low sugar, low calories, savory, sweet treats, etc.

Gift: This is a great gift for a college student. I just send one to the teenager because she is always raiding our stash when she comes over.

The not so good:

Price: The costs ends up being $1.50 per package.  You're paying for convenience but I gotta be honest it was super convenient to pick up a pack and throw it in my lunch bag this morning.

March Graze Box

Contents of box:

White chocolate with blueberry toasts.

Salted fudge and peanut cookie.

Fantastic forest fruits.

Cocoa and vanilla protein flapjack.

March Robb Vices box

Robb Vices is a monthly subscription box focused on exceptional products, food, accessories, etc. Each box is curated and comes with a booklet that tells the story of the items in the box. This box is for those who enjoy the finer things and appreciate the history or story behind it. I only say that because this box is not inexpensive. The price is $74.95 per month plus shipping. I subscribe to the Robb Report and very much enjoy reading it. If you subscribe to the magazine the offer a discount on the box. I researched previous boxes and liked what I saw so I subscribed.

Price: $74.95 per month plus shipping w/discounts for 3, 6, and 12 month subscriptions.

The Good:

Products: The products are high end, artisan and great quality.

Information: The include booklet is a wealth of information on the products.

Referral Program: Refer 3 friends and get a free box.

Alcohol: Sometimes they include alcohol which I'm a big fan of.

The Not So Good:

Price: The price is high for a monthly box of surprise items.

Auto-Renew. I don't care much for auto-renew especially on a box with a high price tag.

March Robb Vices box

Contents of the Robb Vices Box:

750ml Ancho Reyes Ancho Chile Liquor. Value = $34.99

Melissa's Produce Dried Oaxacan Chiles. Value = $6.00

Melissa's Produce Dried Ghost Peppers. Value = $??

9 oz. NW Elixirs Hott Sauce Co. Hott Jolokia No. 5. Value = $12.00

8oz. Hank Sauce Cilanktro. Value = $14.00

8oz. Royal Rose Three Chile Simple Syrup. Value = $9.50

2oz. Righteous Felon Jerky Cartel Habanero Escobar. Value = $10.00

1.5oz. Little Bird Kitchen Fire Bark. Value = $6.99

Fuller Foods Seriously Cheesy Puffs. Value = $6.00

50ml bottle Reyka Vodka. Value = $3.99

50ml bottle Flor de Cana rum. Value = $2.99?

50ml bottle Tullamore Dew Irish Whiskey. Value = $2.99

The total value of this box is $110.00. I love the Robb Vices box but was a little bummed when I opened this box. I'm not a fan of hot sauces or ghost chiles or anything spicy. After rummaging around the box though I did find some cool stuff to try and of course alcohol is always appreciated. I was scared to try the habanero jerky but surprisingly it wasn't too spicy. I was also apprehensive to try the cheesy puffs. At first they were ok but the spice sneaks up on you. The booklet this month came with recipes for the alcohol but I think I want to try this little guys straight up to really experience the flavor. I'm a big fan of cilantro and this sauce says it's mild.

Verdict: This Robb Vices box wasn't my favorite but it had some new things to try.

Quarterly Co. Culinary Box #YUM06

Quarterly Co. is a slightly different kind of subscription box company.  The way it works is you pick a contributor you would like to receive a curated gift from anywhere from $50-$100 and every 3 months you will receive your item in the mail from them.  With each gift you receive the story behind it. This subscription is for the Culinary box. Each shipment is curated by a different person in the food field. The last shipment was curated by Chef Niki Nakayama.

This months box featured chefs Francine Stephens & Andrew Feinberg owners of Franny's in New York.

Price $75 every 3 months.

The good:

Variety: There are lots of different curators to choose from.

Something different: This is definitely different from other subscription companies

Commitment issues? Don't want to make a monthly commitment but still want a treasure?  You can get a quarterly treasure.

The not so good:

Don't like waiting: If you don't like waiting this may be torture for you.

Quarterly Co. Culinary Box #YUM06

Contents of box with approximate retail price:

Franny's Cookbook. Value = $23.79 on Amazon

Azienda Agricolo Caravaclio Capers. Value = $9.25

Katz Sauvignon Blanc Vinegar. Value = $12.00

Grob Meersalz Trapani Salt. Value = $3.50

Rosenthal dried red pepper flakes. Value = $10.50

Gustarosso San Marzano Tomatoes. Value = $6.90

Recipe for basic tomato sauce.

The approximate value of this box is $65.00. That's a very approximate value because some of the prices I had to convert from Euro and some of the items were very hard to find. I am on salt overload right now. This is the second large bag of salt I received in a subscription box. Not to mention the little jars. I also have salt blocks that when they break down you can grind into salt flakes. I love a good cookbook and I'm hoping this one is filled with more fresh Italian food than pasta type Italian food. From the picture it looks like it. I'm also a big fan of vinegar so I'll be using this little sauv blanc bottle for sure. Capers aren't my favorite thing to eat but I like them as a garnish. I probably won't use the red pepper flakes. I have a big jar already and I'm not a spicy food person so a little goes a long with me.

Verdict: This box has great Italian theme. I can't wait to make the tomato sauce.
