Quarterly Co. Culinary Box #YUM06

Quarterly Co. is a slightly different kind of subscription box company.  The way it works is you pick a contributor you would like to receive a curated gift from anywhere from $50-$100 and every 3 months you will receive your item in the mail from them.  With each gift you receive the story behind it. This subscription is for the Culinary box. Each shipment is curated by a different person in the food field. The last shipment was curated by Chef Niki Nakayama. 

This months box featured chefs Francine Stephens & Andrew Feinberg owners of Franny's in New York. 

Price $75 every 3 months.

The good:

Variety: There are lots of different curators to choose from.

Something different: This is definitely different from other subscription companies

Commitment issues? Don't want to make a monthly commitment but still want a treasure?  You can get a quarterly treasure. 

The not so good:

Don't like waiting: If you don't like waiting this may be torture for you.

Franny's Cookbook. Value = $23.79 on Amazon

Azienda Agricolo Caravaclio Capers. Value = $9.25

Katz Sauvignon Blanc Vinegar. Value = $12.00

Grob Meersalz Trapani Salt. Value = $3.50

Rosenthal dried red pepper flakes. Value = $10.50

Gustarosso San Marzano Tomatoes. Value = $6.90

The approximate value of this box is $65.00. That's a very approximate value because some of the prices I had to convert from Euro and some of the items were very hard to find. I am on salt overload right now. This is the second large bag of salt I received in a subscription box. Not to mention the little jars. I also have salt blocks that when they break down you can grind into salt flakes. I love a good cookbook and I'm hoping this one is filled with more fresh Italian food than pasta type Italian food. From the picture it looks like it. I'm also a big fan of vinegar so I'll be using this little sauv blanc bottle for sure. Capers aren't my favorite thing to eat but I like them as a garnish. I probably won't use the red pepper flakes. I have a big jar already and I'm not a spicy food person so a little goes a long with me. 

Verdict: This box has great Italian theme. I can't wait to make the tomato sauce.
