PopSugar Must Have Special Edition - Neiman Marcus

Recently PopSugar put up their Neiman Marcus special edition box. This box is the most expensive box they offer priced at $250!! The first year they offered this box which was 2013 they promised a value of at least $600. In 2014 and this year they didn't give a promised value but last year the value was just over $650. As always I debated on getting the box this year because it's so darn expensive. I went ahead and ordered it hoping I would get some gifts out of it.

All the special edition boxes come in a black box which I re-purposed to hold my stamping supplies. Each item in the box is wrapped in black tissue paper.

This tray was a spoiler and it's awesome!

Other treasures from the box and yes that is my dog sniffing everything. I think she smelled the chocolate.

This is the chocolate my dog was after. Also the agate clock.

The clock portion can be removed and made into a picture frame.

Contents of the PopSugar Neiman Marcus box with retail price:

Vosges Haut-Chocolat Organic Peanut Butter BonBons Box. Value = $24.00

Eddie Borgo Small Chain Tassel Pendant Necklace 20" long in Rhodium plated brass. Value = $125.00

Rablabs Cele Clock. Value = $100.00

Super by RetroSuperFuture in Classic Black. Value = $159.00-$189.00

Deborah Lippmann Nail Lacquer Set with A Fine Romance, Dark Side of the Moon and Stairway to Heaven. Value = $24.00

Kevyn Aucoin The Look Book. Value = $45.00

Mela Artisans Fantasy Decorative Tray in Grey made from natural bone. Value = $130.00

The total value of this special edition box is about $607.00. I think this is a great Neiman Marcus box. All of the items in the box are upscale what I could call indulgent. I am totally in love with the tray. It's much more elegant and beautiful than the picture shows. It's a very sturdy tray with felt feet. This is going to be perfect tray for parties or even setting some decorative candles on. I also love the clock and even better it matches my living room colors. I'm not sure where I'm going to put it because the clock is too small the read from a distance. I was actually thinking of taking the clock out and somehow attaching it to my bathroom mirror and using the frame. I'm a fan of Deborah Lippmann polish and these colors are very winterish. I also love the necklace. To me it looks like a silver jellyfish and I love jellies. I'm on the fence about the makeup palette. I like it but I would probably only use the eyeshadow which seems like a waste of a palette. I might trade this for something else. I'm not to into the sunglasses. I have polarized lenses on my current sunglasses and I can't go back to regular ones. I'm sure I'll be able to make a trade for these - maybe another tray! It would make a wonderful gift!

Verdict: This box definitely had a great value and I am very happy with it.

GlossyBox - Special Edition Holiday

Every year GlossyBox has a holiday limited edition box. The price of the box is $40 with a promised value of over $190 and 6 products. They always show you what is in the box which is nice and since it had some items I knew I would use I picked it up. It also didn't hurt that because I'm a GlossyBox subscriber they sent me a coupon for $10 off.

This is currently sold at GlossyBox.

Five of the six items from the holiday GlossyBox.

I love this palette!

Contents of the 2015 Holiday GlossyBox:

Ardency Inn Modster Smooth Ride Eyeliner in black. Value = $19.00

Pure Cosmetics Glossygloss in Pouty Pink. Value = $20.00

Trust Fund Beauty nail polish in Socialite. Value = $15.00

L'Atelier Maquillage Mascara. Value = $30.00

Nuxe Dry Oil. Value = $45.00

Aerin Kaleidolight Palette. Value = $70.00

The total value of this holiday box is $199.00. Not a bad deal for $30.00! The only thing in this box I probably won't use the lip gloss. I just have so many lip sticks and glosses I can't keep up. I am super happy about the dry oil and the instructions say you can also use it on your hair and face. That tells me it must be nice and light and not greasy. The second item I love is the Aerin palette. This can be used as blush or eyeshadow. The best part is I can swirl my blush brush across the top and add just a touch of color. The picture doesn't do the nail polish justice. It's a really pretty metallic lilac color.

Verdict: I thought it was a great deal for $30 but even at $40 it's a steal.

Graze Sharing Box

You guys know what a big fan of Graze I am. Well in addition to their snack size boxes they also have sharing boxes. I decided to give the sharing box a try. The graze sharing box has 5 bags (20 portions) of snacks. Just like the snack boxes you don't get to choose which snacks they send but you can pick which snacks you would like to get. You can order this as a one time box or recurring subscription.

Price: $25.00. This subscription ships to the US only, except Hawaii and Alaska.

The good:

Like Snacks and have a family: These boxes are better if you have multiple people snacking.

Semi-customizable: You rate items and that's how they choose which items to send you.

Gift: This is a great gift for a college student.

The not so good:

I can't think of anything except you might get a big bag of something you don't like.

Graze - Sharing Box

Contents of box:

Tuscan Pesto Kern Pops.

Lemon Drizzle Flapjack.

Sour Cream Onion Cashews.

Salted Fudge & Peanut Cookie.

Scrumptious Blueberry Swirl.

I was doing the happy dance when I saw a whole big bag of the lemon flapjacks! I love, love, love the lemon flapjacks!

Verdict: I'm really liked the stuff I got from this sharing box. I might order these every now and then but I'm going to keep my regular graze subscription for the convenience.

November Bespoke Post - Frost

Bespoke Post is a monthly subscription box that is geared towards men.  Why they say it's for men is beyond me cause I think lots of woman would love their products.  Maybe it's a marketing thing to get more men to buy and the women don't care if it says it's for men they will buy it anyway.

Bespoke Post advertises their subscription service as a monthly box of awesome.  The way is works is like this.  You subscribe by giving them your email address.  This doesn't obligate you to anything but it will give you the ability to look at the available boxes. If you like the box you can purchase it, if you don't then do nothing.  The price of the box is $45.00 w/shipping included. Once you purchase a box you will get an email every month for that months box. If you decide you don't like that box just skip but make sure and do so by the 5th of the month.  If you don't skip you get a credit towards a future box.

I haven't received a box from Bespoke Post since July 2014. That shows you how easy it is to skip.

Price: $45 a month/with skip option.

This box ships to the US, Canada and Hawaii. Canadian shipping is an extra $10-$20 and Hawaii is $10.

The good:

Know what your getting: $45 is a lot to spend on a surprise so Bespoke let's you know what the expect and you decide if you want it or not

Don't like the box you received: Bespoke lets you return your box for a refund or credit.  How awesome is that.

Skip a month: don't want any of the boxes, trying to save money - just skip the month

The not so good:

I really can't think of anything

Bespoke Post - The Barber

Contents of the Bespoke Post box w/approximate retail value:

Gilded Age lambskin touchscreen gloves. Value = $139.00

Fisherman's Friend Lozenges. Value = $3.19

Wild Harvested white pine hand salve. Value = $18.00

The total value of my Bespoke Post box is $160.19. As you can see these gloves have a super high value. Even if you don't think they are worth $139.00 they are certainly worth $24. The outside if lambskin which is super soft and the inside is a cashmere/wool blend. Additionally the thumb and pointer finger have conductive patches so you can use your phone while wearing them. When I saw these I knew I had to get them. The boyfriend thought it was odd I was measuring his hand but didn't ask too many questions so I think he will be surprised.

Verdict: This was a fantastic box and I can't wait for him to open the gloves on Christmas.

The have a weird kind of texture but if you're gluten free and want a snickerdoodle then these are yummy. The barkTHINS are super delicious, but how can you go wrong with dark chocolate and almonds. I'm a fan of the Balance bars for a quick snack. I'm not too sure about the Cafix packet but I'm willing to try it. I really hope I can find the Tres Pupas products because I would definitely be interesting in trying them.

Verdict: This box had just an ok value but delicious products to try!

I like mattifying face products so I'm excited to try this fig & rouge product. Anything to take the shine off!

Verdict: This is the box I've subscribed to the longest and it's still going strong.

November GlossyBox

GlossyBox is a monthly subscription box for beauty items. Each month GlossyBox will send a box of 5 beauty products in a pink reusable box. I mention the box because it's very sturdy with minimal branding on it and can be reused for a multitude of things. I've reused them for packing gifts, storing jewelry and beauty items.

Price: $21 a month with discounts for 6 and 12 month subscriptions.

When I signed up I used a promo code which brought it down to about $15 a month.

The Good:

Sizes: deluxe sample size and usually 1 or 2 full size items.

The Box: I love the box the items come in!

Information: They provide information on each product with price.

Free Stuff: You can earn GlossyDots for reviewing items in the box and referrals. One you get enough GlossyDots you can redeem them for a free box.

The Not So Good:

The total value of the GlossyBox is $39.25. This is actually kind of low for this box. I'm excited about the eyeshadow, the hand cream and the facial mask. The lip pencil is the high dollar item in the box  but I don't ever use lip pencils. I'm sure I'll be able to trade it though.

Verdict: This box has was a 3 out of 5 for me. I will use 3 of the items but the other 2 not so much.

Love to cook: If you love cooking with new foods and spices this a fun way to do it.

Know someone who loves to cook: This makes a great gift!

Reduce waste: It's such a terrible thing to buy a jar of spice and have it go to waste. This allows you to try the spice without buying a whole jar.

The not so good:

Skip: I don't see an option to skip or pause your subscription.

Buy: I really want them to have a shop on their website where you can purchase more spices you like.

I can't wait to try this menu. For some reason in the last month Ethiopian food and how good it is has been a topic of conversation. I've never had it but I'm certainly willing to try it.

Verdict: I think this is a great subscription and I'm really enjoying the new spices.

French Box contains, you guessed it, French items! This box ships every other month instead of monthly. French Box guarantees at least 5 products in each box but not always beauty items. They charge your card about a week before the box ships and you can cancel anytime.

Price: $36 every 2 months.

This is available to the 48 states (sorry Alaska and Hawaii) and ships from Miami Florida.

The good:

Foreign Beauty: If you are into French items that you might not be able to easily find in the US then this box is fun.

Variety: Not just beauty products, there was also food and home goods in the box.

Packaging: The box everything arrives in is really cute and worth
keeping.

Skip: You can put your account on suspend up to 2 times in a 12 month period.

The not so good:

Price: It's on the higher side but they value is definitely there.

November French Box

Contents of the French Box

30 ml oOlution Glow Up moisturizer. Value = $22.20

Too French Bulldog pouch. Value = $15.00

3.4 oz. Lanvin Shampoo.Value = $14.00

3.4 oz. Lanvin Conditioner. Value = $14.00

Chocolate Macaroon Mix. Value = $14.00

1.35 oz. Sothys Hydroptimale THI3 Foundation. Value = $36.00

The total value of this French Box is $115.20. I am pretty happy with this box. The makeup pouch is super cute and a good size. I wish I knew someone with a Frenchie that I could gift this to. I'm all about luxurious shampoos and conditioners so I happy to see the Lanvin in the box. I was also super happy about the macaroons until I realized it was a mix and I had to make them. I wanted to eat one right then, not wait. I hope they turn out good though, I've never seen boxed macaroon mix. I don't normally wear foundation but I know Sothys is a great product so I might give this one a try.

Verdict: I was going to cancel this last month but curiosity got the best of me and I wanted to see what this month had in it. I really liked this months box but I think I'm still going to cancel.

Quarterly Co. Culinary box #YUM02

Quarterly Co. is a slightly different kind of subscription box company.  The way it works is you pick a contributor you would like to receive a curated gift from anywhere from $50-$100 and every 3 months you will receive your item in the mail from them.  With each gift you receive the story behind it. This subscription is for the Culinary box. Each shipment is curated by a different person in the food field. The last shipment was Food52 and this one is curated by Andrew Zimmern. I had canceled my Andrew Zimmern box awhile ago because they were just ok in my world. I was curious if this box would be the same as the others.

This months box was curated by Andrew Zimmern.

Price $50 every 3 months.

The good:

Variety: There are lots of different curators to choose from.

Something different: This is definitely different from other subscription companies

Commitment issues? Don't want to make a monthly commitment but still want a treasure?  You can get a quarterly treasure.

The not so good:

Don't like waiting: If you don't like waiting this may be torture for you.

#YUM02 Andrew Zimmern

Sticker from MPLS/STP Clothing Company.

Contents of box with approximate retail price:

Joia Soda in orange, jasmine and nutmeg. Value = $1.66

11 oz. Peace Coffee Blue Ox Blend. Value = $11.00

Sota Clothing Coffee Mug. Value = $12.50

Sturdiwheat's Buckwheat Pancake Mix. Value = $5.99

Lucille's Kitchen Raspberry Pepper Jam. Value = $7.00

Seven Sundays Muesli in blueberry, chia buckwheat. Value = $ 5.50

MPLS/STP Clothing Company Minnesota Sticker. Value = $1.00

The approximate value of this box is $44.65. Andrew Zimmern is from Minnesota and you can see this box has a Minnesota theme. All of these products are new to me and I was shocked at how much I liked the muesli. I've had muesli before and didn't care for it but this one is delicious! I've been eating it every morning for breakfast. The coffee smells absolutely delicious and as soon as the bag i have is gone I'm going to open this one up. I think the red pepper jam would go well over a round of brie. I'm thinking I'm going to save this for the holidays. I don't eat a lot of pancakes but I'll give these buckwheat ones a try. I wonder if you could make muffins with the mix? The coffee cup is ok, we have so many right now we've run out of room in the cupboard. The sticker is kinda funny and I have a friend from Minnesota that I think I will pass this along to.

Verdict: This box was just ok, not overly exciting.

November BeautyFIX by Dermstore box

The Blush Beauty Mystery Box is now called BeautyFIX by Dermstore. I'm not sure why the name is changed but everything else seems to be pretty much the same. Each month Dermstore will send out a BeautyFIX box filled with skin care, makeup and hair care with a value of at least $100. The price on the website shows $34.95 but if you sign up for a monthly subscription the price is $24.95. Both prices include shipping. Also if you subscribe your first month is half price making it $12.48 for your first box.

Price: $24.95-$34.95 a month with no option to skip.

Ships to US only, Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico additional shipping charges apply.

The good:

Price: They send great products with a value of at least $100 that's 3-4 times the price of the box.

Want more: Since they have a retail website reordering is easy and all these products were easily found.

Referrals: If you refer someone that person gets $10 off a purchase of $30 or more and you get $10.

Discount: They offer a discount if you want to purchase an item from your box.

The not so good:

Price: This is one of the higher priced subscriptions but the products are usually high end.

Skip: Their website is not user friendly.  I couldn't find an option to skip or cancel.

Referrals: It's not a clickable link for referrals. You have to send an invite via email.

November BeautyFIX Box

Contents of BeautyFIX w/approximate retail price from Dermstore listed:

2 oz. Éminence Stone Drop Hydrating Mist. Value = $18.09

.5 oz. Ren Glycol Lactic Radiance Renewal Mask. Value = $16.47

.17 oz. Glytone Antioxidant Anti-Aging Night Cream. Value = $12.20

FULL SIZE Oscar Blandi Pronto Dry Teasing Dust. Value = $23.00

The total value of of this BeautyFIX box is $114.41. This box was ok. I was excited to see the Rocca hand cream in my favorite scent. I'm almost out so this came just in time. I like the color of the nail polish. I had a pedicure the other day and I picked a silver color. I was surprised at how much I liked it on my toes. I can't believe the little container of Oscar Blandi teasing dust is so expensive. It feels like there is nothing in there. I'm always looking for ways to get volume in my hair. I'm curious to see how this works. I find that I like hydrating mist, especially when traveling. It's amazing how much planes will dry you out.

Verdict: This months box had a great value and a few new items for me to try.

Inkdot Gift Card . Value = $20.00.

The value of this box is $132.95 or 152.95 with the gift card. Inkdot has items under $20 so the out of pocket cost would be shipping. I absolutely love the crystal headband but I'm not sure it's worth $56. It's really pretty though! I'm a big mustard fan and I can't wait to find something to try this with. I also really like the tarte eyeshadow quad. They are perfect colors for winter. The candle is really nice and I like how you can reuse it after it's burned. I'm not sure I would use it as a jewelry box but it's really cute. I think I might save it for a gift. I'm not sure what to do with the Bingo set. I personally love bingo but I think I'm the minority in my group of friends. If you have a big family or friendsgiving this would be fun to get little gifts (maybe from subscription boxes) and play a few rounds of bingo.

Verdict: This months PopSugar was an ok box.

The Good:

Luxury products: The boxes are filled with name brands that would be considered luxurious.

Variety: This box isn't just beauty products. It will have jewelry, apparel, home goods, etc.

Information: They include their own magazine that talks about the products in the box as well as other products.

Pricing Structure: They offer one-time, monthly or yearly subscriptions. It would be nice to see a 6 month (3 box) subscription tier.

The Not So Good

Price: The price is way high but at the same time you will hopefully get what you pay for.

Referrals: I would like to see a referral program. If you can convince someone to spend this much money on a box you should get a little thank you treasure.

Every month has a little saying in the box.

All the OuiPlease Treasures.

Close up of the bracelet.

This is what was rolled up in the first pic. It's a scarf with my initials on the tag.

Contents of the Volume 1.5 OuiPlease Box:

Salome Charly Trie Bracelet. Value = $50.00

Concept Provence Body Scrub. Value = $20.00

Sencha & Bourbon hand dyed scarf personalized with my initials. Value = $120.00

Historiae Paris Rose De France Candle. Value = $50.00

Historiae Paris Orangeries Du Roy Purse Spray. Value = $40.00

Groupe Savor Créations Mustard. Value = $15.00

L'Attelier Roasted Almonds. Value = $15.00

La Route des Comptoirs Rooibos Tea. Value = $30.00

The value of this box is $340.00. I thought the scarf was super cool since it had my initials on it. I like the colors also and that it's dyed naturally. The bracelet is ok but I don't like things to chunky on my wrist since I spend my day typing. I'll put it in the trade basket. The almonds a super delicious and I haven't tried the mustard yet but I'm a big fan of mustard. I have at least 5 kinds in my fridge. I'm also a fan of rooibos tea. I like the purse spray for it's portability but I'm not sure I like the scent. I need to spray it on my skin before making a final decision. It's amazing how scents change on your skin.

Verdict: It's a lot of money but it definitely has value.
