September Cricut Premium Mystery Box

Cricut is a personal electronic cutting machine used in card making, scrapbooking, and crafting of all types. Cricut started selling mystery boxes which when they contain the cartridges are a terrific value! The cartridges that are needed to use the machine run anywhere from $20-$50 a piece. As you can see, adding to your collection of cartridges can add up quick.

The price of this months Cricut mystery box was $39.99 with free shipping. The box description is as follows:

The PREMIUM Mystery Box contains more cartridges than we have ever included in a single mystery box. The contents are mysterious (but worth the surprise).

The also had a regular mystery box available earlier this month but it included mostly products so I didn't order it.

This is still available so if you want one head on over to Cricut before they are gone.

Contents of box with prices from the Cricut website listed.
The first price is the regular price and the second price is the sale price listed.

Cricut Holidays Through the Year Iron-On. Value = $20.99

Cricut Anna Griffin Christmas Kitsch. Value = $20.99

Cricut  Creative Everyday Cards. Value = $20.99

Cricut Anna's Flourish Cards and Embellishments. Value = $20.99

Cricut Spring Fling. Value = $29.99

The total value of this box is $113.95. The holidays through the year is a dup for me but I've been selling my dupes on eBay so it works out okay. I've been stalking pinterest for ideas using all my cartridges. I'm determined to use them more this year.

Verdict: If you are into Cricut and don't have a lot of cartridges the mystery boxes with cartridges in them is a great deal.

FabFitFun Fall 2015 Box

FabFitFun is not a monthly subscription but quarterly meaning 4 times a year. Each season you will receive hand-picked, high-end and exclusive gifts including beauty, fashion and fitness products. The items are full sized and premium with a value of $200+. The cost of this box is $49.99 billed every 3 months.

Price: $49.99 every 3 months. Discount for yearly subscription.

This subscription in available in the US only and ships from Los Angeles, Ca.

The good:

The Products: You will receive mostly full size and premium products in each box and not just beauty items.

The Brands: They send well known premium brands

Quarterly: This is nice because monthly boxes can cause overload.

Info: They send a nice color information sheet that has all the product info and prices on it.

The not so good:

Price: The price is a sticker shock, but it's only 4 times a year as opposed to monthly.

The shipping box this month.

All the Fall FabFitFun Treasures.

Close up of the bracelet. I was able to pick the color since I'm a yearly subscriber.

This is an extra from the Purple Purse Foundation.

Contents of the FabFitFun box with approximate retail price/value:

Passport to Beauty Gold Radiance Luxury Facial Mask. Value = $65.00

FabFitFun and Tappan Collective Umbrella. Value = $32.00

Manna Kadar Cosmetics Lucky Lip StainValue = $24.00

Doctor D. Schwab Flawless Skin Fluid. Value = $39.00

HISY Battery Pack in Pink. Value = $24.99

Merrithew Strength Tubing Ankle & Total Body Tone DVD. Value = $33.00

Tribe Alive Glass Crystal Bead Bracelet. Value = $49.00

Allstate Foundation Purple Purse Purple Purse Charm. Value = $10.00

Jeweler's Wife $15 Gift Card. Value = $15.00

Picture It On Canvas $75 Gift Card. Value = $75.00

Sponsored Item

Crest 3D White Brilliance 2-Step System. Value = $??

The total value of the first FabFitFun box is $276.99. I didn't count the value of the gift cards because both of them will have an out of pocket expense, although not much. I was able to pick the colors of 3 of the items I received because I'm a yearly subscriber. I picked the color of the umbrella, the charger and the bracelet. The face mask looks absolutely decadent and priced at $30 each it better be a miracle worker. I have a couple of the portable chargers already but I guess another one wouldn't hurt, I could keep it in my car. I don't usually use workout DVD's because I belong to a gym but I've debating on canceling my gym membership. It's so expensive and my schedule gets so crazy I just don't feel like I use it enough for the price I pay. I'm going to give this DVD a try and see what happens. I thought the purple tassle purse charm was really cute and a great idea. I went onto their website and saw they also sell a purple purse but it was quite expensive.

Verdict: This box was fun and I will use most everything except the umbrella. I'm in drought ridden California so who knows if I'll ever see rain again.

Fall Walmart Beauty Box

Walmart recently ventured into the subscription box market with a beauty box. The box will be shipped 4 times a year for spring, summer, fall and winter. The best part of this box is the price. Ready for it? It's just $5 per shipment to cover shipping and handling costs. Yep it's only $5 per box. My guess is these are brands that Walmart has a contract with and they probably get the items for free which is why the box is only $5 to cover shipping costs.

Price: $5 per season shipped 4 times a year.

The Good:

Price: $5, doesn't get much lower than that.

Drugstore brands: I love getting luxury products but they can be pricey to buy. This box will contain items that can be found at Walmart which means reasonably priced.

The Not So Good:

Drugstore brands: If you're not into drugstore brands then this is probably not the box for you.

Fall Walmart Beauty Box

Contents of the Walmart Beauty Box with Walmart prices listed:

FULL SIZE Roc Deep Wrinkle Serum. Value = $15.98

Schick Hydro Silk Disposable RazorValue = $3.00

1 oz. ACT Mouthwash. Value = $1.00?

.7 oz. Curél Rough Skin Rescue. Value = $1.00?

.5 oz. Dove Anti-Perspirant DeodorantValue = $3.04

1 oz. John Frieda 7 Day Volume. Value = $2.50

.14 oz. Nivea Extended Moisture 48hr Lotion. Value = $0.04

Sample of Crest 3D White Brillance Gel System. Value = $??

The total value of the Walmart box is $26.56. This box was ok. The big value item in the box is the wrinkle serum and I know I'm 40 years old but honestly I don't have wrinkles. I guess it's something I could use proactively to help prevent wrinkles but I don't typically use products like this. I will use all the other stuff except the anti-perspirant  because I'm allergic to one of the ingredients in it. I'll toss it in the giveaway basket at work. I'm sure someone will use it.

Verdict: This box isn't as great as others have been but still worth $5.

September GlossyBox

GlossyBox is a monthly beauty subscription service that sends 5 travel size beauty items a month.  You can sign up monthly for $21/month, 6 months for $115 (breaks down to $19.16/month), or yearly for $220 (breaks down to $18.33/month).  Shipping is included in these prices. The price is higher than a lot of the other beauty companies but they include luxury items in their boxes. The company ships their boxes towards the end of the month so you will receive it at the end of the month or the beginning of the following month.

Price: $21 a month with discounts for 6 and 12 month subscriptions.

This subscription is available in the US (not including Alaska or Hawaii), Austria, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, Poland, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Taiwan and the United Kingdom.

The good:

The brands: They have well known quality brands like OPI, Zoya, Burberry, C.O. Bigelow, Ahava, Sebastian and other brands specific to other countries.

The sizes: They send deluxe size samples and usually at least one full  size item.

The box: I know it's just a box but it's a really nice sturdy box. The regular boxes are pink and the special collaboration boxes vary in design in color. It's a perfect box for reusing to store items or for a gift.

Information. They provide information on the products you receive and how much the full size is priced at.  I like knowing this info up front and not having to search for it.

Free stuff: If you provide feedback on your products you earn glossydots which will eventually earn you a free box. You can also earn glossydots from referrals. You have to claim your free box before your subscription ends and becomes inactive. This can be tricky because you don't want to receive duplicate boxes.

The not so good:

The price: This can be a little high for some people but if you want to receive known/quality brands it's worth it.

Skip: There is no option to skip a month.

September GlossyBox

Contents of the GlossyBox with retail price:

FULL SIZE 12 Benefits Foaming Hair Shampoo. Value = $9.00

FULL SIZE Stiks Cosmetiks Lipstik in Red. Value = $15.00

.05 Biossanse The Revitalizer. Value = $2.50

FULL SIZE Emité Make Up Artist Colour Powder Blush Value = $22.00

.33 oz. Nails Inc. Uptown Nail Polish. Value = $9.50

The total value of this GlossyBox is $58.00. I love the shape design of the lipstick and the container but it's sooo red! I don't know if I can pull it off but it's worth a try. The nail polish color isn't too exciting but it's a nice neutral color. I've used the 12 benefits leave in conditioner and I liked it so I'm happy to try the foaming shampoo. The Biossanse is a squalane moisturizer. I'll use this at night before bedtime. I'm not to into the blush but I'm sure I'll be able to trade it.

Verdict: This box was ok, not fantastic but ok.

The good:

Products: Full size products as promised and a nice variety of beauty, home etc.

Booklet: The include an info booklet in each box about the products including the value.

Pricing structure: They have monthly, 3, 6 and yearly subscriptions.  Each one (except monthly) saves you a little bit of money.

Referrals: The offer a generous referral program.  Refer 2 people get a month free. 5 people 3 months free and 10 people is 6 months free.  I've was super lucky and 10 people used my referral link so I got 6 months free way back when I first started subscribing.

The not so good:

The price: $40 is a little high for a monthly box but you do get some really cool stuff with a value of way more than $40

Skip a month: There is no option to skip, only cancel.

Max Referrals: They only reward you for the first 10 referrals. I think they're referral program is very generous but I would like to see something beyond 10 referrals. Maybe some type of point system or discount. ***The referral counts are being reset soon so you will get to refer people again if you've maxed out****

September PopSugar Box

Contents of box with approximate retail price:

Hudson+Bleecker Labryinth Onyx Travel Trio. Value = $42.00

Kris Nations "XO" Stud Earrings. Value = $35.00

Too Faced Cosmetics Brow Envy Brow Shaping & Defining Kit.  Value = $39.00

Briogeo Rosarco Milk Reparative Leave-In Conditioning Spray. Value = $20.00

NCLA So Rich Vitamin-E Cuticle Oil. Value = $18.00

Nourish Snacks Almonds to Cherries. Value = $2.00

Coupon codes for $10 off your first box. - email me at
pixiepowered@hotmail.com if you want one of the codes.

The value of this box is $156.00. I think the Hudson+Blecker travel set is cute but I would never have paid $42 for it. I will totally use it though. I'm also a big fan of cuticle oil. I have a real problem with picking at my cuticles when they get dry so I try and keep them moisturized at all times. The nourish snack pack was very good. I liked the giant cherries in it. The "XO" earrings are super cute and could totally be worn everyday. I'm not sure I'll use the brow shaping kit, I'm challenged when it comes to filling in eyebrows. I'll probably trade it. I'll definitely use the Briogeo leave-in spray.

Verdict: This months PopSugar was a great box for me.

September Bestowed Box

Bestowed was created by nutritionist and author Heather Bauer in an effort to answer the question everyone had when it comes to health food.."which one of these is really the best?" Each month, Heather and her team of health and diet experts carefully curate 7-10 healthy snacks, beverages and lifestyle item and send them to you. Bestowed has also partnered with The Food Trust and for each box sold they supply a kid in need with a days worth of snacks. The price of this box is $20.00 a month with shipping included. They also have 3 and 6 month plans that offer a 10-15% discount.

Bestowed offered this box to me for review for a discounted price of $10.00

Price: $20 a month w/no option to skip. Discounts for 3 and 6 months prepaid plans.

This subscription is only available in the US and ships from New York.

Bestowed is offering 10% off any subscription using code LOVEHEALTHY.

The good:

Variety: I liked that there was some variety to this box. It wasn't just limited to food or products, you get both!

Good size samples: The samples are full size or close to it.

Information: They include a sheet with product info and tips on usage.

The not so good:

Skip a month: I didn't see an option to skip a month.

September Bestowed Box.

Contents of box with approximate retail value:

(2) .5 oz. Booster Blendz Packets. Value = $0.90/ea.

7-day pack Coromega Omega3 Squeeze Pack. Value = $4.99

gimME Roasted Seaweed Snacks. Value = $2.39

.88 oz. Lesser Evil Buddha Bowl Popcorn. Value = $1.39

Pacific Natural Foods Steel-Cut Oatmeal. Value = $3.19

Stash Tea Organic Very Berry Tea. Value = $0.25

Yummy Health YummySnack Bars. Value = $2.00

2 oz. Mrs. Meyers Dish Soap in Basil. Value = $0.50

The total value of this months box is $16.51. This is one of the better boxes I've received fro Bestowed. I think the value could be a little higher but the products are good. I was excited to try the steel-cut oatmeal buy what a disappointment. Maybe it was the flavor but I didn't care for this at all and I really like steel-cut oatmeal. What I was totally surprised at was the yummy health bar. It was kind of like a peppermint patty but healthy and not in a gross way. The popcorn and seaweed were delicious, two of my favorites.

Verdict: This box was delicious!

Target Beauty Box

Every now and then Target puts together a box of goodies and offers them for $5-$7.00 each. It's similar to the WalMart box except this doesn't have a set shipping schedule and you can't subscribe. Once they go on sale they are sold on a first come first serve basis and they sell out quick! This box was priced at $5.00 with shipping included.

The Good:

Price: You can't beat the price!

Contents: They tell you what's in the box before you order.

Like the products: They even include a coupon for $3 off a purchase at Target.

The Not So Good:

Goes Fast: This sells out super fast so you have to order quick.

Random: The boxes have no set schedule so you never know when they are going to be available.

Contents of the Target Beauty Box:

2 oz. Jane Carter Revitalizing Leave-In Conditioner. Value = $2.25

2 oz. Curls Créme Brule Whipped Curl Cream. Value = $2.75

FULLS SIZE Dove Quench Absolute Créme Serum. Value = $5.99

3.2 oz. SheaMoisture Jamaican Black Castor Oil. Value = $4.40

.25 oz. Aquaphor Healing Ointment. Value = $0.71

.75 oz. Colgate Optic White Toothpaste. Value = $1.00

Coupon for $3 off beauty purchase of $15 or more at Target.

The total value of this beauty box is $17.10. This is actually low for the Target beauty box but I still think it's a great deal. There are two items that are for curly hair, which I don't have. I'm wondering though if I can use the Dove product on my straight hair or would it weigh it down too much. All the other items I will definitely use.

Verdict: Great deal for $5.00 and you know what you're getting before hand.

September BeautyFIX Box

The Blush Beauty Mystery Box is now called BeautyFIX by Dermstore. I'm not sure why the name is changed but everything else seems to be pretty much the same. Each month Dermstore will send out a BeautyFIX box filled with skin care, makeup and hair care with a value of at least $100. The price on the website shows $34.95 but if you sign up for a monthly subscription the price is $24.95. Both prices include shipping. Also if you subscribe your first month is half price making it $12.48 for your first box.

Price: $24.95-$34.95 a month with no option to skip.

Ships to US only, Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico additional shipping charges apply.

The good:

Price: They send great products with a value of at least $100 that's 3-4 times the price of the box.

Want more: Since they have a retail website reordering is easy and all these products were easily found.

Referrals: If you refer someone that person gets $10 off a purchase of $30 or more and you get $10.

Discount: They offer a discount if you want to purchase an item from your box.

The not so good:

Price: This is one of the higher priced subscriptions but the products are usually high end.

Skip: Their website is not user friendly.  I couldn't find an option to skip or cancel.

Referrals: It's not a clickable link for referrals. You have to send an invite via email.

The total value of of this BeautyFIX box is $110.84. This box was a hit for me. I normally doesn't use any type of foundation but I don't mind the Dr. Brandt brand. It's not cakey and heavy. The Jane Iredale lip & cheek stain is such a cute little size. Perfect pocket size. I love the smell of the L'Occitane Verbena soap. I don't think I've ever heard of Sanitas skincare but I'm also liking the lemon cream scrub. I've also never tried Nia 24 sunscreen but since I where sunscreen everyday I'll definitely use it.

Verdict: This months box was full of full size products with a fantastic value.

The good:

Love to cook: If you love cooking with new foods and spices this a fun way to do it.

Know someone who loves to cook: This makes a great gift!

Price: $6 is a great low price.

Reduce waste: It's such a terrible thing to buy a jar of spice and have it go to waste. This allows you to try the spice without buying a whole jar.

The not so good:

Buy: I really want them to have a shop on their website where you can purchase more spices you like.

I'm not a lamb fan but I think I can use a lean mean in place of it. The crusted cauliflower looks absolutely delicious!

Verdict: I think this is a great subscription and I'm really enjoying the new spices.

The not so good:

September Allure Beauty Box.

Contents of box with approximate retail value.

.10 oz. Kaplan MD Cellular Rejuvenate Concentrate. Value = $17.00

.13 oz. Soap & Glory Pillow Plump XXL Lip Gloss in Pinkwell. Value = $5.60

Tangle Teezer Hairbrush. Value = $15.00

.85 oz. Caviar Alterna Replenishing Moisture Milk. Value = $5.00

.5 oz. Pixi Petra Glow Tonic Toner. Value = $1.75

Erno Laszlo Firmarine Bar Soap. Value = $2.88

.24 oz. Jane Iredale Smooth Affair Facial Primer & Brightener. Value = $6.70

The total value of this box is $53.93. I'm really liking all the Caviar products I've been getting, so far all like all of their products. I already have a tangle teezer brush so I think I will trade this one. I don't use the one I have because I have short hair and brushing it wet really isn't an issue for me. I also already have a Erno Laszlo bar but I think it's a different formula. I can't believe the Kaplan MD product is so expensive. I usually use some type of serum before bedtime so I'll add this to the mix of products. I wonder how long it takes to see results and will this be enough product. I'm not a fan of the lip gloss color, it's a little too pink for me. I think that put that in my giveaway basket at work. I'm a big fan of toners and this one says it's exfoliating. I'm not sure how that works but I'm willing to try it.

Verdict: This box was a good box for me.

September Blue Apron Meal Delivery Service

Blue Apron is a weekly delivery service of fresh ingredients to make meals. I've tried it a couple of times and done price breakdowns to see if it's worth the money or should I just go to the store and buy the stuff myself. What I figured out is you're not getting an incredible deal as far as getting more value than you paid but you are getting convenience and it doesn't cost much more than if you went and bought all the stuff yourself.

Blue Apron (named after the blue aprons apprentice chefs in France used to wear) sends fresh ingredients to make 3 meals that will serve 2-6 people each week. This is how is works. Once you sign up you can choose to receive meat and fish or vegetarian dishes and you choose how many servings (2,4 or 6) you want for each dish. You will receive 3 meals per week with enough ingredients for the servings you request. The prices vary depending on what you order. For 2 people it's $59.94, 4 people is $119.88 and 6 people is $179.82 per week with shipping included. This works out to $9.99 per meal per person. It's less than going to a restaurant but may more than going to the grocery store and getting the ingredients yourself. They send out the menus weekly and you can also log on to your account and skip deliveries 6-8 weeks in advance. I went into my account and skipped all the weeks because I would rather skip and miss something than forget to skip and get something I don't want. I can't justify getting this every week so I look at our calendar to see what kind of week is coming up and if the menu looks good and it's a busy week I will unskip the week. If it's not a busy week, the menu isn't my thing or we are going to be out of town I leave it as skipped.

Price: $60.00-$180 a week depending on size of box. Option to skip weeks.

The good:

Busy: This is great for busy people. The ingredients are fresh, on hand and the meals take on average 35 min to prepare.

Don't cook?: The included recipe cards are not only beautiful they have very easy to follow instructions complete with pictures.

Counting Calories: The calorie info is included and each meal is 500-700 per serving.

Ingredients: fresh ingredients from artisan purveyors with an emphasis on sustainable practices

Need a specific delivery day: You can choose between Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and even Saturday delivery. Also the food is well packed on ice packs in an insulated box.

The not so good:

Price: It's a bit pricey but you're paying for convenience.

Organic, free range, grass fed: I couldn't find anywhere where these types of items were used. I also went to the Tradesman Premium Cuts website and it looks like it's specific for Blue Apron but doesn't have a whole lot of info about it. I usually buy grass fed, free range meats because I think it taste better and I feel better about eating it.

Chicken Pad Kee Mao Ingredients

Salmon Burgers & Aioli Ingredients.

Late Summer Pork Bolognese ingredients.

Chicken Pad Kee Mao - I found this to be delicious! I loved the flavor that the thai basil and lime added. I'm saving this to make again someday.

Salmon Burgers & Aioli - I've made salmon burgers before so I knew what to expect from that. I wasn't sure I was going to like the arugula & corn salad but it was so good! This is why I love boxes like this, that salad is not something I would've ever thought to make before.

Late Summer Pork Bolognese - I liked this dish but it didn't wow me. My favorite part was the pasta. I wish I knew where I could buy it.

I'm not going to do a complete price breakdown like I did on my first review. If you want to read it click here. For me, I feel like there is value in these meals and they are working out great for those busy weeks. I logged into my account and skipped all weeks. When Blue Apron sends out the email with the menu information I can simply go back into my account and unskip. This works for me and I'm less likely to get a shipment I didn't want.

***Blue Apron has sent me invitations to share with 3 people. If you're interested in trying it Blue Apron will send you 1 weeks worth of meals which consists of 3 meals with 2 servings each. When you accept the invitation you will have to provide a credit card and will be signed up for their service. You can keep the service as is or go into your account like I do and skip the meals ahead of time, or cancel completely. If you are interested in trying it send me an email at pixiepowered@hotmail.com. I will update this post when the meals are claimed.***

Verdict: I'm enjoying the food and flexibility of this subscription.

September ipsy bag - Face Fashion

Ipsy bag sends out 4-5 samples and a makeup bag for $10 a month with shipping included. If you sign up yearly it's $110 which brings the price down the $9.16 a month with shipping included.  I've been with them since 2011 and this is one subscription I am for sure keeping. They constantly have a high product value with products that I use.

Price: $10 a month with no option to skip. Discount offered for a yearly subscription.

This subscription is available to the US and Canada and ships from Harrisburg, NC.

The good:

September ipsy bag

Contents of bag with value and approximate retail price:

1 oz. First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream. Value = $6.00

1.2 oz. Not Soap Radio Liquid Freud Hand/Body Lotion. Value = $1.71

mini Sephora Formula X nailpolish in Ignite. Value = $5.00?

mini tréStique matte lip crayon in Nantucket Nude Value = $10.67

NYX 3-Shadow palette for ipsy. Value = $3.75

Gold textured Make Up Bag.

The approximate value of this months bag is $27.13. This is actually a low value for this bag but I still think it's a great deal with some great products. The only thing I'm not to excited about is the matte lip crayon but I actually like the color and I think I might use it. What I noticed about the Formula X polish is there was no color listed on the box which I thought was odd. Also I couldn't find the minis for sale on the Sephora website. Also when I saw the pics of the makeup bag online I wasn't too excited but it's really pretty in person and I like the texture effect on it.

Verdict: Great price and great box.
