Quarterly Co. Culinary box #YUM02

Quarterly Co. is a slightly different kind of subscription box company.  The way it works is you pick a contributor you would like to receive a curated gift from anywhere from $50-$100 and every 3 months you will receive your item in the mail from them.  With each gift you receive the story behind it. This subscription is for the Culinary box. Each shipment is curated by a different person in the food field. The last shipment was Food52 and this one is curated by Andrew Zimmern. I had canceled my Andrew Zimmern box awhile ago because they were just ok in my world. I was curious if this box would be the same as the others.

This months box was curated by Andrew Zimmern.

Price $50 every 3 months.

The good:

Variety: There are lots of different curators to choose from.

Something different: This is definitely different from other subscription companies

Commitment issues? Don't want to make a monthly commitment but still want a treasure?  You can get a quarterly treasure.

The not so good:

Don't like waiting: If you don't like waiting this may be torture for you.

Sticker from MPLS/STP Clothing Company.

Contents of box with approximate retail price:

Joia Soda in orange, jasmine and nutmeg. Value = $1.66

11 oz. Peace Coffee Blue Ox Blend. Value = $11.00

Sota Clothing Coffee Mug. Value = $12.50

Sturdiwheat's Buckwheat Pancake Mix. Value = $5.99

Lucille's Kitchen Raspberry Pepper Jam. Value = $7.00

Seven Sundays Muesli in blueberry, chia buckwheat. Value = $ 5.50

MPLS/STP Clothing Company Minnesota Sticker. Value = $1.00

The approximate value of this box is $44.65. Andrew Zimmern is from Minnesota and you can see this box has a Minnesota theme. All of these products are new to me and I was shocked at how much I liked the muesli. I've had muesli before and didn't care for it but this one is delicious! I've been eating it every morning for breakfast. The coffee smells absolutely delicious and as soon as the bag i have is gone I'm going to open this one up. I think the red pepper jam would go well over a round of brie. I'm thinking I'm going to save this for the holidays. I don't eat a lot of pancakes but I'll give these buckwheat ones a try. I wonder if you could make muffins with the mix? The coffee cup is ok, we have so many right now we've run out of room in the cupboard. The sticker is kinda funny and I have a friend from Minnesota that I think I will pass this along to.

Verdict: This box was just ok, not overly exciting.
