January Maven Box - Boho Glam Box

Julep is a monthly subscription company for nail polishes. When you sign up for Julep you take a little quiz and it will tell you what kind of polish girl you are.  You are not obligated to stay with that that type though.  When I first signed up the website said I was Boho Glam but liked the It Girl colors better so I picked that one and as you can see I went with neither of those options this month. You can join as a Julep maven for $24.99 a month which will get you $40+ worth of polish and products. You can also sign up for a prepaid 3 month subscription for $60 which brings it down to $20 a month. The next level subscription is Julep Maven luxe. This program is priced at $39.99 a month and you will get $60+ worth of prestige products. This also has a 3 month prepaid option for $105.00 which brings it to $34.99 a month. The benefit of these new plans is that each box is completely customizable which, as I understand, means you can pick they nail polish colors you want from any of the style profiles. Since I'm signed up under their old pricing plan ($19.99/month not customizable) I had the option of switching my subscription to one of these new tiers but I haven't switched yet.

Price: $24.99-$39.99 a month with a discount for prepaid 3 month subscription.

The good:

The colors: If you like nail polish then it's a nice way to experiment with multiple colors

Need a gift? If you want to send your box to a friend there is an option to do so.  Just log on to your account and click send to friend.

Ingredients: Julep is 4-free which means it's formaldehyde, formaldehyde resin, toluene or DBP free.

Want the polish but not the commitment?  You can buy the polish online at or in Sephora stores.  The cost is $14 so if you like polish then becoming a Maven is a better deal.  If you want to try it out first you can always pick one up at Sephora or online.

Swatches: I love how every month Julep shows what the color looks like on actual nails and shows it on different skin tones.

Referral program. You earn "Jules" for referrals, purchases, anniversary, birthday and upgrades.

Skip a month? YES. They recently changed it so ALL mavens have the ability to skip after purchasing their first monthly box.

The not so good:

Now that they have brought back the skips I couldn't think of anything that wasn't so good.

January Boho Glam Box. The eyeshadow is an add-on

Casey was the included nail polish. The white polish is a Metamorphic Top Coatin Tyra.

Orbital eyeshadow in Borealis.

Luxe Lip in Sheer Fig and eye glider in Olive.

Contents of Boho Glam box w/retail price:

Casey, Boho Glam, Galapagos teal créme. Value = $14.00/$11.20

Luxe Lip Treatment in Sheer Fig. Value = $24.00

Gel Eye Glider in Olive. Value = $16.00/$12.80

Metamorphic Top Coat in Tyra. Value = $14.00/$11.20?

Orbital Eyeshadow in Borealis, charcoal with charcoal pearlescenceValue = $18.00/$14.40

The approximate value of my Bombshell Maven box is $68.00 or $59.20 using Maven pricing. I can't remember how much the extra eyeshadow was to add-on because I used jules for that which was 1200 jules. I'm am still loving the intense color of the orbital eyeshadows. I don't have a customizable box so I picked one with products that I thought I would use the most. I have tons of lip stuff but I decided to try the fig color. I'm not sure about Casey, I usually don't like crémes but the teenager likes blue so I thought if nothing else I could give it to her. I really like the eye gliders. They go on smooth and last all day. I thought the green would be a fun color to try. The metamorphic top coat was a free gift for current mavens who took the January box. If you reserved a MTC you were sent one of three different colors, Tilda, Tyra or Bjork.

Verdict: Love eye glider and eyeshadow and so far the swatches of the MTC's look awesome.
