July KlutchCLUB Box via Bestowed

I still don't really know how the KLUTCHClub or Bestowed merger works. I received an email from KLUTHClub saying they were acquired by Bestowed Box and nothing would change except the boxes would arrive in Bestowed boxes and emails would come from Bestowed.com. I went to the KLUTCHClub website and it appears nothing has changed  and you can still subscribe. I also checked out the Bestowed site and that's the same also. So I guess all that is changed is the boxes will be curated by Heather Bauer of Bestowed and the name on the boxes and billing are different. I wonder if the items in the Bestowed box are different than this?

KLUTHClub monthly subscription service that focuses on health & fitness.  KLUTCHClub ships their boxes out on the 15th of every month. They advertise that the boxes contain over $50 worth of products or services such as snacks, new workouts or body care regimens to try.  I've a had a few months where the value was lower than the $50 promised but still higher than the price of the box. I don't count gift certificates or coupons that require out of pocket money in order to use them. KLUTCHClub offers three types subscriptions, one for women and one for men and now one for moms.  KLUTCHClub allows you to sign up monthly, quarterly or yearly. The monthly price is $18 a month, quarterly is $51.00 or $17 a month and the yearly is $192 or $16 a month.  Shipping is included in all of these prices. I had found a deal back in July of 2013 where I was able to purchase a year for $144 bringing it down to $12 a box.

This subscription is available in the US.

The good:

Healthy: This box is totally dedicated to health and fitness. If you're just starting to get active this is a fun way to try new products or fitness regimens.

Need a gift: Have a health nut friend or want to encourage someone? Send them a month, 3 month or yearly subscription.

Information: They send a little info sheet on the products included in the box.

The not so good:

Skip a month: No skipping a month option.

Value: They promise a value of $50 in each box but they don't send that in product. Sometimes they send gift cards and I think they count those towards the value.

June KlutchClub Box

Contents of box with approximate retail value:

Energy Fruits Crushed Fruit Mango w/Apple &  Pear. Value = $1.67

.5 oz. Kelapo Extra Virgin Coconut Oil. Value = $1.20

Saffron Road Crunchy Wasabi Chickpeas. Value = $5.19 - I'm not a fan of chickpeas but these were really good. The wasabi was spicy but surprisingly addicting.

Zevia Ginger Ale. Value = $1.00

Zing Bar in double nut brownie. Value = $3.49 - not bad for a midday snack.

Aquatowel. Value = $0.50

(2) Runa Cinnamon Lemongress Tea bags. Value = $0.31/ea.

Yoga Downloand 1 free month. Value = $10.00

The total value of this box is $22.67 or $32.67 if you include the yoga download. This box had a lot of food items which I like. I was surprised I liked the chickpeas. I'm liking this Saffron Road brand of food quite a lot. The aquatowels are nice to keep in my gym bag just in case I'm not going straight home afterwards. The Runa tea smells really good. I've received this brand before in other boxes but not the cinnamon flavor. I think I'm going to like it.

Verdict: I'm still a little confused by the merger but I was happy with the box.

July Skoshbox

Skoshbox is a food subscription box for Japanese snacks. Their slogan is "A taste of Japan at your doorstep". Skoshbox contains handpicked candies, snacks and accessories straight from Japan for $12 a month with shipping included.

Price: $12 a month w/no option to skip.

This box is available in the US only and ships from Hawaii

The Good:

Like Asian snacks? This is a super fun snack box and all the products are sourced directly from Japan.

Price: Most of us don't have immediate access to these types of snack so I think $12 is a bargain.

Need a unique gift: The offer a 6 month gift subscription for $72.

The Not So Good:

Skip: There is no option to skip only cancel.

July SkoshBox

Contents of the Skoshbox:

Green Tea Oreo, Soft Oreo with Matcha Cream Filling. - I thought this was taste, the boyfriend thought it was too dry.

Sanko Zara Jiman Senbei, Rice Cracker with Granulated Sugar Topping.

Teriyaki Burger Umaibo, Puffed Corn Stick - Teriyaki Burger Flavor. - the boyfriend ate this but said it wasn't very good.

Pocky Classic, Chocolate Cream Covered Biscuit Sticks. - always yummy.

Pokemon Ramune, Ramune (Fizzy Cider Drink) Flavored Candies. - I expected more fizz but it was ok.

Maison De Kukkia, Matcha Chocolate Cookie Sandwich. - I like this one a lot! flakey cookie with yummy green tea filling.

(2) Kasugai Apple Gummy, Juicy Apple Gummies. - super soft apple jelly candy.

Sakura Mochi Chocolate, Cherry Blossom & Azuki Bean Choco with Mochi Filling. - This was an odd flavor, not bad just odd.

Caplico Cones, Waffle Cones with Chocolate Ice Cream-ey Centers. - loved this cone candy!

French Papiro, Hard Cookie Shell with Creamy Green Tea Filling.

I am not going to try and calculate the value of this box. I would guess the value is not $12 but because these items are not readily available that adds to the value. The way I look at it is if you like this sort of thing and don't want to search for it yourself then it's worth the $12. These boxes get devoured within minutes of opening. It not just a mystery box but mystery food too! We have had things that we like more than others but have never hated anything in the box.

Verdict: We thought everything in this months box was delicious and ate the whole thing in one sitting.

July Bespoke Post - The Barber

Bespoke Post is a monthly subscription box that is geared towards men.  Why they say it's for men is beyond me cause I think lots of woman would love their products.  Maybe it's a marketing thing to get more men to buy and the women don't care if it says it's for men they will buy it anyway.

Bespoke Post advertises their subscription service as a monthly box of awesome.  The way is works is like this.  You subscribe by giving them your email address.  This doesn't obligate you to anything but it will give you the ability to look at the available boxes. If you like the box you can purchase it, if you don't then do nothing.  The price of the box is $45.00 w/shipping included. Once you purchase a box you will get an email every month for that months box. If you decide you don't like that box just skip but make sure and do so by the 5th of the month.  If you don't skip you get a credit towards a future box.

Price: $45 a month/with skip option.

This box ships to the US, Canada and Hawaii. Canadian shipping is an extra $10-$20 and Hawaii is $10.

The good:

Know what your getting: $45 is a lot to spend on a surprise so Bespoke let's you know what the expect and you decide if you want it or not

Don't like the box you received: Bespoke lets you return your box for a refund or credit.  How awesome is that.

Skip a month: don't want any of the boxes, trying to save money - just skip the month

The not so good:

I really can't think of anything

Bespoke Post - The Barber

Contents of the Bespoke Post box w/approximate retail value:

Standard Razor Double Edge Safety Razor in Black. Value = $79.00

2 oz. The New York Shaving Co. Elizabeth Street Shaving Cream. Value = $2.00

Gentlemen Jon Alum Black. Value = $5.99

5 pack Derby blades. Value = $4.00

5 pack Gillette Silver Blue blades. Value = $2.25

Barber Towel, 12 X 24. Value = $2.00??

The total value of my Bespoke Post box is $95.24. For Valentines Day this year my boyfriend asked for straight blade. Long story short I bought him the straight blade but I've decided to also buy him this because I think he will use it more often. I was super excited to see this on Bespoke Post at such a discount! I'm going to wait until his birthday to give it to him which is still a few months away. The razor feels heavy and like a nice quality. I hope he likes it!

Verdict: I thought this was great deal if you're looking for this type of razor.

July GlossyBox

Glossybox is a monthly beauty subscription service that sends 5 travel size beauty items a month.  You can sign up monthly for $21/month, 6 months for $115 (breaks down to $19.16/month), or yearly for $220 (breaks down to $18.33/month).  Shipping is included in these prices. The price is higher than a lot of the other beauty companies but they include luxury items in their boxes. The company ships their boxes towards the end of the month so you will receive it at the end of the month or the beginning of the following month.

Price: $21 a month with discounts for 6 and 12 month subscriptions.

This subscription is available in the US (not including Alaska or Hawaii), Austria, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, Poland, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Taiwan and the United Kingdom.

The good:

The brands: They have well known quality brands like OPI, Zoya, Burberry, C.O. Bigelow, Ahava, Sebastian and other brands specific to other countries.

The sizes: They send deluxe size samples and usually at least one full  size item.

The box: I know it's just a box but it's a really nice sturdy box. The regular boxes are pink and the special collaboration boxes vary in design and color. This box is perfect for reusing or for a gift box. I've also used them to store my extra beauty products.

Information. They provide information on the products you receive and how much the full size is priced at.  I like knowing this info up front and not having to search for it.

Free stuff: If you provide feedback on your products you earn glossydots which will eventually earn you a free box. You can also earn glossydots from referrals. You have to claim your free box before your subscription ends and becomes inactive. This can be tricky because you don't want to receive duplicate boxes.

The not so good:

The price: This can be a little high for some people but if you want to receive known/quality brands it's worth it.

Skip: There is no option to skip a month.

July GlossyBox

Contents of box w/approximate retail value.

1.4 oz. Mitchell and Peach Body Cream. Value = $10.46

.5 oz. Glam Glow Youthmud Tinglexfoliate Treatment. Value = $20.35

FULL SIZE Skin Inc. Custom-Blended Anti-Aging Serum. Value = $45.00

2 oz. Philip B ph Restorative Detangling Toning Mist. Value = $11.37

Malin + Goetz Mojito Lip Balm. Value = $6.86

The total value of my Glossybox is $94.04. As always this box has great products and a great value. I still have a bottle of Philip B toning mist that I haven't used but it sounds like it's something I should use or at least try. The big item everyone was talking about in the box this month is the Glam Glow. I admit I had never heard of it but it's all the rage right now. It's a face mud treatment and you know I love face masks. The anti-aging serum is not something I would normally get excited about but it's a high dollar item and it looks so darn pretty in the bottle. The body cream is some fancy stuff. It contains steam-distilled floral essential oils from the Mitchells' fifth generation estate in Kent, England.

Verdict: Glossybox is pricier than other beauty boxes but it has great brands and value.

July Conscious Box - Classic Box

Conscious box offers 3 types of boxes. The classic, vegan and gluten free.  Each box contains a wide variety of items from food to beauty products to household goodies.  The price is $19.95 a month with shipping included. They also have a 3, 6 and 12 months plans. The 12 month plan is the only one that offers a discount.

Price: $19.95 a month. The 12 month pre-paid offers a discount.

This box is only available to ship to the US including Alaska and Hawaii and ships from Portland,

OR

The good:

Variety: You get a wide variety of items and the box was packed!

Vegan: If your vegan the vegan box is great for you.

Gluten free: If you live a gluten free life the gluten free box would be great for you.

Information: They now include an information card with product details on it.

Points: You can earn points for rating products. The points earn you discounts should you want to purchase something you like.

The not so good:

The price: It's on the high side for subscription boxes but I would consider this a specialty box for sure.

Sample size: Some of the sample sizes are really small and not enough to really evaluate the product.

July Classic Conscious Box

Contents of Conscious Box:

.1 oz. Natralia Anti-Itch Cream. Value = $0.43

1 Packet of 2 capsules Sotru Cocoslim. Value = $1.67

.9 oz. Dr. Schar Honeygrams. Value = $0.40 - I ate these as is. They were ok but would've been better with something to drink.

Quit Tea, tea bag. Value = $0.45

Sample of Actz Marshmallow Soap. Value = $1.50?

1 oz. Vintage Italia Pasta Chips Marinara. Value = $1.00

Honest Kids Organic Grape Juice. Value = $0.75

Pure Lyft Clean Caffeine Energy Stir Stick. Value = $3.00

E-Barf Plus Daily Green Superfood for dogs. Value = $??

.08 oz. Dr. Hauschka Firming Mask. Value = $5.30

Numi Savory Tea in Tomato Mint. Value = $0.67

1 oz. Flora Flor-Essence drink. Value = $1.82

The total approximate value of this months box is $16.99. This was an ok box. There are only a couple of items in here that I won't use, like the quit tea and the savory tea. I am soooo curious about the green powder stuff for my dog. I just have no idea if she is going to eat it but it will be fun watching. She eats carrots so why not some green powder stuff.  The grape fruit juice looks so yummy. It's been years since I've drank grape fruit juice. It's like childhood in a bottle. I'm going to save that one for the boyfriend though because I know he will love it. I wish the marshmallow wasn't soap because it looks good enough to eat! I can't wait to take a bath with it.

Verdict: This box was just ok.

July Urth Box

The Urth box tagline is "Discover a Healthier You". Well who doesn't want to do that? I recently found a deal on on Gilt for a 6 month subscription for $69. I thought for $12 a month, heck why not. Each month Urth box sends a box of healthy full size snacks for you to try. They have different types and sizes of boxes the choose from. You can choose a gluten free, diet, classic or vegan box. From that point you choose which size box you want. They have a small box (7-10 items) for $29 a month, medium box (12-15 items) for $39 a month, large box (20-24 items) for $59 a month. Shipping to US is included. If you choose a 3 or 6 month plan you can save up to $10 a month. So as you can see I got a really great deal.

Price: $19-$59 a month depending on size of box and plan.

This box is available to US and Canada but extra shipping fees apple to Canada.

The Good:

Variety: They have a variety of boxes to choose from depending on your dietary needs.

Products: They send full size products which is awesome!

The Not So Good:

Price: The price is a little high for a monthly box.

Skip: It doesn't appear there any way to skip.

July Urth Box

Contents of the Urth Box:

Ocean's Halo The Seaweed Chip in Korean BBQ. Value = $1.79

Good Boy Organics Bops Sea Salt. Value = $1.44 - I actually like these chips and they are a little better than eating regular chips.

Pop Art Snacks Thai Coconut Curry Popcorn. Value = $4.50 - This actually wasn't too bad. The curry taste was there but not too strong. I had a few kernels and the boyfriend ate the rest of the bag so he must have liked it.

Peeled Snack Apple Clusters. Value = $1.25

Seaweed Love Original Seaweed Snack. Value = $0.72 - I love seaweed!

Mamma Chia Chia Squeeze. Value = $1.75

Ground Based Superfood Protein Smoothie mix in vanilla creme. Value = $3.99 - This wasn't horrible but it wasn't great either. I would drink it again if there was nothing else but I probably wouldn't buy it.

Amazing Grass Green Superfood Cacao Chocolate. Value = $1.47

Home Free Mini Vanilla Cookies. Value = $1.39

The total value of this box is $18.30. For me this was a great deal because of the deal I was able to score on Gilt. If you are paying full price ($29) for this box then it's a terrible deal. Now I did like the contents of the box though. It had some new items and some old favorites. I was surprised that we liked the curry popcorn. What I liked most about this box is there is nothing I'm not happy about. I  even like the chia drink, it grows on you after awhile.

Verdict: The value is disappointing but the products were good. I have 5 more months of these so we will see if the value increases.

July Allure Sample Society box

Sample Society by Beauty Bar is a monthly service for beauty products that promises 5 fresh deluxe sized samples from luxury brands designed for multiple uses.  You also receive a coupon each month for $15 off a $50 purchase from Beauty Bar and a 12 month subscription to Allure magazine.  The cost for this subscription is $15.00 a month with shipping included.

Price: $15.00 a month.

The good:

The samples: You get deluxe sized samples from luxury brands.

Magazine: You get a free 12 month subscription to Allure magazine.  If you already subscribe they will extend your subscription and if you don't want it you can mail in a form for a refund on the value ($12)

Coupon: They send you a coupon with each box for $15 off a $50 purchase. The catch is your order has to include at least one item from a brand you received that month.  It doesn't have to be the item you received just the same brand.

Referrals: It's a win/win. You get a $5 credit on your account or you can donate that to charity and the person you refer gets a 20% discount on their first purchase at Beauty Bar.

The not so good:

Skip a month: There is no option to skip a month, only cancel.

Subscription discounts: They don't offer discounts for multiple months unless you gift a 12 month subscription. Then you get 12 months for the price of 11.

July Sample Society Box

Contents of box with approximate retail value.

1.69 Fekkai PrX Reparatives. Value = $7.99

Butter London in Bobby Dazzler. Value = $15.00

.06 oz. Maison Francis Kurkdjian Paris Aqua Universalis Eau de Toilette. Value = $4.38

L'Oreal Paris Extraordinaire by Colour in Rose Melody. Value = $9.99

.06 Laura Mercier Matte Radiance Baked Powder Highlighter. Value = $8.47

The total value of this box is $45.83. I'm not a big blush or highlighter person but I think I like the color of this one by Laura Mercier. It looks like it's just enough to give your a little glow. I'm excited to try this one. I love almost anything hair related and I very much like Fekkai products. The perfume is ok, I'm not a huge fan of the scent but I like that it comes in a spray bottle. I like the Butter London polish, it's very silvery but I'm pretty sure I have something similar in my stash but of course it's not Butter London. The L'Oreal is a pretty pink color but I have so many lip colors already I may trade this on eDivv.

Verdict: This months was great, between the nail polish, highlighter and hair product I definitely got my money's worth.

July Love with Food - Deluxe Box

Love with Food is a monthly subscription box filled with food. They now offer a deluxe size version of the box which contains 16-20 new snack foods. The price of this deluxe version is $19.95 a month with shipping included. You can also sign up for a 6 or 12 month plan each which will save you a couple of dollars a month. Also for each deluxe box purchased 2 meals are donated to hungry children in America. I decided to cancel my regular snack size box and subscribe to just this larger size box.

This subscription is only available in the US and ships from Santa Clara, California.

The good:

Bigger is better? I know some people don't like that the regular box is so small but it also comes with a small price tag. This deluxe box would be better suited for those with more than 2 people in their house. No more fighting over the tasty snacks!

Variety: You get a lot of variety in each box.

Discounts: You can earn points for discounts off future full size product purchases by submitting reviews on their website or referring new members.

The not so good:

I really can't think of anything I don't like about this box.

July Happy Camper Box

Contents of box with approximate retail value:

2 Degrees Cherry Almond Bar. Value = $1.99

(2) Madyson's Marshmallows Chocolate Chip Fluff. Value = $1.25/ea. - I absolutely love the chocolate chips in these. It adds a nice texture.

(2) .7 oz. Beanitos White Cheddar Puffs Value = $1.33/ea. - These were ok. I prefer the snackasaurus ones though.

1 oz. TERRA Exotic Vegetable Chips. Value = $1.08

1.5 oz. Garden of Eatin' Blue Corn Tortilla Chips. Value = $1.00

.63 oz. Peeled Snacks Apple Clusters. Value = $1.25 - These are popular in my house.

.63 oz. Peeled Snacks Berry. Value = $1.25 - yummy!

The total approximate value of this box is $24.80. This box had a great mix of snacks to snack on. It had quite a few items I hadn't tried yet which is nice. The marshmallows are a little spendy but darn it if they aren't delicious. I wasn't a fan of the 2 degrees bars when I first tried them a year or so ago but they are much better now, yay! All the other snacks we will snack on throughout the week.

Verdict:  This Love with Food box was great!

July Escape Monthly - India

Escape Monthly combines two things I love which are traveling and getting treasures in the mail. Escape Monthly ships every month and includes full size products, travel guides, secret tips and special offers. Each box has a destination theme and every month one lucky member will win a vacation to the destination.  The price of this box is $49.95 a month with shipping included. Right now they are running a deal on their website where you can get 20% off the price of the box for life. This means the monthly box will cost $39.95 a month instead of $49.95.

This box is available in the US only and ships from Lake Oswego, Oregon.

The good:

Products: You get full size products from the region of that month.

Referrals: They have an ambassador program that pays you via paypal for members you refer.

Travel: They give away a trip every month to the destination. There is a card in one box each month telling you if you've won.

Info cards: These are so important and theirs is fantastic. It includes product info and price as well as info about the destination. I have noticed that the prices they list is not always accurate.

The not so good:

Skip: So far I can't find anything on skipping.

Price: The price is quite high for a monthly box.

India Escape Monthly Box.

Contents of box with retail value:

Moon Travel Guide, Taj Mahal. Value = $14.99

Maya Kaimal Madras Curry. Value = $4.99/($7.39) - This said it was $7.39 on the info sheet but I saw it on the shelf of my local Sprouts for $4.99 regular price.

Banyan Botanicals Healthy Hair Oil. Value = $12.95

Banyan Botanicals Peppermint Soap sample. Value = $??

Pure Indian Foods Organic, Grass-Fed Ghee. Value = $2.95

Saffron Road Korma Simmer Sauce. Value = $3.99

Masala Pop Chai Masala Popcorn. Value = $5.49 - This was solo good! I love chai and it was perfectly chai tasting!

Nemat International Inc. Amber Perfume Oil. Value = $9.00

Nemat International Inc. small perfume sample. Value = $?? - This smells really good but I think it's different than the amber oil because they smell different.

Bonus:

Gouri Puja Indian Bindi. Value = $2.00

The total approximate value of this box is $56.36. I liked this box much more than I thought I would. I don't have a  use for the travel guide because I have no plans to go to India anytime soon. I received the Korma simmer sauce in another box and haven't tried it yet. I'm actually glad I have two now because it will make enough for everyone. The info sheet said it was tikka masala which I was kind of bummed that it was korma sauce instead because I do love a good tikka masala. I was totally expecting some sort of curry item and I like curry but a little curry goes a long way so I hope the sauce it's too strong. I'm wondering if the hair oil is similar to argan oil. I hope so because I use argan oil several times a week.   The small vial of perfume smells super good and the amber one also smells good but not as strong. The popcorn was freakin' delicious! I would buy that again for sure. The jar of ghee is pretty small so it won't go far but I will definitely use it. Maybe I'll cook up a little shellfish dish to use with it. The bindi jewels are super pretty but I'm not sure I will wear them because I feel like I would be insulting the Indian community by doing so since it actually has meaning behind it and it's not just a fashion trend. Am I being too cautious?

Verdict: This box was better than I expected. Next month is Paris!

July Treatsie Box

Everyone loves a treasure and a treat is definitely a treasure. Treatsie is a monthly subscription box that sends out high end sweets that you wouldn't normally find at common grocery stores. The nice thing about Treatsie is they support small business by sending out their items and including them in their online store. Every month they send 3-4 artisan sweets from small, independent vendors. The cost of the box is $15 plus $4.95 shipping making it a total of $19.95 a month. Each box has a guaranteed value of $20-$25.

This subscription box is available in the US only.

The Good:

Sweet Tooth? This will definitely fulfill your sweet tooth need.

Support small business: Supporting small business is super important.

Want more? Treatsie has an online shop where you can buy the items from the box and they frequently have sales.

Gourmet items: These are definitely not item you would find in your local big supermarket.

Value: The guarantee valued is more than the priced paid. Awesome!

The Not So Good:

Skip a month. I didn't find any info on skipping months.

This is the box that was inside the shipping mailer. Also the mailer was thick with a cold pack in it.

This is in the inside of the box with the description card.

Yum!

Contents of Treatsie box:

Shotwell Candy Co. Hand Crafted Espresso Caramels. Value = $3.50 - I can't resist a handmade caramel. The espresso was a nice mix, not to strong but definitely noticeable.

Shotwell Candy Co. Hand Crafted "Old Fashioned" Cocktail Caramels. Value $3.50 - can't go wrong with handmade toffee.

Raley's Confectionary Treatsie Variety Mix. Value = $6.00

Seattle Chocolates Milk Chocolate Truffle Bar. Value = $3.50

Seattle Chocolates Dark Chocolate Truffle Bar. Value = $3.50

Seattle Chocolates Total Toffee Truffle Bar. Value = $3.50 - This chocolate bar is really thick and I liked the crunchy toffee inside.

The total value of this box is $23.50. I thought this box was delicious! I loved that they sent full size chocolate bars although that's the last thing I need to be eating. So far I've only had a piece of the toffee one but that dark chocolate has been calling my name. Speaking of chocolate I thought it was super cool that they put a cool pack in the package. When I opened the envelope the cool pack was melted but the chocolate wasn't. It's been in the upper 90's so the chocolate would've for sure melted without the cool pack. Also the pack is reusable and I'm definitely going to reuse it, so bonus!

Verdict: This is a great box if you want gourmet sweets.

If you sign up yearly it's $110 which brings the price down the $9.16 a month with shipping included.  I've been with them for almost two years and this is one subscription I am for sure keeping. They constantly have a high product value with products that I use.

July ipsy Sensationally Sun Kissed bag

Contents of bag with value and approximate retail price:

.03 oz. Bare Minerals 5 in 1 BB Advanced Performance Cream Shadow. Value = $5.41

FULL SIZE Tints & Sass lip & cheek stain. Value = $22.99

1 oz. Hang Ten Dark Tanning Oil. Value = $1.50

15 ml Lavilin Jojoba Skin Soother Gel Cream. Value = $3.16

FULL SIZE Pur Big Look Waterproof mascara. Value = $20.00

Pink scalloped makeup bag.

The approximate value of this months bag is $53.06. I wasn't thrilled when I saw the dark tanning oil in my bag. I'm anti-tanning so this is something I would never use. I'm glad it wasn't a high dollar item. The jojoba stuff I guess goes with the tanning oil. It says to use it after over-exposure to the sun. I found the combo of those two items together amusing. I'm not a fan of waterproof mascara, usually because it's a bear to get off. I love the bottle this is in though. The cap looks like it has water drops on it. Maybe I'll look up some reviews and see how it does when removing it. I gave the Bare Minerals eyeshadow to the teenager. She mentioned wanting a primer type eyeshadow that day, then this came. Ask and you shall received I guess. At first I was kind meh about the lip and cheek tint but I really like the container and the red color. I think this is something that will live in my purse for touch ups on the go.

Verdict: ipsy is one of my favorite subscriptions for their great products and terrific pricing. I don't always love everything in the bag but I always get my moneys worth.

July Taste Trunk - Gourmet Trunk

Taste Trunk is a food based subscription box. I love food, especially gourmet food so I didn't hesitate to sign up for this box. Taste Trunk actually has four different themed trunks you can purchase. They are Gourmet, Health, Sweet and BBQ trunk. I love that they have something for everyone. I get lots of health type foods and I don't need any sweets so I decided against these ones. I was torn between the BBQ one and the Gourmet one but ended up choosing the Gourmet one. The nice thing about Taste Trunk allows you to switch your boxes at anytime. I keep thinking I'm going to try the BBQ one at some point but I'm really liking this trunk. They also have 2 different size trunks. You can get the Gourmet trunk with 4-8 items for $23.99 plus $5.99 shipping each month. They also have the Premium Gourmet trunk with 5-10 items for $28.99 plus $5.99 a month. This is the one I subscribe to. If you want to subscribe for 3-12 months at a time you get a discount ranging from $1.05-$4.65 a month.

This subscription is available to the US only and ships from Discovery Bay, Ca.

The Good:

Products: The items in my box are gourmet and full size.

Info: They send info cards with products information and recipes.

Variety: I love that they have four different themed boxes.

Want more: They have an online store where you can purchase more of the things you love.

Change it up: Want a different trunk next month. You can change your trunks by emailing them

The Not So Good:

Skip: Doesn't look like there is a way to skip, only cancel.

Referral program: They have one but you have to enter the persons full name when you check out and they get 10% off their next box. I like referral programs that use links and have discounts or bonus items for both people.

July Premium Gourmet Taste Trunk

Contents of Taste Guru Box with approximate retail value:

Amphora Premium Balsamic Vinegar from Berkeley, Ca. Value = $7.00

Lazy Kettle Hickory Liquid Smoke from Brisbane, Ca. Value = $5.00

1849 Brand Tri-Tip Meat Marinade from Brisbane, Ca. Value = $4.58

CC Made Rosemary Caramel Sauce from San Anselmo, Ca. Value = $5.00

CC Made Pistachio Nut Caramel Corn from San Anselmo, Ca. Value = $8.00

The total value of this box is $29.58. I'm a big fan of CC Made, they always have delicious products. I've also tried BBQ sauce from 1849 and it was delicious so I imagine the meat marinade will also be great. Recently I needed liquid smoke for something but of course that is not something I normally keep in the pantry. If you have ever used liquid smoke you know a little goes a long way so this bottle should last quite awhile. I love, love, love balsamic vinegar. I could probably drink the stuff but since that's kind of gross I will save this for dressings or an easy appetizer of bread, olive oil and balsamic vinegar.

Verdict: I like this box and am super anxious to try the rosemary caramel.

July Beauty Box 5 Summer Chic

Contents of box with approximate retail value.

Revlon Bold Lacquer Length & Volume Mascara. Value = $7.99

1.75 oz. Hask Argan Oil from Morocco . Value = $0.87

Body Drench Candy Licious lip balm in Cotton Candy. Value = $2.49

Starlooks Lip Liner in Tipsy. Value = $12.00

.5 oz Anna Naturals Glowing Mama walnut face and body scrub. Value = $1.37

The total approximate value of this month's box is $24.72. Revlon is really pushing their new mascara. I think I have 2 or 3 of these now, I hope it works. I received the lip liner in another box awhile back but was able to trade it on eDivv. I'm hoping I can trade this one as well. I love argan oil and use it several times a week and it keep my hair nice a soft which is super important to me since I color, bleach and blow dry it. I wish the body scrub were just a little bit larger but I guess that's why it's a sample. I still like it though because I love anything scrubby.

Verdict: I will definitely use the mascara, argan oil and body scrub and maybe the lip balm.

Rainbow Honey Summer Mixtape Preview!

I went to check my mail today and the first thing I noticed was two keys in my mailbox. I have one of those community mailboxes with two larger parcel holders on the bottom. When I have a package the mail person put a key in my by box. Well today both of the keys were in my box, I felt mail shamed. It's almost embarrassing but not embarrassing enough to stop ordering stuff! Ha Ha.

The second thing I noticed was a package from Rainbow Honey. I thought it was odd since I had already received my July mystery bag and although I wanted to I hadn't ordered anything from them. When I opened the package I was thrilled to see they sent me a blogger pack. I had filled out a form online awhile back saying I was a blogger but the only thing the form said was you will receive a notification via email prior to the next release. I thought they must tell bloggers about new releases coming out, that's cool. So back to the blogger pack. In the mailer was 3 full size bottles of Rainbow Honey polish from their new Summer mixtape lineup. Well color me happy!

One More Minute with Elevate as a topper on the accent nail

I noticed the formula was a little thick. I hadn't noticed that before with their polishes. I was able to paint without clumping and I probably could've got away with one coat of the pink polish since it was thick. The new collection comes out TOMORROW (7/18/14) and if you order be sure and use MIXTAPE20 for 20% off your next order - not ready to order, don't worry the code is good until August 31st!

The lineup includes 12 new colors for summer.

Side A
I Wanna Get Better - I didn't know I was lonely 'til I saw this peachy crelly full of bright and neon glitters

Work It Out - I know we debate it, but this coral is the perfect summer staple.

Stolen Dance - We shouldn't talk about it, but this pale kiwi green will entice you with its gold and violet shimmer

Best Friend - Sometimes it feels like I only dream in black and white...and in neon glitter!

*Elevate - Time to pick up this Ibiza-meets-New-Wave blend of glitters and celebrate!

*One Minute More - The sun will definitely shine on your nails with this sparkling lemon yellow.

Side B

Waves - At least we made some waves with this sparkling, glass-flecked turquoise.

Shark Attack - Let this mix of stars, moons, and shimmery glitters be the fire in your eyes.

Lanterns - Light your way with this luminescent blend of iridescent and translucent glitters.

Fall In Love - Fall into this cool toned crimson red jelly with sparks of blue iridescence.

*Control - Nothing stays around too long, so wear this hot shimmering fuchsia while the days are still long.

* Denotes the colors I received and swatched above.

July Fancy - Food box

The Fancy Food Box includes 5 or more gourmet artisan food products. The Fancy Food box is priced at $39.00 plus $7.95 shipping. This is a little high but if you are into food products they send out some really cool stuff and so far the value has been over the $48 price of the box. I also think this would make a great holiday gift for the food lover in your life.

This subscription is available worldwide, shipping prices vary on location.

The good:

Sizes: You get full size food items! Also every now and then they throw in a kitchen gadget.

Information: They include a nice card with the product information and picture.

Products: They really do sent gourmet and artisan foods and products.

The not so good:

Skip: There is no option to skip a month, only cancel but the cancel process is online and super simple.

Price: The price is a little high - unless of course it has great products and a high value.

July Fancy Food Box

Contents of The Fancy Food Box with approximate retail price listed:

Aqua Ovo Thermo eco-thermal glass bottle. Value = $24.95 - This says it keeps cold stuff cold and hot stuff hot. It also has a strainer near the top for loose tea you can pour hot water in it and have loose leaf tea.

Belgian Boys Mini Stroopwafel. Value = $3.99 - These are pretty small. I had two with my coffee and it was yummy!

Blackbird Food Co. Classic Strong Man Granola. Value = $11.00

Hey Boo Coconut Jam. Value = $12.00

La Combe Pure Black Coffee. Value = $3.00 - This says it's steeped for 16 hours in stainless steel wine tanks, free from oxygen, pressed and filtered twice. Recommend pouring over ice. This sounds like a serious gourmet coffee beverage.

The total value of this months box is $54.94. I have lots of various vessels for water, tea, coffee. You name it I have it BUT I don't have this. I do have a Starbucks tumbler that is similar but it's metal. I like that I can see through this one AND it says it doesn't get hot to the touch or have condensation on the outside. Pretty fancy! The stroopwafels are small but mighty tasty. I super excited to try the jam. I pretty much love everything coconut and this just looks and sounds delicious. I like coffee and while I don't use sugar I do use creamer. Since this sounds like some pretty seriously crafted coffee I'm going to try it as it is over ice but I have a feeling I'm going to need to add some creamer. I'm not too excited about the granola but the teenager likes it so there ya go.

Verdict: The fancy food boxes are always fun to see what you get. All of the products in this box are new to me.

Quarterly Co. Andrew Zimmern #ZIM03

Quarterly Co. is a slightly different kind of subscription box company.  It's not a monthly adventure but rather quarterly.  The way it works is you pick a "contributor" you would like to receive a curated gift from pay a anywhere from $50-$100 and every 3 months you will receive your item in the mail from them.  With each box you receive the story behind it.  The curators consist of CEO's, authors, chefs, world travelers, business owners, etc. Andrew Zimmern is most known for being the host of Bizarre Foods and Bizarre World on the Travel Channel. I very much enjoy watching his travels and experiments in new food, although I think he says he likes some of the things he has tried just for the sake of the show. The price of this mailing is $50 per quarter.

This subscription ships worldwide. Shipping is included in the price for US customers. For Canada add $10 shipping to the base price and everyone else add $15 shipping to the base price. I also found it interesting that this box shipped from El Dorado Hills, about 45 minutes from where I live.

The good:

Variety: There are lots of different curators to choose from.

Something different: This is definitely different from other subscription companies

Commitment issues? Don't want to make a monthly commitment but still want a treasure?  You can get a quarterly treasure.

The not so good:

Don't like waiting: If you don't like waiting this may be torture for you since they ship every 3 months.

#ZIM03

Content of box w/approximate retail value:

Askov Finlayson North Baseball Cap. Value = $34.00

ILOVEHANDLES Barnacle. Value = $4.95

Historic Death Valley National Park Sticker. Value = $2.00

(2) Pearson's Salted Nut Rolls. Value = $1.00/ea.

(5) Necco Wafer Rolls. Value = $0.28/ea.

Border Springs Farms Smoked Lamb Jerky. Value = $8.00-$10.00? - This isn't in the picture because the boyfriend ate it, tossed the packing and took out the garbage before I took a picture.

Hypertheticals 50-question deck of cards. Value = $14.99

The total approximate value of this first box from Andrew Zimmern is about $70.00. I think the game is pretty cool and will be fun when we have friends over. I love the salted nut rolls, although I should not be eating them. The boyfriend liked the jerky. I'm not a fan of lamb so I'm glad he liked it. The hat is not something either one of us will wear which is too bad since it's a high value item. Perhaps I will be able to make a trade for it. The coolest item in the box is the barnacle thing. I can't tell you how many time I've tried to prop up my iPhone in the kitchen or wherever so I could just press the buttons without having to pick it up. This works like a charm! There was a coupon enclosed for 25% off your purchase from the company. I just may pick up a couple of extras.

Verdict: I'm not a fan of the hat which makes this box less in value than what I paid but I did like the other items.

June Beauty Box 5 Summer Chic

Contents of box with approximate retail value.

FULL SIZE Nicka K New York Nail Color in red hot. Value = $4.99

.25 oz packet Organix Coconut Water Shampoo. Value $0.15

.25 oz packet Organix Coconut Water Shampoo. Value = $0.15

FULL SIZE Glam Natural Mascara. Value = $28.00

.17 oz. Eslor Soothing Refiner & Cleanser. Value = $2.38

.17 oz. Eslor Replenishing Scrub. Value = $2.80

.17 oz. Eslor Comforting Mask. Value = $3.80

.17 oz. Eslor Soothing Cream. Value = $6.50

2 oz. Vita Bath Body Wash Cupcake Couture Dreamy Pink Frosting. Value = $1.33

The total value of this month's box is $50.10. I thought this was a great box. The only bummer is I already have this nail polish but they wouldn't know that. I know shampoo and conditioner isn't exciting but I don't mind it because then I don't have to buy it. I haven't bought shampoo and conditioner in quite a while. I also feel the same about the body wash and this one smells like a vanilla cupcake, YUM! I thought the mascara must be a sample size but when I looked at their website it appeared full size. I wonder how it works because it's awfully small for $28. The eslor set is kind of cool. It's a whole face beauty regiment in one little pack.

Verdict: This box was full of item I will use and at a great price!
