June Escape Monthly - Las Vegas

Escape Monthly combines two things I love which are traveling and getting treasures in the mail. Escape Monthly ships every month and includes full size products, travel guides, secret tips and special offers. Each box has a destination theme and every month one lucky member will win a vacation to the destination.  The price of this box is $49.95 a month with shipping included. Right now they are running a deal on their website where you can get 20% off the price of the box for life. This means the monthly box will cost $39.95 a month instead of $49.95.

This box is available in the US only and ships from Lake Oswego, Oregon.

The good:

Products: You get full size products from the region of that month.

Referrals: They have an ambassador program that pays you via paypal for members you refer.

Travel: They give away a trip every month to the destination. There is a card in one box each month telling you if you've won.

Info cards: These are so important and theirs is fantastic. It includes product info and price as well as info about the destination. I have noticed that the prices they list is not always accurate.

The not so good:

Skip: So far I can't find anything on skipping.

Price: The price is quite high for a monthly box.

Las Vegas Escape Monthly Box.

Contents of box with retail value:

Moon Travel Guide, Nevada. Value = $19.99

Tahoe Nevada Toffee. Value = $15.00

Iadoora Charcoal Salt Body Scrub. Value = $15.99

Las Vegas Shot Glass. Value = $3.95

Authentic Clipped Casino Playing Cards. Value = $4.99

3 Girls Holistic Calming Mist Body Spray. Value = $12.00

Vegas Wine Stopper. Value = $5.39

Vegas Nail File. Value = $1.25

The total value of this box is $78.56 or $58.57 if you don't include the travel book. I don't know what I was expecting from the box but it seems a little dull. When I think of Vegas I think of shows, food and cocktails. There are so many fantastic restaurants in Vegas we have an ongoing list of places to try. Living in California Vegas is just a short airplane ride away so we go every couple of years. I will probably flip through this travel guide because the state of Nevada is just a couple of hours drive and there is lots of cool places to check out. The shot glass is ok but we have several Vegas shot glasses already, same for the playing cards. The wine stopper is actually really pretty in person. The toffee is from Lake Tahoe which is only 2 hours from our house. There are lots of little shops in the Truckee/Tahoe area that are fun to check out. I'm starting to see charcoal salt scrub popping up, must be the new thing for the season.

Verdict: I wasn't super excited about the Vegas box. Next month is India.

June Birchbox

Birchbox is a monthly subscription service for beauty items like makeup, skincare, fragrance, etc.  Each month you will receive 4-5 generously sized samples and sometimes full size beauty products.  The cost of this service is $10 w/shipping included.  They also have a yearly subscription which is $110 for the year bringing the cost down to $9.16 a month. I had canceled this subscription last year because I didn't like what they were sending me. A friend signed up and was getting some pretty cool items so I decided to sign up again.

Each months Birchbox has a theme.  This month the theme is Away We Go.

This subscription is available in the US only.

The good:

Name Brands.  You will receive items from Benefit, Stila, Pur, Essie, Kerastase, Tarte, etc.

Cost.  For $10 you can give yourself a little beauty treat.

Like surprises?  You don't know what's in your box until you receive it.  When you sign up you take a little quiz and the items in the box are supposed to be customized to you.  I have seen pictures of other peoples boxes and they do receive different items.

Discounts: They have a system where you earn points for referrals and things you buy.  The points allow you to receive discounts on future full size purchases from their shop.  They offer free shipping on items from the monthly box and a $5 flat shipping rate for items that don't qualify for free shipping.  This is a nice feature because if you want to order several different brands you get free or $5 shipping for everything.

Need a gift? You can gift a 3, 6 or 12 month subscription or you can purchase a gift card in any amount.  There also have a nice option with the gift subscriptions where you can choose to have the 1st box shipped you for giving and subsequent boxes will be shipped directly to the recipient.  Great birthday/holiday gift!

The not so good:

Skip a month?  Currently there is no option to skip a month only cancel.

My Birchbox Treasures!

Contents of box with approximate retail price/value listed.

2.5 oz. Davines Love Smoothing Shampoo. Value = $7.50

.41 oz. Davines Love Smoothing Conditioner. Value = $1.41

.13 oz. Davines Ol All In One Mix multi benefit beauty treatment. Value = $0.83

.25 oz. Egyptian Magic All-Purpose Skin Cream. Value = $2.38

.06 oz. Joie Folle de Joie Eau de Parfum. Value = $1.75

FULL SIZE LAQA & Co. in Menatour. Value = $18.00 - Oh my gosh, I love this color!

.2 oz. Suki Exfoliate Foaming Cleanser. Value = $1.65 - Ive used this before and it's pretty good more more importantly it smells delicious.

The total value of this box is $33.52. I am in love with the lipstick. It goes on smooth and I love the purple color. Totally worth resubscribing! The shampoo was a little leaky but not enough to contact them. That small bottle is worth quite a bit though. I know shampoo and conditioner aren't exciting but they are for me because that means I don't have to buy it. The teenager and I were talking about hair and she asked me what kind of shampoo I use and I said whatever comes in a box. My stylist says my hair is exceptionally healthy considering all the stuff she does to it so why change now?  The Egyptian magic cream really is good stuff. I recently took a nose dive in my driveway and skinned my knee pretty good. It started getting dry during the healing process but I put some Egyptian magic on it twice a day and dryness gone.  I also use it on my elbows when they get dry.

The verdict: I hope the rest of the years boxes are as good or better than this one.

June Love with Food - Deluxe Box

Love with Food is a monthly subscription box filled with food. They now offer a deluxe size version of the box which contains 16-20 new snack foods. The price of this deluxe version is $19.95 a month with shipping included. You can also sign up for a 6 or 12 month plan each which will save you a couple of dollars a month. Also for each deluxe box purchased 2 meals are donated to hungry children in America. I decided to cancel my regular snack size box and subscribe to just this larger size box.

This subscription is only available in the US and ships from Santa Clara, California.

The good:

Bigger is better? I know some people don't like that the regular box is so small but it also comes with a small price tag. This deluxe box would be better suited for those with more than 2 people in their house. No more fighting over the tasty snacks!

Variety: You get a lot of variety in each box.

Discounts: You can earn points for discounts off future full size product purchases by submitting reviews on their website or referring new members.

The not so good:

I really can't think of anything I don't like about this box.

June Take Me Out To The Ballgame Box

Contents of box with approximate retail value:

(2) .7 oz. YumEarth Organics pineapple, raspberry and mango fruit snack. Value = $1.00/ea.

(2) Tree Hugger Gum Gum Balls. Value = $0.23/ea.

(2) 1 oz. Snikiddy Cheddar Baked Fries. Value = $0.94/ea. - These are strangely addicting.

The Cookie Department Snap Back Cookie. Value = $2.14 - I like these but they have a very strong ginger flavor.

(2) 1.5 oz. G.H. Cretors Chicago Mix. Value = $1.20/ea.

(2) 1 oz. Stoneridge Orchards Montmorency Cherries. Value = $1.17/ea.

(2) 1.63 oz. Jolly Oak Good for You Granola, Almond Butter & Jelly Sandwich. Value = $2.00/ea.

(2) .7 oz. Dulcetto Chocolate Cookies. Value = $0.83/ea. - little crispy chocolate cookies, how can that be wrong.

50 ml/1.69 oz. Outta The Park Original BBQ Sauce. Value = $1.55

1 oz. Party-Tizers Veggie Dippin' Chips. Value = $1.00

The total approximate value of this box is $19.43. This months box is equal to what I paid but I'm ok with that because there are some really great snacks in here. Luckily I waited until after a large sushi dinner to open this box otherwise I think half of it would've been gone.

Verdict:  This Love with Food box was great!

June Bulu Box - Weight Loss Box

In addition to their regular box Bulu Box also has a box focused on weight loss.  This box contains a variety of 4-5 weight loss targeting items including but not limited to supplements, fitness tools and healthy eating tools for both men and women. The cost of the box is $10 a month or you can prepay a year for $110 ($10 savings) which brings it down to $9.16 a month. The boxes ship around the 15th of the month so this box will arrive towards the end of every month.  This is a great way to try supplements and weight loss items without spending a ton of money. I had a coupon when I ordered this subscription so I got a year for $88 which brings it down to $7.33 a box.

This subscription box ships to the US only and ships from Lincoln, Nebraska.

The good:

New products: Weight loss products can be overwhelming and expensive to try.  This allows you to try new products for a low price.

Samples sizes: The sizes are really decent.  I received multiples of a few items which will allow me to try it a couple of times.

Information: They include a card with the product information on it.

Access to products: There are links to purchase the products on the Bulu website.

Points: You can earn points by reviewing products on their websites. Points can be used for discounts on full size items. I've used my points to by a protein powder I liked.

Skip a month: No but you can put your account on pause.  It will stay in that status until you reactivate it.

The not so good:

You may get products you won't use or don't want to use.  A lot of people don't like taking supplements which I totally respect but I would say this probably isn't the box for you.

June Bulu Weight Loss Box

Contents of box with approximate retail price listed:

Prevent Iron Deficiency:
(2) Pur-Absorb Iron. Value = $1.53

Herbal Stress Relief:
1 full size package Bach Remedy Rescue Pearls. Value = $12.99

Burn Fat 2/7:
Finaflex PX. Value = $0.92

Protein Energy Noms:
(2) Kickbutt Amped Energy Ballz. Value = $0.85/ea.

Appetite Suppressing Treats.
(2) Windmill Weight Loss Gummies. Value = $0.28/ea.

Portion Control Protein Snack:
MHP Power Pak Pudding Fit & Lean. Value = $3.49

$100 Wine Voucher Gift Card from Naked Wines. ***

The total value of my Bulu box is $21.19 I opened the box and was so bummed to see the Pur-Absorb products. I still have one from another box that I haven't used. I was going to try and mix it with juice or something to see if that makes a difference in the taste. The protein pudding looks interesting. It has 15 grams of protein in it. I've tried the kickbutt energy balls before and I'm not sure they worked or not but they tasted good. I've also tried the back remedy pearls and again I don't know that they worked but since I have them I'll use them.

***If anyone wants this email me at I used one awhile back and they had some good wines to choose from.
Verdict: I thought May was my last box but this one showed up so I guess this is my last box.

June Rainbow Honey Mystery Bag - Full Size

Have you heard of Rainbow Honey nail polish? They made a super cool nail polish colors like Heisenberg of Breaking Bad fame which is a really pretty ice blue color. Rainbow Honey is sold mostly online. I believe they only have one retailer in the US down in San Diego. In March they started offering mystery bags and they were so popular that they made it a subscription service. Each Rainbow Honey mystery bag will have sneak peaks and preview of new lacquers, unreleased samples of future collections and exciting new products made by the Rainbow Honey Lab! They have two sizes of mystery bag mini and full size. The mini mystery bag is $10 plus shipping which I think is $3.95. The full size  mystery bag is $25 and includes shipping. The difference between the two bags, besides price is size of the products. The mini mystery bag will have the mini size bottles of nail polish and smaller versions of whatever is included in the bag. I debated on which one to get because I actually like the smaller bottle of nail polish. I have so many polishes that I never finish a bottle so the small ones are perfect for me. Then I thought for only $11 more I can get full size versions of everything. Decisions, decisions. Finally I decided on the full size mystery bag.

The good:

Price: $25 is kind of a lot on a subscription but $14 (with shipping) isn't so bad. I like that  they have two different price points.

Love what you got: The have a website full of stuff you can order.

Booklet: The include a booklet with info on the products.

The not so good:

Skip a month: I don't see a skip option

The polish comes all nicely packaged in bubble wrap and tissue.

June mystery bag full size goodies. Notice I received two rose macaron nail polishes : /

Close up pikake and rose macaron

My missing ichigo.

Contents of the large mystery bag.

FULL SIZE nail polish in Pikake, glitter topper. Value = $10.00

FULL SIZE nail polish in Rose Macaron, pink and glitter. Value = $10.00

FULL SIZE nail polish in Ichigo, fuchsia jelly with blue & purple iridescent flakes. Value = $10.00

Nucifers Eau de Parfum Rollerball, reminiscent of the tropics and the beach. Value = $12.00

Tea Biscuit Cuticle Balm. Value = $5.00

Tea Biscuit Exfoliating Sugar Soap. Value $??

Dotting Tool. Value = $1.00

(5) Orangewood sticks. Value = $??

Nail Decorations. Value = $??

The value of the mystery bag is at least $48.00. I have no idea what the soap, orangewood sticks and nail decorations would be so add a few bucks for those items. I emailed Rainbow Honey to tell them I had received two rose macaron polishes and no ichigo. They replied quickly and told me I could keep the extra rose macaron and they sent me an ichigo. Currently my nails are in quite the state if non-prettyness. That happens in summer around here when your playing in your garden and doing yard work. As soon as they grow out a little I'm going to try these little beauties out!

Since Rainbow Honey let me keep the extra polish I'm going to give it away to a lucky reader!!!!!
**Please only enter if you have a US address**

This months large bag is no longer available but if you are interested in next months you can sign up now at Rainbow Honey.

Verdict: I'm so glad they are offering these mystery bags monthly now. Great products and great colors!

June Taste Trunk - Premium Gourmet Trunk

Taste Trunk is a food based subscription box. I love food, especially gourmet food so I didn't hesitate to sign up for this box. Taste Trunk actually has four different themed trunks you can purchase. They are Gourmet, Health, Sweet and BBQ trunk. I love that they have something for everyone. I get lots of health type foods and I don't need any sweets so I decided against these ones. I was torn between the BBQ one and the Gourmet one but ended up choosing the Gourmet one. The nice thing about Taste Trunk allows you to switch your boxes at anytime. I keep thinking I'm going to try the BBQ one at some point but I'm really liking this trunk. They also have 2 different size trunks. You can get the Gourmet trunk with 4-8 items for $23.99 plus $5.99 shipping each month. They also have the Premium Gourmet trunk with 5-10 items for $28.99 plus $5.99 a month. This is the one I subscribe to. If you want to subscribe for 3-12 months at a time you get a discount ranging from $1.05-$4.65 a month.

This subscription is available to the US only and ships from Discovery Bay, Ca.

The Good:

Products: The items in my box are gourmet and full size.

Info: They send info cards with products information and recipes.

Variety: I love that they have four different themed boxes.

Want more: They have an online store where you can purchase more of the things you love.

Change it up: Want a different trunk next month. You can change your trunks by emailing them

The Not So Good:

Skip: Doesn't look like there is a way to skip, only cancel.

Referral program: They have one but you have to enter the persons full name when you check out and they get 10% off their next box. I like referral programs that use links and have discounts or bonus items for both people.

June Premium Gourmet Taste Trunk

Contents of Taste Guru Box with approximate retail value:

Gourmet Du Village Cast Iron Trivet. Value = $9.98

Pasta Valente Pasta Bella Chocolate Fettuccine from Charlottesville, SC. Value = $6.50

Pasta Valente Pasta Bella Lemon Garlic Fettuccini from Charlottesville, SC. Value = $6.50

Gourmet Du Village Infused Sea Salt in vintage merlot, aged balsamic, sun dried tomato and vanilla bean. Value = $11.99e
Willamette Valley Mustards Balsamic Basil Vinaigrette from Pendleton, OR. Value = $6.00

The total value of this box is $40.97. Chocolate pasta? I've never heard of such a thing! The directions say to serve it cold like a dessert so that's what we are going to do this weekend. I'm thinking of sprinkling a little of the vanilla bean salt on top. Speaking of the salt hot cool is the little book of salts? It opens up like a book and has information about the salts and how to use them. The trivet is nice but I already have several trivets so I'm going to save this for a gift. The lemon garlic fettuccine pasta sounds delicious and I'm sure we will make good use of the vinaigrette. I love all things with balsamic and basil in them.

Verdict: I like this box and I'm glad they are including kitchen items in it now.

June ipsy - Pretty in Paradise bag

Ipsy bag sends out 4-5 samples and a makeup bag for $10 a month with shipping included. If you sign up yearly it's $110 which brings the price down the $9.16 a month with shipping included.  I've been with them for almost two years and this is one subscription I am for sure keeping. They constantly have a high product value with products that I use.

This subscription is available to the US and Canada and ships from Harrisburg, NC.

The good:

The samples: Usually you get at least one full size product in each bag.

The packaging: Each month the products come in a cute makeup bag for all your goodies.

Discounts: The almost always offer a discount on any additional purchases you want to make.

Semi-customized: You take a little quiz and your bag is semi-customized with products you will enjoy.

Points: You can earn points for reviews and referrals. You can redeem points for extra goodies in your bag.

The not so good:

Skip a month? There is no option to skip a month.  You have to cancel.

Renewal. If your a yearly subscriber they automatically charge your credit card for another year when the paid for year is up. I think they should sent out an email prior reminding you that your year is almost up and it will automatically renew.

June ipsy bag

Love this Rebecca Minkoff bag.

Contents of bag with value and approximate retail price:

1.52 oz Marc Anthony Dream Waves Beach Spray. Value = $3.18

FULL SIZE Jesse's Girl Waterproof eyeliner. Value = $6.99

FULL SIZE NYX Butter Gloss in Eclair. Value = $5.00

2 oz?? Clarisea Sea Salt Solutions Rapid Detox Charcoal Exfoliant. Value = $9.00??

.21 oz. Laneige BB Cushion in light. Value = $14.29?

.21 oz. Laneige BB Cushion in medium. Value = $14.29?

.21 oz. Laneige BB Cushion in dark. Value = $14.29?

Rebecca Minkoff makeup bag

The approximate value of this months bag is $67.34, maybe. I looked up the Laneige products and a full size compact is .5 oz. That would mean this sample is about half the size of the full size compact. Can that be right? Also I don't know how big the container with the Clarisea product is. I'm guessing it's about 2 oz. This bag was just ok for me. I will definitely use the beach spray and the charcoal exfoliante\. I'm not a huge fan of waterproof eyeliner or mascara because they are so hard to get off. Also I don't use foundation so the Laneige products are lost on me. The lip gloss is a great size but I'm afraid the color is way too pink. I'm going to have to search for some swatches online. Now the item I absolutely love is the Rebecca Minkoff makeup bag. I only wish it matched my Rebecca Minkoff purse.

Verdict: ipsy is one of my favorite subscriptions for their great products and terrific pricing. Even if I don't love everything in the bag I almost always get my moneys worth.

June Candy Japan Box - Asian candy & snack box

***UPDATE*** I had originally posted this as the OishiiBox but I was horribly wrong! After figuring out what happened I updated this post. Sorry for any confusion***

Candy Japan is a new subscription box company for Asian snacks. Candy Japan kindly offered to send me this box for review. Candy Japan is a collection of mystery sweet from Japan. The price of this box is $25 a month shipped HOWEVER you get a shipment twice a month. So really it's $12.50 a shipment but you pay $25 a month.

This box available worldwide and mine shipped from Japan.

The good:

Like Asian snacks? This box is full of goodies from Asia

Unique. This is definitely a unique box. It had some things you just don't find in the US.

The not so good:

Price. $25 is quite a bit. I would like it better at once a month for $12.50

Shipping. They have a whole section on shipping in their FAQ's. Basically it takes about a 3-4 weeks for the first box then it's gets quicker since you get box every 2 weeks.

This is the box that was in the mailing envelope.

This is the side of the box. It's shrink wrapped and included a bookmark.

Here are all the goodies inside one of the June Candy Japan Boxes.

This is a partial list that Bemmu from the company sent me of the contents.
Cocoa Cigaretto. - These cigarettes are ramune containing cocoa powder. There used to be this kind of cigarette type of sweets in the past and children imitated smoking. But after 80s stopped selling cigarette style sweets, except these cocoa cigarettes. It is the only sweet available in the market.
Little Bobdog. - These are similar to cocoa cigarettes. They are ramune with flavors soda, strawberry and cola.
Ume Mints & Mini Vita C. - Ume mints are plum flavored mints. Mini Vita C is mimicking the taste of a popular Japanese energy drink called "Dekavita C".
Camera Ramune. - This box of ramune looks like an old-style film camera. The idea is that when you press the shutter button, candy comes out. To try it, remove the red sticker. Then when you press the shutter, the lens hole opens and you can shake some candy out.
Mini Can Ramune. - These three cans are shaped like drink cans. The candies inside taste like soda, cola and peach. - These tasted just like the description
Three Pyramids. - The pyramid-shaped small containers contains very tiny chocolates. The tastes are fruity chocolate, milk chocolate and coffee chocolate. - I really liked these. We decided they would make good ice cream topper.
Crayon Shin-chan Ramune Chocobi. - Crunchy star-shaped chocolates. - Has a chocolate flavor but not too exciting.
Love-tomo Ramune. - Love-tomo here means "best friends", so please share one of these ice cream bar -shaped ramune candies with a friend that is important to you. There is also a small sticker inside. There are various different varieties of stickers, so what you get will differ from others who received this box! "Let's always be best friends!"

I found it interesting that it was a pre-boxed pack. I wonder if they had these boxed made or if they picked up these boxed to send. There is no way I'm going to do a price break down on all these items. I wouldn't even know where to start.

The teenager spent about 45 minutes going through the box and trying all the goodies. Some where better than others and some were downright fun. On the top right of the picture there is a candy box that looks like a camera, when you press the "button" on top a candy comes out the lens. I ended up downloading an app on my iPhone where you can scan foreign words for translation. It was only slightly helpful. I scanned the blue package that you can seen on he bottom right and it said "picture, cigarettes" Some of the other items said things that didn't even make sense. We had a good time though trying to figure out the flavor of all the goodies. I also found the candy cigarettes interesting. That is something you just don't see anymore in the US.

Verdict: I thought this was a fun box. I'm going to keep an eye on this subscription and see if they end up offering a once a month box.

June Nibblr Box

Nibblr is a snack box company very similar to Graze box. They send portion control snacks all wrapped up in a little sealed box. Each shipment contains four snack boxes. You can choose to receive a shipment every week, every other week or once a month. You don't get to choose which snacks you receive but they have rating system on their website for the snacks they send. Your ratings will determine snacks in future shipments. They have 59 different boxes so they is surely something for everyone. The price per shipment is $5.99 which includes shipping. You can choose to pay for four boxes at at time for $23 ($5.75/shipment) or twelve boxes for $66 ($5.50/shipment). I had found a deal through Gilt City to get twelve shipments for $40 which makes it under a $1 per snack pack. That sounded like a great deal to me. I opted to have my boxes shipped once a month.

The good:

Snacker? If you're a snacker like me this is a perfect little box. Portion controlled and portable.

Nutritional info: Printed on the back of the container which I love.

Customize shipments: You can choose how often you want a box. Choose wisely though I couldn't see a way online to change it back. Also you get to rate the items and say love it, like it, interested or no thanks.

Referral: Use my referral code 4051 when signing up and you will get a free box.

The not so good:

Price: Depending on how you pay the price ranges from $1.37-$1.50 a box.

Skip: I couldn't find any sort of skip or vacation hold option.

Nibblr Box

Contents of box:

Strawberry Banana Shake, banana chips, banana cookies and strawberries snack mix.

Sassy Chicks, chili lime chickpeas.

Salty Chicks, sea salt chickpeas.

Neapolitan, shortbread cookies, chocolate cookies and strawberries snack mix.

I opened the box this month and thought "wow, that's colorful." I like these boxes and as I predicted they were a big hit in my house like the graze boxes. I'm not a big fan of the regular price but convenience doesn't always come cheap. If you want to try it out sign up and use my referral code 4051 and get your first box free.

Verdict: I like these boxes for the convenience and portability.

Graze Box

Graze sends out a box of four snack size containers of dried fruit, nuts, crackers, dip and dippers, etc.  The boxes are semi-customizable meaning you don't actually get to pick which items you want but you can rate the items you receive from love to never send me this again.  The cost of the box is $6.00 per shipment. You can also choose how often you want the boxes. I have mine set up for every two weeks.

This subscription ships to the US only, except Hawaii and Alaska.

The good:

Like Snacks: Are you a snacker like me?  These are perfectly proportioned snack size containers.

Nutritional info: The include nutritional info in each box. It's on the card in the package though, not the actual product.

Skip: Sort of.  They don't call it skipping, they call it pushing back but it works the same.  You can do this online through your account and it's super easy.

Semi-customizable: You rate items and that's how they choose which items to send you.

Referrals: They have a generous referral program. The new customer gets their first and fifth box free and you get $1 off your next box or you can donate that $1 to the graze school of farming.

The not so good:

Price: The costs ends up being $1.50 per package.  You're paying for convenience but I gotta be honest it was super convenient to pick up a pack and throw it in my lunch bag this morning.

Contents of box:

Healthy Popping Corn with a Twist of Black Pepper.

Tropical Daiquiri, green mango, lime raisins and pineapple

Fruit & Seed flapjack, rustic rolled oat flapjacks with mixed seeds and dried fruit.

My thai, sweet chili sauce with baked soy bites.

Contents of box:

The cheese board, cheese cashews, salsa corn sticks and herb crackers.

Mississippi BBQ pistachios, smoked bbq pistachios.

Whole Grain Banana Caramel Dippers, banana nut bread with caramel sauce.

Tropical Sundae, mango, pineapple and banana.

These are a bit hit in my house and super convenient. The only problem is the boyfriend will sometimes eat three of them in one sitting. If I get something I don't like I just log on and click "trash" and they never send it again. If you get something I love I click "love" and they send more. It's that easy.

Verdict: I'm really like my Graze boxes for convenient portable snacks.

June Sample Society Box

Sample Society by Beauty Bar is a monthly service for beauty products that promises 5 fresh deluxe sized samples from luxury brands designed for multiple uses.  You also receive a coupon each month for $15 off a $50 purchase from Beauty Bar and a 12 month subscription to Allure magazine.  The cost for this subscription is $15.00 a month with shipping included.

The good:

The samples: You get deluxe sized samples from luxury brands.

Magazine: You get a free 12 month subscription to Allure magazine.  If you already subscribe they will extend your subscription and if you don't want it you can mail in a form for a refund on the value ($12)

Coupon: They send you a coupon with each box for $15 off a $50 purchase. The catch is your order has to include at least one item from a brand you received that month.  It doesn't have to be the item you received just the same brand.

Referrals: It's a win/win. You get a $5 credit on your account or you can donate that to charity and the person you refer gets a 20% discount on their first purchase at Beauty Bar.

The not so good:

Skip a month: There is no option to skip a month, only cancel.

Subscription discounts: They don't offer discounts for multiple months unless you gift a 12 month subscription. Then you get 12 months for the price of 11.

June Sample Society Box

Contents of box with approximate retail value.

.27 oz. H2O Plus Night Oasis Oxygenating Rejuvenator. Value = $6.03 - I received some of this in another box and I've been using it every night. I actually think I'm noticing a difference in the evenness of my skin.

.125 oz. Murad Pore Reform T-Zone Pore Refining Serum. Value = $2.63

.11 oz. Orlane Paris Hydro-Matifying Care. Value = $7.10

.10 oz. Karin Herzog Vita-A-Kombi 2 face cream. Value = $4.79

.5 oz. Pur-lisse Pur-moist hydra-balance moisturizer. Value = $16.18

2 ml Juliette Has a Gun parfume in anyway. Value = $3.60

The total value of this box is $40.33.  I was surprised to see a lot of little samples in this months box and even more surprised that they added up to a decent value. I have a few of these items already. I guess the benefit to subscribing to multiple subscription boxes is you may end up with several samples of an item you like/use. I would like to have seen at least one makeup item in this box but I will use everything in here so it's a win for me.

Verdict: This months was small but mighty

June Fancy Food Box

The Fancy Food Box includes 5 or more gourmet artisan food products. The Fancy Food box is priced at $39.00 plus $7.95 shipping. This is a little high but if you are into food products they send out some really cool stuff and so far the value has been over the $48 price of the box. I also think this would make a great holiday gift for the food lover in your life.

This subscription is available worldwide, shipping prices vary on location.

The good:

Sizes: You get full size food items!

Information: They include a nice card with the product information and picture.

Products: They really do sent gourmet and artisan foods and products.

The not so good:

Skip: There is no option to skip a month, only cancel but the cancel process is online and super simple.

Price: The price is a little high - unless of course it has great products and a high value.

June Fancy Food Box

Contents of The Fancy Food Box with approximate retail price listed:

Sir Kensington's Classic Ketchup. Value = $8.95

Sir Kensington's Spicy Brown Mustard. Value = $8.95

House of Webster Sweet & Hot Bread and Butter Pickles. Value = $9.00

Quince & Apple Tart Cherry Grenadine. Value = $13.00

Quin Twizzlie Rolls. Value = $6.00

Quin Twizzlie Dreams Come True Candies. Value = $12.00

The total value of this months box is $57.90. The boyfriend was sniffing around the kitchen looking for something to snack on so I told him to open this box because their would be food in it. I laughed when he opened the box and there was not a snack to be found. Usually there are some chips, cookies, crackers something immediately edible, besides candy, but not this time. He says "So we got ketchup, mustard & pickles?" "Yep" I said "Sounds like we need to buy some hot dogs this weekend."
So he didn't get a quick snack but we got some yummy stuff. I have been craving pickles lately, I'm hoping these aren't too hot. I like gourmet mustards and ketchup but they can be pricey so I was happy to see this. The candies were a little soft from being outside so we put them in the fridge to cool off. I haven't tried them yet but from what I've read online they are delicious

Verdict: The fancy food boxes rarely disappoint in value and products (unless you're looking for something to snack on and it's the one time you get a box of non-snacking type products - ha ha). I always look forward to this box.

June PopSugar Must Have Box

The PopSugar Must Have Box is a monthly subscription box that is geared toward many aspects of your lifestyle.  It includes, food, beauty, fashion, tech, and all kinds of other treasures. The price of the box is $39.95 a month w/shipping included.  They also have 3, 6 and 12 month subscriptions and each one saves you a little bit of money.

This subscription is available in the US only and ships from Gilroy, Ca.

The good:

Products: Full size products as promised and a nice variety of beauty, home etc.

Booklet: The include an info booklet in each box about the products.

Pricing structure: They have monthly, 3, 6 and yearly subscriptions.  Each one (except monthly) saves you a little bit of money.

Referrals: The offer a generous referral program.  Refer 2 people get a month free. 5 people 3 months free and 10 people is 6 months free.  I've was super lucky and 10 people used my referral link so I got 6 months free way back when I first started subscribing.

The not so good:

The price: $40 is a little high for a monthly box but you do get some really cool stuff with a value of way more than $40

Skip a month: There is no option to skip, only cancel.

Max Referrals: They only reward you for the first 10 referrals. I think they're referral program is very generous but I would like to see something beyond 10 referrals. Maybe some type of point system or discount.

This is what it looks like when you open the box.

June PopSugar Must Have Box

Contents of box with approximate retail price:

The One & Only by Emily Giffin in hardback. Value = $28.00

Sachajuan Shiny Citrus Body Lotion. Value = $24.00

Turkish-T Beach Towel. Value = $32.00

You Smell Lemon Wet Wipes, box of 12. Value = $6.00

Set of 3 Lollies Basic Hair Ties. Value = $8.00

One Potato Two Potato Hawaiian BBQ chips. Value = $2.00 - very good, I like that they were thick

Special Extra

$15 Gift Card for Native Union. Value = $0 - I put this as a value of 0 because they cheapest item they have is $20 and you have to pay shipping. So you are out of pocket if you use the card, but they do have some cool gadgets.

The value of this box is $100.00. I'm always excited when books are in boxes. I like reading and have a stack of books a mile high on my "to read" shelf but this one will be put on the top since it's new. This is the second Turkish towel they have sent, although different company. The first one was in the resort box which was $100. I am going on a beach vacation later this month and I'm definitely going to bring one of my towels with me. The wet wipes aren't exciting but they are great to keep on hand when traveling. I'm always putting my hair in ponytails and I usually use the twistband hair ties or something similar. These ones are a little more fancy and they say they don't stretch over time like the ones I use. The lotion smells nice and refreshing and will definitely get used.

Verdict: This months PopSugar was great. It has lots of items I'll use this summer.

June Beauty Army Box

Here's how Beauty Army works.  You get to choose up to 6 items to try out from a selection of 9 items. The selection window is open for 5 days based on the day you signed up.  I happened to sign up on the 1st of the month so my window starts then.  They update their stock daily so what's available one day may not be available the next.  I also noticed that if I refresh my browser different items come up. I actually did that a couple of times to get what I want. The price is $12 a month and that includes shipping. They also offer a yearly deal for $132 which means your 12th month is free dropping the price down to $11 a month. This month I was determined to not miss the selection window and let them pick for me again. I managed to not forget and I think I received some pretty cool stuff.

The Good:

The brands: You will get options from well known brands. They also say they use brands from emerging companies which is also fun.

The box/kit: I am very impressed with the little box it comes in. It's a well made sturdy reusable box hat can be used for gifting treasure boxes of your own making, keeping your treasures organized, etc.

The price: $12 Shipping included seems reasonable to me to be able to try a useful amount of product. Also you are picking the items out so theoretically you will always get something you will use.

Customer Service: I've had to email customer service for an issue and they were very prompt in responding and fixing the issue.  They seem to really care about their customers happiness with their products.

Skip a month: Not feeling it this month? unexpected bills? now you can skip the month. If you are a yearly member and skip the month then another month will be added to the end.  Yay!

The not so Good:

Skipping: Since they change their items everyday I usually wait until the last day to decide if I've going to skip or not. I wish they would send a reminder on the last day of the selection window.

June Beauty Army Box

Contents of box with approximate retail value listed:

34 oz. L'Oreal Paris Advanced Hair Care Total Repair Extreme Shampoo. Value = $0.13

34 oz. L'Oreal Paris Advanced Hair Care Total Repair Extreme ConditionerValue = $0.13

34 oz. L'Oreal Paris Advanced Hair Care Total Repair Extreme Recovery MaskValue = $0.35

1.75 oz. Hask Argan Oil from Morocco . Value = $0.87

Cetaphil Cleansing Cloth. Value = $1.00

Revlon Bold Lacquer Mascara. Value = $7.99

Novex Brazilian Keratin Extra Deep Hair Care Cream. Value = $4.99

.25 oz. Juice Beauty Green Apple Age Defy Moisturizer. Value = $5.63

The total value of my kit is $21.09. I kept skipping months because nothing was showing up in my selection window that I wanted. Finally this month had some products that I was excited about. I picked the shampoo and conditioner because it's something I can always use. Ditto for the cleansing cloths. I've used various argan oils and I like the way it makes my hair feel so I jumped on this sample. It's just a foil packet sample but it has a lot of product in it. Since I'm all about keeping my hair moisturizes I picked up the novel product also. The mascara is full sized and since I can always use mascara so I picked it up. Lastly I really like the last juice beauty product I used and this is a great travel size.

Verdict: I found I was skipping several months in a row so I canceled this box and re-subbed to birch box.

June Blush Beauty Box

Blush is a company that is associated with Dermstore and Blush offers a monthly mystery beauty box.  You can make a one time purchase for $34.95 or subscribe monthly for $24.95.  Both prices include shipping. It made absolutely no sense to me to pay $10 more when I could just cancel the subscription if I didn't like it.  Each month Blush says they will send a box full of products handpicked by their panel of beauty experts of mostly full size and some travel-size products worth at least $100.

I believe this subscription is available to the US only, they don't really say on their website.

The good:

Price: If they continue to send great products with a value of at least $100 that's 4 times the value.

Want more: Since they have a retail website reordering is easy and all these products were easily found.

The not so good:

Price: This is one of the higher priced subscriptions but the products seem to be premium.

Skip: Their website is not user friendly.  I couldn't find an option to skip or cancel.

June Blush Beauty Mystery Bag.

Contents of Blush box w/approximate retail price listed:

FULL SIZE Briogeo Don't Despair Repair! Value = $26.00

FULL SIZE NYX Be Free Palette. Value = $20.00

FULL SIZE Dermanew Cleansing Créme for sensitive skin. Value = $24.00

FULL SIZE Alterna Caviar Anti-Aging Seasilk Oil Gel. Value = $28.00

.16 oz. Phyto Phytolisse Ultra-Glossing Finishing Serum. Value = $2.86

The total value of of this blush beauty bag is a $100.86. This bag was right on the money for me.  I was surprised to see 3 of the items for hair but I'm totally into hair care products so I'll take it. I also use face cleaner everyday and while my skin isn't sensitive I like the sensitive skin products because they tend to not have colors or scents in them. The only thing that I wasn't too excited about is the NYX palette, although I think it's very cool it's just not something I would use. It would make a great gift though!

Verdict: I was happy to see all the hair care products. With summer here it's always a good idea to keep your hair moisturized.

June SkoshBox

Skoshbox is a food subscription box for Japanese snacks. Their slogan is "A taste of Japan at your doorstep". Skoshbox contains handpicked candies, snacks and accessories straight from Japan for $12 a month with shipping included.

This box is available in the US only and ships from Hawaii

The Good:

Like Asian snacks? This is a super fun snack box and all the products are sourced directly from Japan.

Price: Most of us don't have immediate access to these types of snack so I think $12 is a bargain.

Need a unique gift: The offer a 6 month gift subscription for $72.

The Not So Good:

Skip: There is no option to skip only cancel.

Contents of the Skoshbox:

Matcha Mochi Choco Square, Matcha Chocolate w/Mochi Center.

(2) Kit Kat Bake Pudding. - They also suggest baking them for 1-2 minutes but I didn't think that was a good idea. They say if you bake them they will have a creme brûlée finish.

Wasabi Kakinotane, baked spicy wasabi cracker and peanut mix.

Matcha Okoshi, matcha puffed rice snack.

Takoyaki Umaibo, takoyaki (octopus ball) flavored puffed corn snack.

Corn Potage Umaibo, creamy corn potage flavored puffed corn stick.

(2) Bake-Choco, chocolate cake bite with warm chocolate filling.

Harvest green tea crackers, baked sweet green tea crackers.

I am not going to try and calculate the value of this box. I would guess the value is not $12 but because these items are not readily available that adds to the value. The way I look at it is if you like this sort of thing and don't want to search for it yourself then it's worth the $12. These boxes get devoured within minutes of opening. It not just a mystery box but mystery food too! We have had things that we like more than others but have never hated anything in the box.

Verdict: We thought everything in this months box was delicious!

PopSugar Must Have Summer Special Edition

This is the PopSugar Must Have Box Special Edition Summer Box. This box, like the other limited edition boxes was $100.00 plus tax where applicable. They always send really nice high end products in them with a value way over the $100.

The special edition boxes come in a black box that can be reused for storage or gift giving.

First look!

Set of four glasses. Each glass features a PopSugar office location.

The pouch and other goodies.

Joie Jager horn necklace.

This is the other side of the pouch.

Contents of PopSugar Must Have Summer Special Edition:

Sister of Los Angeles City Rocks Glasses for exclusively for PopSugar. Value = $45.00

Samudra Blue Tropics Pouch exclusively for PopSugar. Value = $60.00

Sachajuan Ocean Mist for hair. Value = $28.00

Tarte Cheek Stain in exposed. Value = $30.00

Tarte Lipsugence Power Pigment in exposed. Value = $24.00

The Ingredient Finder Eliut Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Value = $16.55

Soixante Neuf Jewels by Joie Jager Horn Necklace. Value = $155.00

The total value of this limited edition resort box is $358.55. I have mixed feelings about this box. I think it has some great things in it but most of them aren't things I like or would use. The glasses are cute but they aren't something I would consider buying because they don't go with my other glasses and they are hand wash only. We have personalized pub glasses that are hand wash and that's enough for me. The necklace is the high dollar item in the box but it's really not something I would wear ever. The pouch is cute and since it's canvas I might use this when traveling. I will definitely use the hair mist and the olive oil. I'm not too into cheek stains and the lip pigment would've been since but it's a bland color that I'm not sure will look good on me.

Verdict: This box wasn't so great for me. I only will definitely use 2 of the items which is about half the value. I may trade, gift or sell the other stuff.

May Conscious Box - Classic Box

Conscious box offers 3 types of boxes. The classic, vegan and gluten free.  Each box contains a wide variety of items from food to beauty products to household goodies.  The price is $19.95 a month with shipping included. They also have a 3, 6 and 12 months plans. The 12 month plan is the only one that offers a discount.

This box is only available to ship to the US including Alaska and Hawaii and ships from Portland, OR

The good:

Variety: You get a wide variety of items and the box was packed!

Vegan: If your vegan the vegan box is great for you.

Gluten free: If you live a gluten free life the gluten free box would be great for you.

Information: They now include an information card with product details on it.

Points: You can earn points for rating products. The points earn you discounts should you want to purchase something you like.

The not so good:

The price: It's on the high side for subscription boxes but I would consider this a specialty box for sure.

Sample size: Some of the sample sizes are really small and not enough to really evaluate the product.

May Classic Conscious Box

(1) 3 Gallon Biodegradable BioBag. Value = $0.24

(1) Flents Biodegradable Lens Wipe. Value = $0.20

(1) San Francisco Bay French Roast Coffee Pod. Value = $0.66 - I like this coffee and have bought it in the past.

.34 oz. Weleda Oat Replenishing Shampoo. Value = $0.59 - I didn't care much for this shampoo. I didn't feel like it cleaned my hair very well.

.34 oz. Weleda Oat Replenishing Conditioner. Value = $0.59 - Not a fan of this conditioner. It didn't make my hair feel soft after using it.

(1) Crystal Deodorant Towelette. Value = $0.50

1/2 serving (2) capsules MRM Vegan Bone Maximizer capsules. Value $0.67

Choice Organic Teas English Breakfast Teas. Value = $0.31

LaraBar Peanut Butter Cookie. Value = $1.12

Vita Coco Pure Coconut Water. Value = $1.16

2 oz. Acquavena Hand & Body Lotion. Value = $2.11

1.05 oz. bag Barbara's Bakery Puffins Cereal. Value = $0.55 - I ate this as a snack out of the bag. They were pretty substantial I would guess they would hold up good in milk.

PurAbsorb Iron Supplement. Value = $0.71 - This was also in last months box. I was bummed to see it again, mostly because it was the most awful thing I ever tasted.

The total value of this months box is $9.41. I'm not liking the value of this box. I forgot to cancel the auto renew so this box is coming for another year at $16.95 a box. Most everything in the box I will use, except the PurAbsorb. It was beyond horrible tasting. I'm also not a fan of coconut water. I know people say it's good for you but I don't like the taste. I'm hoping I'll be able to mix it with something so I don't waste it. All the other samples I will use for sure.
