May Taste Guru Box

Do you live a gluten free lifestyle? Or maybe you know someone who is gluten free? Taste Guru is a whole box of food that is gluten free. Taste Guru came about when the co-founder was diagnosed with celiac disease. Many of the gluten free foods they found tasted like cardboard and generally didn't taste very good. Through trial and error they found foods they love and mealtimes became enjoyable again. Each month Taste Guru sends out a box of gluten free foods that have been tested and reviewed by those who live a gluten free life. The box is shipped monthly and the prices ranges from $25 to $34 a month depending on which plan you sign up for. All plans include shipping.

This box ships to the USA only from Denver, Colorado.

The good:

Gluten free made easy: This is a great way to try a whole bunch of gluten free foods.

Need a gift: I think this would make a great gift for the gluten free person in your life.

The not so good:

Want more: The products they send can be hard to find but Taste Guru has an online store where you can order some of the products from the box.

May Taste Guru Box

Contents of Taste Guru Box with approximate retail value:

(2) Enstrom Almond Toffee Single in Dark Chocolate. Value = $0.94/ea. - I love toffee and dark chocolate. These were awesome!

(2) .75 oz. bags of Free For All Olive Oil Herb Crackers. Value = $1.00??/ea.

SoyJoy Dark Chocolate bar. Value = $1.99 - Not my favorite bar but it's ok.

12 oz. bag Delallo Gluten Free Orzo. Value = $4.49

The total value of this box is $10.36. This value is totally unacceptable. If I hadn't received a deal on this box (6 months for $65 = $10.83/month) I would be complaining to them for sure. The regular price of the subscription is $34 a month and you get $10 worth of stuff? No way!
I was happy to see the Delallo orzo, it's a brand I buy and I'm interested in their gluten free products. I've noticed other gluten free pastas turn out kind of mushy. The SoyJoy bar is a good snack as well as the crackers. The toffee candies are delicious and only 110 calories.

Verdict: Great products, horrible value. I found a deal on Gilt city for a 6 month subscription for $65 which made it $10.83 a month for me. This is the 1st month out of 6. We will see what happens next month.

  1. Good luck with receiving any more boxes. Many of us never received a box for April at all and the May box was a complete joke. They got so many complaints on their Facebook page that they disabled the ability to post. They keep lying in their emails saying that "you are on the list to get a box" but it never shows up. Try to get your money back now while you can!

    1. I agree! I heard that if you buy a box through a discount deal, they give you less products than they normally would give you if you subscribed "normally". I say cut your losses and try to get your money back for the boxes you didn't get.

    2. Since it was a Gilt City deal I don't think I can get my money back. I figure I paid rougly $11 for each box for 6 months so as long as it come close to that I won't worry about it. If that is true they send less products on the "deal" boxes then someone is a failure at marketing. Why would a customer sign up at full price if they are unhappy with the discounted boxes.

  2. I stayed on them enough to get my last box of three months, April's, and something like four out of five items were repeats of the previous month with the value well under $10. Something is going on with them. One other thing to be careful of is before they disabled their Facebook posts, lots of people were saying their Does not Auto Renew deals were auto renewing and they were having a time getting it straightened out. Their posts on Facebook said that there was a box that people checked during sign up that gave permission for this, but if it was there when I did my Gilt City deal, I don't remember it. I was worried about this so I made sure to verify my account was canceled before the end of the deal and I kept all the emails I got from them about it to be sure. One thing I will say in regards to the numerous complaints about unanswered email is that I always got an answer in around 48 business-day hours. It didn't really bother me that their communication was not speed of light like we have come to expect, as long as they answered. It may have gotten worse, by now, I don't know. By the way, Gilt City deal, first box was fine, second was ok, and third pitiful.

    1. Geez I wonder what's going on and if they are going to fix it? I wonder how my other 5 boxes are going to be?
