January Julep - Bombshell Box

Julep is a monthly subscription company for nail polishes. When you sign up for Julep you take a little quiz and it will tell you what kind of polish girl you are.  You are not obligated to stay with that that type though.  When I first signed up the website said I was Boho Glam but liked the It Girl colors better so I picked that one and as you can see I went with neither of those options this month. The monthly fee is $19.99 w/shipping included.  The company advertises that you will receive $40 worth of product for $19.99.  Also you will 20% all purchases from their website.  Thank you to my awesome readers for using my referral link, because of you I received this box for free.

The good:

The colors: If you like nail polish then it's a nice way to experiment with multiple colors

Skip a month? Yes! you can skip a month.  They will send an email when your selections are ready and you have 4 days to let them know to skip the month.

Need a gift? If you want to send your box to a friend there is an option to do so.  Just log on to your account and click send to friend.

Ingredients: Julep is 4-free which means it's formaldehyde, formaldehyde resin, toluene or DBP free.

Want the polish but not he commitment?  You can buy the polish online at or in Sephora stores.  The cost is $14 so if you like polish then becoming a Maven is a better deal.  If you want to try it out first you can always pick one up at Sephora or online.

Swatches: I love how every month Julep shows what the color looks like on actual nails and shows it on different skin tones.

Referral program. You earn "Jules" for referrals, purchases, anniversary, birthday and upgrades.

The not so good:

Quality:  Some of the colors are more chiporiffic that others.  I find that if you are diligent about using a top coat it really helps.  I don't have that same issue with other polishes like Essie or Zoya.

This is the January Bombshell box. The bonus item were little file squares which I actually love.

Margot and Mae were included in the box and I added on Farrah.

Contents of Bombshell box w/retail price:

Margot, Bombshell, Old Hollywood Gold Shimmer. Value = $14.00 (11.20 Maven price)

Mae, Bombshell, Soft Lavender Satin. Value = $14.00 (11.20 Maven price)

Ta Da! Quick Dry Drops. Value = $14.00 (11.20 Maven price) - This stuff really works and I find it helps moisturize the cuticles which it a big plus for me. I'm a cuticle picker and it shows.

2 square buffers - These little do-dads are great for buffing the nails prior to applying. Let's see if it helps the polish to last longer.

Farrah, It Girl, Lilac Silk. Value = $14.00 (11.20 Maven price)

The approximate value of my Bombshell Maven box is $42.00 or $33.60 maven priceThe add-ons value is $14.00/11.20 and I paid $5. I would show you swatched colors but I just put new polish (Juleps Nadia and Ashley) on and I don't want to take it off.

Verdict: I like Julep.  They offer fun boxes, skipping the month is easy and their mystery boxes are a great value.
