January SeasonsBox

Have you heard of SeasonsBox yet? This is another new monthly subscription service but they focus on lifestyle items that focus on the current season.  Each month SeasonsBox will send 3-5 luxurious full size seasonal must-have products for your home, body and spirit.  For this service you can sign up monthly, quarterly, bi-annually or annually.  The monthly price is $29.95 plus $4.95 shipping.  If you sign up for the 3, 6 or 12 month subscription you get a discount.  Right now they are having a special on their annual subscriptions than runs until January 31st.  If you pre-pay a year the price is $250 w/shipping included which breaks down to $20.83 a month.  This is a lot to pay up front for a mystery box but it's quite the savings.

The good:

Products: You get full size products

Variety: It's not limited to beauty, health, food, etc.  There is a variety of items in each box.

Themes: I like the theme boxes and I like this this one will focus on seasons, holidays or occasions.

Referral program: If you refer a friend you get $5 and they get an extra product in their first box.

The not so good:

Skip: If you have more than the monthly subscription there is no option to skip the month.

The January theme is Soft & Cozy.

This is the scarf from the box.  It's beige with a slight blue color to it.

Contents of SeasonsBox with approximate retail value:

Kitira Boutique Hand-Woven Scarf. Value = $18.00

Vance Kitira Hand Poured Cathedral Candle 3x4 size in Bamboo Bliss. Value = $12.99

Whispering Willow Whipped Shea Butter. Value = $8.00

Unearth Malee Thai Herbal Steam Bath Tea. Value = $7.95

Perfumessence Organic "Breathe" Shower & Bath Bomb. Value = $1.65

The total value of the first Season's Box is $48.59.  The price of the box depending on how you sign up is a maximum of $35.  It's not a blow out value box but I think there are some really nice things in here and well worth the price.  I love bath stuff so the bath bomb and bath tea are so perfect for me.  What goes great with a nice bath, besides wine, candles of course!  It's so cliche but sitting in a nice bath reading a book or magazine with a nice candle is so relaxing.  The scarf doesn't fit it with the whole bath thing but it's a super soft warm and fuzzy scarf.  I love that it's a neutral color so it will go with anything.

Verdict: I thought this was a great box. I like all the bath stuff they included.

I want to say thanks to Catherine H., Jannet Y., Barbara H., Merina G., and Ashley S. for using my referral link.  I received this months box free because of them.  You guys are awesome!

The good:

Products: Full size products as promised and a nice variety of beauty, home etc.

Pricing structure: They have monthly, 3, 6 and yearly subscriptions.  Each one (except monthly) saves you a little bit of money.

Referrals: The offer a generous referral program.  Refer 2 people get a month free.  5 people 3 months free and 10 people is 6 months free.  I've was super lucky and 10 people used my referral link so I got 6 months free.

The not so good:

The price: $35 is a little high for a monthly box but you do get some really cool stuff with a value of way more than $35

Skip a month: There is no option to skip, only cancel.

January PopSugar Treasures.

This was also in the box and I'm totally excited about getting it!

Contents of box with retail price:

Must Have Fitness
Marrithew 65 cm Stability Ball. Value = $38.99 ( 5'7-6'1)

Must Have Fashion
The Remix Timebomb Watch in Pink. Value = $44.95 **The watch they sent was broken.  The LED lights didn't work, I contacted customer service and they sent me a replacement but the replacement is black.  I guess that's a better neutral color but pink was kind of fun.

Must Have Beauty
Epicuren Discovery Lip Balm Value = $9.00 - This is tingly on my lips and I really liked the way it felt.  I wish it were in tube form though because I hate sticking my fingers in the little pots of lip goo.

Must Have Food
(2) Popbar Hot Chocolate on a stick, one milk chocolate and one dark chocolate.  Value = $2.99/ea.

Must Have Food
Jet-puffed Vanilla Mallow Bits. Value = $1.99

Special Extras
Think Thin Crunch, caramel chocolate dipped mixed nuts bar. Value = $1.99

Think Thin Creamy Peanut Butter bar. Value = $1.99

Think Thin Divine Dark Chocolate Coconut bar. Value = $1.69

Coupon for $15 off at Casetagram to make your own iPad, iPhone, iPod or Samsung Galaxy case.
The total value of this month's box is $106.58. I was super excited to see the stability ball in this box because I used to have one but one of my naughty kitties punctured it and it went flat.  What I was disappointed about was the size.  It's made for people 5'7"-6'1" and I'm 5'2".  I wonder why they would send the large one our since it's mostly women who buy this box and according to the CDC the average height of women in America is about 5'4".  I'm still happy with it and since the boyfriend is 6' he'll be able to use it as well.  The watch it ok if you like those sort of things but honestly I haven't worn a watch in several years and I don't have any desire to.  I did notice on the company website that they are in pre-sale status so it looks like they haven't even come out yet.  It's kind of cool to get a product that's not even for sale yet.  The lip balm is great.  The weather here in California has been crazy and causing all kinds of drama for my lips.  All the Think Thin bars will go in my quick snack bin and I'm sure the boyfriend and teenager will be all over the hot chocolate on a stick things - they look delicious!

Verdict: PopSugar is a great box if you want more than just beauty products.

**I am not any type of sponsor paid or unpaid for PopSugar.  I purchase these subscriptions myself.

January Beauty Box 5

Beauty Box 5 is a monthly subscription service for beauty products including makeup, skin care, fragrances, nail care, body care, beauty tool and just about anything else beauty related.  Each month you receive 4-5 samples of beauty related items.  They have three ways to subscribe.  You can pay monthly for $12 a month, or quarterly $30 which brings the price down to $10 a month or yearly for $100 which brings the price down to $8.33 a month.  Shipping is included in all these prices.

The good:

The brands.  Well known brands including some eco-friendly ones.

The pricing structure.  I like the options they have, monthly, quarterly and yearly.  Even the quarterly gives you a little bit of a discount.

Like surprises? Boxes ship out on the 15th of every month and you never know what's going to be in it.  I like surprises so this is a positive for me.  Also since this ships out in the middle of the month you get a little treasure towards the end of the month.  Most monthlies ship at the beginning.

Information: They have started including an information cards on the products in the boxes which I love

The not so good:

Skip a month. Currently there is no option for this.  If you want to skip you have to cancel.

All the items in this months box were full size.  How awesome is that.

Contents of box with approximate retail value.

.03 oz. Ferro Mineral Vegan Desert Rose Blush X3. Value = $3.70 (4gram $17.00)

FULL SIZE Pencil Me In Eye Accent Pencil. Value = $6.99

FULL SIZE Model Co. Colourbox Lip Pencil in Pomegranate. Value = $18.00

FULL SIZE Perfumies Solid Perfume Stick in Femme Fatale. Value = $7.00

.25 oz. Margania Argan Oil. Value = $4.00 (2 oz. $32.00)

The total value of this month's box is $39.69.  I have to be honest, at first I wasn't overly excited by this box.  I saw the blush but I don't wear blush.  I went to the companies website and discovered that they call this X3 because you can use it multiple different ways.  It can be used as a blush, eye shadow, nail color or lip color.  The Pencil Me In product says it contains antioxidants and vitamins to help protect the eye from daily exposure to destructive elements. I thought the lip pencil was just a liner but it looks like it's also a color.  I'm thinking color your lips with this and add some lip gloss.  I like the idea of the perfume stick but I'm not a huge fan of the scent which is a real strong floral scent.

Verdict: This box was just ok for me.

**I am not any type of sponsor paid or unpaid for Beauty Box 5.  I pay for these subscriptions myself.

January KlutchClub - Women's Box

KLUTCHClub is a monthly subscription service that focuses on health & fitness.  KLUTCHClub ships their boxes out on the 15th of every month.  They advertise that the boxes contain over $50 worth of products or services such as snacks, new workouts or body care regimens to try.  KLUTCHClub offers two types subscriptions, one for women and one for men.  KLUTCHClub allows you to sign up monthly, quarterly or yearly.  The monthly price is $18 a month, quarterly is $51.00 or $17 a month and the yearly is $192 or $16 a month.  Shipping is included in all of these prices.

The good:

Healthy: This box is totally dedicated to health and fitness. If you're just starting to get active this is a fun way to try new products or fitness regimens.

Need a gift: Have a health nut friend or want to encourage someone? Send them a month, 3 month or yearly subscription.

Information: They send a little info card on the products included in the box.

The not so good:

Skip a month: No skipping a month option.

KLUTCHClub Women's Healthy Weight Management Box.

Contents of box with retail price listed.

30 minute Turbo Fire's Greatest Hits Cardio DVD. Value = $19.95 - Normally fitness DVD's bore me but this one was pretty good. It was high energy and only 30 minutes which I thought went fairly quick. There is some coordination involved which I am not good at but like my kickboxing instructor once told me "as long as your moving, it's good"

1 package of 28 FRS Healthy Slim Chews. Value = $29.49

8.4 oz. can of Scheckter's Organic Energy Drink. Value = $2.49

EAS Lean 15 Chocolate Peanut Bar. Value = $2.00

(2) Madecasse Chocolates. Value = $0.37 - I've had these before and I like the dark chocolate one the best.

1 package of 17 Bach Rescue Stress Relief Gum. Value = $7.75

1.6 oz. package of Ginger People Ginger Chews. Value = $1.49

1 oz. bag Snikiddy Eat Your Vegetables Chips. Value = $0.82 - These actually weren't too bad.  I didn't think they tasted "healthy" and they satisfied my need for something salty and crunchy.

Hypnosis Network free Introduction to Hypnosis and Weight Loss Essentials sessions. Value = $17.56 (The full CD has 9 sessions and cost $79.99)

$25 off the 1-month open plan at LeBootCamp Food Lover's Diet. *1 month price is $29.00

$20 gift card for Pro Compression socks. *Prices start at $25.00

The total value of this box is $81.92.  I didn't include the LeBootCamp gift card or Pro Compression gift card since they require an out of pocket expense.  This box was filled with fun little things to try.  I may or not use the gift cards I'm undecided on those.  I really want to try the DVD but honestly it looks like a lot of jumping and I don't do jumping type exercise.  I can't believe the slim chews are 30 dollars a bag.  I sure hope they are worth it. Stress Relief gum? Hey, why not?

Verdict: This box never fails to disappoint. If your into fitness type stuff or know someone who is I highly recommend this box. - I think this would make a great gift for someone who has expressed interest starting an exercise program or changing to a generally healthier diet.

January Julibox

A few of months ago I heard about Julibox.  Julibox is a subscription box for those who like the beverages of the adult variety. Each month Julibox sends out a recipes for two different cocktails and all the ingredients necessary to make them (minus any fresh fruit).  Each cocktail will be enough to serve two people so basically you get four cocktails per box.  Julibox cost $40 if you do a month to month membership and can go as low as $36 a month if you sign up for a 6 month membership.  Shipping is included in all prices.  The nice thing about the 3, 6 or 2 month memberships is they don't bill you in advance they still be you once a month.

They say you can buy more of anything you like in their shop but when I clicked on their store page there was nothing for sale except the November 2012 box.  I'm hoping this will be up and running soon, although I have a Total Wine and Bev Mo very close to me so it wouldn't be hard to get what more.

This is the fourth collection offered by Julibox.

The good:

Like new drinks: This is a great way to try new drinks without buying a full size bottle of alcohol.

Need a gift: You can gift Julibox. What a better way to say thanks than with a cocktail.

Monthly billing: I like that if you sign up for 3 months or longer they still bill you monthly.  If you cancel before the end of the subscription term they will charge you $15.00 This seems like a fair deal to me.

The not so good:

Price: The price ends up being $9-$10 per drink which is right around regular bar prices.  Now the benefit is you can drink in the comfort of your own home.

This is how the products are shipped.  There is plenty of packing material and each bottle is wrapped in tissue. I didn't take a picture but each drink has it's own color tissue making it easy to identify the ingredients.

This is the front and back of the included recipe cards.  They list all the things you will need down the the type of glass and how to mix the drink.  The even include a toast and rating area for you to fill out.  These are printed on heavy card stock and can be saved for future reference.  The also have instructional videos on their website to view.

How great are these treasures!

Cocktail #1 The High Society

(2) 50 ml bottle of Knob Creek Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey.  Value = $3.49/ea

50 ml bottle of Cointreau. Value = $3.99

50 ml bottke of Amaro Averna. Value = $4.99

6.8 oz. bottle Fever Tree Spring Soda Water. Value = $1.75

The total value of this cocktail recipe is $17.71 for two drinks.

Cocktail #2 Winter Side Car

(2) 50 ml bottles of Xante Pear Cognac. Value = $2.95/ea.

50 ml bottle of Disaronno Italian Liquer. Value = $2.95

The total value of this cocktail recipe is $8.85 for two drinks.

The total value in this box is $26.56.  That's about $6.64 per drink and the cost of the box is $9-$10 per drink.  This is better than last months and I have to admit it was nice trying new drinks without having to buy full size bottles of alchohol.  The other nice thing I noticed was I received an email prior to receiving my shipment telling me that I would need a lemon and an orange for my drinks this month.  I thought that was really cool info to get in advance.

Verdict: Still on the fence but I really enjoyed making and trying the drinks last month.

**I am not any type of sponsor paid or unpaid for Julibox. I purchase these subscriptions myself

January Pawalla Box for cats

Pawalla offers a monthly treasure box for cats as well as dogs.  The Pawalla Box is $26 a month or an annual subscription for $252. The annual brings the price down to $21 a month and is billed yearly.  Shipping is included in both plans.  Each box contains 6 or more new products including premium all-natural wet food, treats, supplements and toys.  The treats and toys are selected based on the age and size of your cat or dog.

The recently sent an email offering a Pawalla Mini box for either a dog or cat.  This box includes 1 treat, 1 toy and 1 surprise item.  The price of this box is $14 a month or a 6 month plan is $13 a month and a yearly plan is $12 a month.  The value of the box is estimated to be between $25-$35.  This is limited to 200 subscribers.  Here is the link if you want to check it out.  Pawalla Mini Box

The good:

Have a cat in your life?  Now there is a box for your kitties

Variety: There is a lot of variety is this box.  Everything from food to toys to supplements, just as promised.

Info: The provide a giant card with information on all the products included in the box.

Amount: The amount of stuff in this box was enough for both my kitties to share.

The not so good:

Price: It's a little pricey but if you have multiple cats they can easily share.

Subscriptions: I wish they had a 3 or 6 month subscription that offered a little discount.

Pawalla box of kitty treasures!

Contents of box with approximate retail price:

(2) 2.75 oz. cans of Lotus Chicken and Vegetable Pate for Cats. Value = $1.25/ea.

(2) 2.75 oz. cans of Lotus Salmon and Vegetable Pate for Cats. Value = $1.25/ea.

13 oz. jar of Meowstard. Value = $8.00

2 oz. bag of Cat-Man-Doo Life Essentials Freeze Dried Chicken. Value = $8.00

4 oz. bag of Stella & Chewy's Carnivore Crunch for dogs (yep I said dogs - the product sheet says it's for cats but the actual product says dogs, I think they put the wrong one in my box). Value = $12.49

JMK pack of 10 litter bags. Value = $4.00

Loopies magic wand catnip toy. Value = $4.99

The total value of my box is $42.48.  I'm super intrigued by the meowstard (love the name).  It contains a whole bunch of vitamins and minerals that is supposed to help their joints, bones, metabolism, coat, etc.  I'm not sure my finicky girls will like this but I'll sure give it a try.  I've received the freeze dried chicken before and my cats didn't like it at all.  I gave my last bag to my friend who is an animal control officer to give to the doggies she contacts.  I usually don't use litter liner bags either but I may give them a try or donate those as well.  The Stella & Chewy product they sent says it's for dogs but I wonder if there is a difference between the dog and cat product other than the size.

Verdict:  This is a fun box for kitties.

**I am not any type of sponsor paid or unpaid for Pawalla.  I purchase these subscriptions myself.

She's such a little ham!

January Bulu Box

Bulu Box is a monthly sample box that contains 4-5 premium vitamin and supplement nutrition samples.  These samples are for both men and women.  The cost of the service is $10 a month or $110 a year ($10 savings) which brings it down to $9.16 a month. This is a great way to try supplements and health type foods without spending a ton of money.

The good:

New products: Nutritional products can be overwhelming and expensive to try.  This allows you to try new products for a low price.

Samples sizes: The sizes are really decent.  I received multiples of a few items which will allow me to try it a couple of times.

Information: They include a card with the product information on it.

Access to products: There are links to purchase the products on the Bulu website'

Point: You can earn points by reviewing products on their websites. Points can be used for discounts on full size items.

The not so good:

Skip a month: No can do, you will have to cancel.

This month's theme is feel good discovery.

Bulu treasures!

Contents of box with retail price listed.

2 packets of Perfect Block Food Supplement. Value = $2.00/ea.

2.5 oz. bottle Dream Water. Value = $3.75

10 pieces of Immuno mixed berry flavor gum. Value = $3.50

1 capsule NRGX Labs Red Stinger Black Label all day appetite control. Value = $0.28 (90 capsules $24.99) - took this around noon before a trip to the gym.  I didn't notice any major extra energy but I did notice I wasn't trying to figure out excuses not to go and I was able to stay awake that night a little longer than normal.

12 pack of Washington Homeopathic Products Natural Headache Remedy. Value = $3.49

The total value of my Bulu box is $13.02.  I've been drinking protein drinks a couple of times a week and I haven't tried this brand yet.  I've had the dream water before and it tasted ok but I'm not sure it helped me sleep any better.  I'm curious about the homeopathic headache medicine.  I don't get regular headaches I get migraines.  Wonder if this will help at all?  Appetite control? Sure why not?  Gum to help my immune system, can't hurt right?

Verdict: I'm really enjoying my Bulu boxes.  They send a nice variety of products to try.

**I am not any type sponsor paid or unpaid for Bulu Box.  I purchase these subscriptions myself.

January Momme Box - Healthy Living Themed Box

What is Momme Box?  It's a new monthly subscription service that is marketed towards moms of all ages and backgrounds.  As most of you know I'm not a mom but I've noticed a lot of these mom theme boxes contain items that anyone would enjoy.  The price for this box is $20 a month of you can sign up for a 3 months subscription for $18 a month or a 4 month subscription for $15 a month, shipping is included in all the above prices.  With the 4 month subscription you are charged $60 and will get 4 boxes then you will be charged $15 a month until you cancel.  Each box contains items that will focus on beauty, health, lifestyle, home, education and more.  Also each month will have a theme to the box and you can actually look on their website to see what all the themes are for 2013.

The theme for this months box is: Healthy Living Box

The good:

Variety: They include lots of products for different aspects of your life.

Recurring: Unless you opt for the 4 month subscription this is not a recurring subscription box so you don't have to worry about skipping or canceling.

The not so good:

Price: $20 a month is a little high for a surprise box. $15 is much more reasonable but you can't skip if you go that route.

This is the box that all the products came in.

These are all the products that came in the box.

These are all the coupons that came in the box.

Content of box with approximate retail value listed:

1 pkg. Click Espresso Protein Drink. Value = $2.95

1.5 oz. Dr. Cleengreen's Handy Essentials hand cleaner. Value = $5.99

EcoTrek Fitness Bar in dark chocolate toasted coconut. Value = $2.29

1 pack of Bubblegum flavored Glee Gum. Value = $0.25

1 pack of Cinnamon flavored Glee Gum. Value = $0.25

1.06 oz. Plant Fusion Protein Powder. Value = $2.49

Health Warrior Chia Coconut Bar. Value = $1.57

Coupon for a free Sambazon Superfood juice or smoothie. Value = $2.79

Coupon for $10.00 off a $24.00 purchase at Dr. Robin for kids.

Coupon for 20% off Hyde Yoga Clothing.

The total value of the Momme box is $18.58.  The value of this box is just under $20 but I'm ok with that because the items are actually useful.  This box like many being sent out this month is focused on health and fitness. The only thing is this box I know I don't like is the glee gum.  The Dr. Robin products is basically a free shipping coupon because their standard shipping price is $10 for all orders under $36.  The offer 3 products, sunscreen, combination shampoo and body wash and moisturizer.  The hand sanitizer may be handy to have because I plan on doing some traveling this summer and I like carrying sanitizer with me just in case.

Verdict: The value isn't as high as the first box but I will use the products in this box so I'm happy.
**I am not any type of sponsor paid or unpaid for Momme Box.  I purchase these subscriptions myself.

January Birchbox

Birchbox is a monthly subscription service for beauty items like makeup, skincare, fragrance, etc.  Each month you will receive 4-5 generously sized samples and sometimes full size beauty products.  The cost of this service is $10 w/shipping included.  They also have a yearly subscription which is $110 for the year bringing the cost down to $9.16 a month.

Each months Birchbox has a theme.  This month the theme is Beat Year Ever.

The good:

The brands.  You will receive items from Benefit, Stila, Pur, Essie, Kerastase, Tarte, etc.

The price.  For $10 you can give yourself a little beauty treat.

Like surprises?  You don't know what's in your box until you receive it.  When you sign up you take a little quiz and the items in the box are supposed to be customized to you.  I have seen pictures of other peoples boxes and they do receive different items.

Discounts: They have a system where you earn points for referrals and things you buy.  The points allow you to receive discounts on future full size purchases from their shop.  They offer free shipping on items from the monthly box and a $5 flat shipping rate for items that don't qualify for free shipping.  This is a nice feature because if you want to order several different brands you get free or $5 shipping for everything.

Need a gift? You can gift a 3, 6 or 12 month subscription or you can purchase a gift card in any amount.  There also have a nice option with the gift subscriptions where you can choose to have the 1st box shipped you for giving and subsequent boxes will be shipped directly to the recipient.  Great birthday/holiday gift!

The not so good:

Skip a month?  Currently there is no option to skip a month only cancel.
My Birchbox Treasures!

Contents of box with approximate retail price listed.

.68 oz. Amika Color pHerfections Shampoo. Value = $1.05 (14.37 oz. $22.00)

.05 Harvey Prince Skinny Chic Perfume sample. Value = $8.14 (50 ml. $55.00) 1.478

.3 oz. My Prime Multi-Purpose Mattifying Moisturizer. Value = $10.30 (2 oz. $68.00)

.035 theBalm Hot Mama two-in-one blush highlighter.  Value = $2.71 (.25 oz. $19.00)

Beauty Extra:

Deborah Lippmann The Stripped to go lavender nail lacquer remover mitt.  Value = $2.00

The total value of this box is $24.20.  The value is good on this box but I wasn't super excited about all the products.  I am interesting in trying the nail polish remover but I'm almost hoping I don't like them because $2 a pack is pricey.  I'll use the shampoo and I'm glad it's for colored hair.  I don't use blush or primer so these products were just ok.  I'll try the perfume because why not?
The verdict:  This box may be on the list of ones I'm not renewing.  The value is ok but I'm not super happy with the products I've been receiving.

**I pay for these boxes myself and am not any type of sponsor paid or unpaid for Birchbox

January Samplrs Box

Samplrs is a food centric monthly subscription service.   Each month you will receive 4-6 full size products from up and coming food artisans.  The cost is $29.99 a month w/shipping included.  That's a little higher than other food subscriptions but if you like trying new artisan type foods it's well worth it.

The good:

Sizes: The company gives you full sizes of the products.  Now you don't have to hide your treasures from other people, unless you don't want to share.

Price: If you are into gourmet food items then the price is awesome.  These are not products you are likely going to find on sale in your local grocery store.

Discounts: You can buy the products you receive on the Samplrs website and in addition you can earn points which can be used for discounts in the marketplace

Information: They include a card with the product information.

Vegetarian: You can opt to receive an vegetarian-only box which will contain vegetarian alternatives to featured meat products.

Skip: Yep you can skip a month by calling or emailing them before the month's cut off date.

The not so good:

I got nothin'

Contents of Samplrs Box with approximate retail price listed:

FULL SIZE container of Farm to Table Organic Pure Oat Oatmeal. Value = $8.82

pack of 2 Salt of the Earth "The Cookie" cookies. Value = $3.50 - I've had these cookies before and they are so good.  They use E. Guittard disc shaped chocolate chips so it's like a chocolate filled cookie.  The Maldon sea salt is especially delicious.

pack of 2 Salt of the Earth "The Chocoholic" cookies. Value = $3.50 - I thought I would like this more than the other one and while it was delicious I think "The Cookie" had more flavor.

1.7 oz. bottle of Crown Maple syrup Grade A Light Amber.
1.7 oz. bottle of Crown Maple syrup Grade A Medium Amber.
1.7 oz. bottle of Crown Maple syrup Grade A Dark Amber.
This trio is sold in set for $15.95

15 oz. jar Rick's Picks Mean Beans. Value = $9.95 - The jar was leaking slightly but luckily it was rolled in bubble wrap so nothing got wet.  I ate one of these right out of jar and thought "hey, that's pretty good" so I proceeded to eat about 4 more then the spice hit me. Woo spicy!  I'm going to add these to my salad, I think it will be perfect!

The total value of this months box is $41.72.  When I opened the box the first thing I saw were the cookies and I actually said out loud.  "Woo Hoo!" Then I told the boyfriend, "sorry, there's nothing is this box you will like"  hee hee.  I felt bad after a few minutes and because I'm watching what I eat and shouldn't be eating cookies I brought him the cookies but told him he had to share a bite which he did.  It should also be noted that you can only get the cookies in New York and since I'm on the other side of the country this is a special treat for me.  I can't wait to try the oatmeal, I hope it's thick like steel cut.  The beans were delicious.  I was going to use the syrup on some pancakes or waffles but they also sent a recipe for a cocktail using the dark amber syrup so I might try that as well.

Verdict. This box never disappoints.  It consistently offers great stuff and a great value.

January Ipsy Bag

Ipsy bag time.  I gotta be honest I'm not really digging the Ipsy name.  No one knows what it means when you talk about it.  Glam bag was way more descriptive.  No matter on the name because I do enjoy my Ipsy bags.  The value of the Ipsy bag has always been high compared to the price paid.  I have had a few items I didn't care for but I figure better to try them inexpensively than pay full price and not like it.   With Ipsy you receive 4-5 samples and a makeup bag for $10 a month with shipping included. If you sign up yearly it's $110 which brings the price down the $9.16 a month with shipping included.

This months theme is "A True Star Will Always Shine"

The good:

The samples.  They seem to include at least one full size sample each month, which is nice.

The packaging. Each month the products come in a cute makeup bag for all your goodies.

Discounts: The almost always offer a discount on any additional purchases you want to make.

The not so good:

Skip a month? There is no option to skip a month.  You have to cancel.

Ipsy Treasures.

This is the cute bag.  It's navy blue and the inside has star printed material inside.

Contents of bag with value and approximate retail price:

FULL SIZE Nailtini nail polish in Frappe (sheer pale pink). Value = $13.00

1.7 oz. bottle Josie Maran Pure Argan Oil. Value = $4.67

FULL SIZE Pacifica Tuscan Blood Orange Body Butter. Value = $7.00

1.5 oz. Sexy Hair Spray & Play. Value = $6.00 - I love this stuff.  It gives your hair volume and sort of pieces it out which makes colors stand out.

Soho London Get a Grip Ergonomic Crease Brush. Value = $8.99

Navy Blue makeup bag.

The total value of this months bag is $39.66 not including the makeup bag.  For me this was a great bag.  The only thing I'm not to into is the nail polish because it's such a light color and I normally wear brights or darks.  I use Sexy Hair products and I use the spray & play which isn't cheap so this was super cool for me.  I've used Argan oil before and liked it.  I actually read the box on this and discovered you can use it on hair, nails, body, baths, etc.  I use lotion everyday and the blood orange smells delicious!  I didn't really need another makeup brush but I'll add it to my collection and use it eventually I'm sure.  I am actually curious about it since it says it's ergonomically designed.

Verdict: Ipsy is consistently a great all around inexpensive beauty subscription.  I'm keeping this one.

January Beauty Army

I know I haven't done a Beauty Army review in awhile but that's because I've skipped the last four months.  I like the kits but it seemed everything during my selection window there was maybe only one or two things I wanted.  For awhile they had a lot of teas, eye cream, face makeup - all things I don't need or use.  The nice thing about Beauty Army is that I had the option to skip and since I'm a yearly member it just extended my membership.

Here's how Beauty Army works.  You get to choose up to 6 items to try out from a selection of 9 items. The selection window is open for 5 days based on the day you signed up.  I happened to sign up on the 1st of the month so my window starts then.  They update their stock daily so what's available one day may not be available the next.  The price is $12 a month and that includes shipping. They also offer a yearly deal for $132 which means your 12th month is free dropping the price down to $11 a month.

The Good:

The brands: You will get options from Joico, Cellceuticals, Karuna, Freeman, Barbor, StriVectin, etc. These are well known brands. They also say they use brands from emerging companies which is also fun.

The box/kit: I am very impressed with the little box it comes in. It's a well made sturdy reusable box hat can be used for gifting treasure boxes of your own making, keeping your treasures organized, etc.

The price: $12 Shipping included seems reasonable to me to be able to try a useful amount of product. Also you are picking the items out so theoretically you will always get something you will use.

Customer Service: I've had to email customer service for an issue and they were very prompt in responding and fixing the issue.  They seem to really care about their customers happiness with their products.

Skip a month: Not feeling it this month? unexpected bills? now you can skip the month. If you are a yearly member and skip the month then another month will be added to the end.  Yay!

The not so Good:

I honestly couldn't think of anything to put here.  Yep they are that good!

These are all the items I picked out this month.

This is a 7th item they included in celebration of their first year anniversary.  It's a mark mascara.  When I chose my samples they told us this would be included and we could choose black or brown.

Contents of box with approximate retail value listed:

.9 oz. Dermisa Skin Fade Cream.  Value = $7.11 (1.78 oz. $14.00)

Enspri Ultra Collagen 5-minute Facial. Value = $4.01

FULL SIZE Mark Hook Up lip gloss in Honey. Value = $6.50

.5 oz. GG Gatsby Raise Volume Shampoo.  Value = $0.89 (8.4 oz. $14.99)

1 Karuna Eye Renewal Mask. Value = $9.00 (set of 4 $36.00)

.03 oz. Whip Hand Cosmetics Loose pigment Shadow in special forces. Value = $4.20 (.10 oz. $14.00)

Beauty Army Birthday Bonus: January is Beauty Army's first birthday and they put an extra item in the box.

FULL SIZE Mark hook up Scanda-lash black mascara. Value: $6.50

The total value of my kit is $31.71 without the bonus item since that isn't always included.  With the bonus item the value is $38.21.  I went ahead and picked this month because I had been wanting to try the whip hand shadow.  I also have a couple of pigment spots I've been trying to get rid of so I wanted to try the face cream.  The other stuff, shampoo, facial stuff and eye mask I figured I would use.  I thought it was cool that they included a bonus gift for their 1st year anniversary. The Mark hook up products are interesting because they included a little connector where you can connect two products together.  Kinda of a nifty idea.

This is the mascara, the connector and the lip gloss.

Just use the connector and voila!  You have two items in one.

Verdict:  I like that I can skip if I don't see anything I want that month.

**I am not any type of sponsor paid or unpaid for Beauty Army. I purchase these kits myself.

Yumvelope is a subscription service centered around food and snacks.  Each month you receive a large USPS envelope filled with yummy goodies.  The cost for this service is $21 plus $3.00 shipping or you can sign up for a month to month subscription for a flat $21.00.  If you like what you get then you can sign up for 6 months for $126.00 w/shipping included and a bonus shipment (I'm guess that means an extra month free). With your payment they promise to all natural hand picked delicious items in each envelope.  Yumvelope has also started a meal donation program for each envelope purchased, and you know I'm a big fan of that.
The good:

Variety: There is a good variety of items.
Discounts: The try and send a promo code for each product so you can order your favorite products at a discounted price.

Size: They send full size or close to full size products which is always nice.

Meal donation: For every Yumvelope shipped they donate a meal.

The not so good:

Skip: No option to skip a month

Yumvelope Treasures!

Contents of box with retail price listed.

Mayesa Dark Chocolate Drink: Value = $2.00 - This was a nice minty drink.  I actually had this and some almonds for lunch and felt full.

Black+Blanco Sandcastle Marzipan cookies. Value = $6.00 - This is basically a really mild almond cookie.  I enjoyed it.

16 oz. bag of Weefulls Apple Cinnamon Waffle and Crepe Mix. Value = $10.99 - made waffles with this mix.  The boyfriend didn't like it.  The teenager thought it was good but said regular waffles were better.  I thought it was ok. I noticed they were still really moist in the inside.  I'm going to try making crepes next weekend.

1.5 oz. Ticket Kitchen Vanilla Mint Hot Chocolate. Value = $5.50

2.5 oz. Ticket Kitchen Grasshopper Pie Chocolate Bar. Value = $5.00 - This looks like they took chocolate pie crust and mint pieces and mixed it with chocolate and it's delicious!

.8 oz. Lush Nuts Dark Cocoa Chili almonds. Value = $1.24 - I thought there were spicy but the boyfriend thought they weren't.  Good size snack pack.

The total value of this Yumvelope is $30.73.  The chocolate bar was so good, I really liked the pie crust chunks in it.  I love almond cookies and the Black+Blanco cookies weren't like traditional almond cookies but they were pretty good.  The weefulls has fruits and vegetables in the mix so it's like eating a healthy waffle.

Verdict: I've really been enjoying my Yumvelopes

January PetFlow Spoiled Rotten Dog Box

Looks like there is another subscription box town for the pups in your life.  PetFlow contacted me and said they were introducing their Spoiled Rotten Pet Boxes.  I absolutely love the name!  They have spoiled rotten box for cats and one for dogs.  The company generously sent me both boxes to review.  This review will be on the box for dogs.

The Spoiled Rotten for dogs box is said to contains almost $40 worth products for $24.99 a month w/shipping included.  Additionally all the edible products in the box are all manufactured in the USA.  How great is that!  This is the debut box for PetFlow and the next one will be shipped February 15th.  If you use code SRB9 you can get $5.00 off your first month.

The Good:

Support USA: I love that all the edible products are manufactured in the US

Variety: There was an awesome assortment of doggie treasures in here.

Quantity: There are enough treats and toys in here to last a month.

Info: They include a card with information about the product and the price.  Also all the products are available on their website  I did notice some of the prices listed weren't accurate and didn't match the prices on their website.

The Not So Good:

Subscriptions: I would like to see an option to sign up for 3, 6, 9 or 12 months with a little discount built in.

Customization: The don't ask for information about your animal so I'm not sure how they know what size toy to send or if they just send a medium size one.

This is how the box looks on the outside.  The picture on the right is the inside of the box.  I love the little paw print tissue paper.  They also include an information card and the back has all the product info including prices.

Here are all the Spoiled Rotten Treasures.

Contents of the Spoiled Rotten Cat Box with retail price listed and PetFlow price listed last:

Frills the Triceratops with Chew Guard. Value = $14.99

10.5 oz. Luther's Treats BODY Smoked Bacon and Cheddar. Value = $6.12 (12 oz bag $6.99)

Bag of 21 Pet Naturals Breath Bites. Value = $7.49/$5.99

(2) Natural Balance Limited ingredient Duck & Potato Rolls. Value = $1.99/ea.

5 oz. Old Mother Hubbard P-Nuttier Mini Dog Biscuits. Value = $3.49/$2.99

John Paul Pet Full Body and Paw Dog Wipes. Value = $9.99

The total estimated value of the Spoiled Rotten box for cats is $44.06-$46.06.  Just as promised it's about  $40 worth and in this box more than $40 worth of treasures.  I thought this box had some pretty cool stuff in it.  I have seen the Natural Balance rolls before at the checkout line of the pet store and have always been curious about them.  The toy says it has had bite guard but I don't know, it doesn't look like it would last very long.  The pet wipes says it's for dogs but when I read the package it said it can be used on any pet and will help remove shedding hair.  My multi-color cat sheds likes crazy so I'm going to look closer at the ingredients and see if it's safe to use on cats.

Verdict: I thought this was a great box with a lot of different products to try.

**I am not any type of sponsor paid or unpaid for PetFlow  This box was sent to me free for review purposes.

January PetFlow Spoiled Rotten Cat Box

Looks like there is another subscription box town for the kitties in your life.  PetFlow contacted me and said they were introducing their Spoiled Rotten Pet Boxes.  I absolutely love the name!  They have spoiled rotten box for cats and one for dogs.  The company generously sent me both boxes to review.  This review will be on the box for cats but never fear I will follow it up with a review on the doggies box shortly.

The Spoiled Rotten for cats box is said to contains almost $40 worth products for $24.99 a month w/shipping included.

Variety: There was an awesome assortment of kitty treasures in here.

Quantity: I have two cats and there was enough items in here for my girls to share the box.

Info: They include a card with information about the product and the price.  Also all the products are available on their website  I did notice some of the prices listed weren't accurate and didn't match the prices on their website.

The Not So Good:

Finicky: Cats can be really finicky on what they will eat or play with.  You might end up with something you may not use - but you can always donate it or give it to a friend.

Subscriptions: I would like to see an option to sign up for 3, 6, 9 or 12 months with a little discount built in.

This is how the box looks on the outside.  The picture on the right is the inside of the box.  I love the little paw print tissue paper.  They also include an information card and the back has all the product info including prices.

Look at all the fun stuff packed in this box.  You can see Gracie in the corner patiently waiting to check her goodies out.

This box even made my usually camera shy black cat Izzi curious.  I think she smelled the giant tin of catnip.  This girl is a catnip junkie!

Contents of the Spoiled Rotten Cat Box with retail price listed and PetFlow price listed last:

Cat Dancer Original Cat Toy. Value = $3.49/$2.99 - Both my girls LOVED this toy.  It's basically a few pieces of rolled up cardboard on the end of a wire but when you hold hold one end it kind of bounces around.  They couldn't get enough of it.

Wellness canned cat food in cubed chicken entree. Value = $1.79

Wellness canned cat food in turkey entree. Value = $1.79

1 container of Lickety Stik Lickable Cat Treat. Value = $3.49/$2.99 - Gracie actually licked this and seemed to enjoy it.  It was kind of a pain to sit there and hold it for her while she licked it but after about it minute she had her fill so it wasn't too bad.

Super Cat Cave infused with catnip (4 per pack). Value = $5.99 - The girls inspected this but so far haven't taken an interest in playing with it.

Tropiclean Clean Teeth Gel for cats. Value = $9.99 - I've tried this before and I like the idea but the cats don't like me giving it to them.  It for cats and dogs so the last one I had I gave to a family member for the new dog.

1.75 oz. tin of PetGuard Leaf and Flower Organically Grown Catnip. Value = $13.99/$10.99 - This is a really big tin of catnip.  My junkie cat Izzi went cuckoo for it.  She rubbed her face in the tin and started drooling.  At one point she laid on the ground and made herself completely flat and looked like she was in total lala land.  She is normally so high strung that seeing her relaxed is a nice change.

The total estimated value of the Spoiled Rotten box for cats is $36.53-$40.53.  Just as promised it's about  $40 worth of treasures for the girls.  I was very happy with this box and I know my kitties enjoyed it.  I thought it was odd that the prices listed on the insert didn't match their website.  It wasn't a huge difference though and either way it's still a good value.  We've bought them toys in the past and they only semi-interested in them.  Who knew a $2.49 wire toy would keep them occupied for so long. I am shocked that Gracie actually liked the Lickable cat treat.  Izzi was thrilled with the catnip and I'm thrilled that it's organic.  It's actually a really colorful fun tin with enough catnip to last a long while.  I try and give the girls a canned food treat once a week and I'm sure they will enjoy the turkey and chicken flavors.  I was really hoping the girls would play in the catnip bag but I think they were occupied with the other goodies.  I left it out in the living room so maybe they will play with it when are at work.  I actually sprinkled some catnip on a toy I had and threw it in the bag for extra encouragement.

Verdict: I really liked this box and so did my fur babies.

**I am not any type of sponsor paid or unpaid for PetFlow  This box was sent to me free for review purposes.

Gracie enjoying the chicken flavor Lickety Stik.  The girls playing with the cat dancer toy. They both enjoyed this and it was so easy to use.

The Cat Cave bag has cat nip scent in infused in it and the more the cats play the more scent comes out.  They checked it out but didn't play much in it.  Perhaps they were tired from the cat dancer toy.
