Bulu Box - Weight Loss Box

In addition to their regular box Bulu Box also has a box focused on weight loss.  This box contains a variety of 4-5 weight loss targeting items including but not limited to supplements, fitness tools and healthy eating tools for both men and women. The cost of the box is $10 a month or $110 a year ($10 savings) which brings it down to $9.16 a month. The boxes ship around the 15th of the month so this box will arrive towards the end of every month.  This is a great way to try supplements and weight loss items without spending a ton of money.

This subscription box ships to the US only and ships from Lincoln, Nebraska.

The good:

New products: Weight loss products can be overwhelming and expensive to try.  This allows you to try new products for a low price.

Samples sizes: The sizes are really decent.  I received multiples of a few items which will allow me to try it a couple of times.

Information: They include a card with the product information on it.

Access to products: There are links to purchase the products on the Bulu website.

Points: You can earn points by reviewing products on their websites. Points can be used for discounts on full size items. I've used my points to by a protein powder I liked.

Skip a month: No but you can put your account on pause.  It will stay in that status until you reactivate it.

The not so good:

You may get products you won't use or don't want to use.  A lot of people don't like taking supplements which I totally respect but I would say this probably isn't the box for you.

October Bulu Weight Loss Box

Contents of box with approximate retail price listed:

Potent Fat Burner:
2 capsules Burn 360. Value = $0.97

Delicious Collagen Support:
1 NeoCell Beauty Bursts. Value = $0.33 - This tasted good but one wasn't enough to evaluate it.

1 Natural Vitality Calm drink mix. Value = $0.83

Herbal Allergy Relief:
2 doses, 4 capsules Rootology for seasonal allergies. Value = $1.50

Anytime Hunger Stopper:
Pocket Protein. Value = $2.90

Twin Sisters A Day At The Spa 2 hours of instrumental music download. Value = $13.99

Coupon for $25 off Livewell 360 gym bags. - prices start at $167 (for that price that bag better do the workouts for me!)

The total value of my Bulu box is $6.53 or $20.52 if you count the gift card. I already received this in another box so I won't be using this one. In the spring I will give the rootology a try. I've been using the calm drink mix but I'm not sure I see much of a difference in my sleep.
Verdict: I wasn't too excited about this months box.

If anyone wants to try a Bulu Box send me an email at and I'll send you a link via email for a free box.

October Escape Monthly - Hawaii Box

Escape Monthly is a fairly new subscription box this. It combines two things I love which are traveling and luxury products. Escape Monthly ships every month and includes full size luxury products, travel guides, secret tips and special offers. Each box has a destination theme and every month one lucky member will win a vacation to the destination.  The price of this box is $49.95 a month with shipping included. Right now they are running a deal. If you use code YOURESCAPE you will receive 20% for life. This means the monthly box will cost $39.95 a month instead of $49.95.

This box is available in the US only and ships from Lake Oswego, Oregon.

The good:

Products: You get full size products from the region of that month.

Referrals: The have an ambassador program that pays you via paypal for members you refer.

Travel: They give away a trip every month to the destination. There is a card in one box each month telling you if you've won.

Info cards: These are so important and theirs is fantastic. It includes product info and price as well as info about the destination.

The not so good:

Skip: So far I can't find anything on skipping.

Price: The price is quite high for a monthly box.

Hawaii Escape Box.
Contents of box with retail value:

Tub & Scrub Hawaiian Bath Salts in Oregon Rain. Value = $10.00

Gentle Scrub Facial Buff. Value = $7.00 - I would disagree with the value on this. I have seen these for no more than $3.00

Seashell Lei. Value = $5.99 - I've been to Hawaii a couple of times and you can get these all day long for a $1.00

Hawaiian Host Dark chocolate covered macadamias. Value = $2.00 - These are always delicious!

.5 oz. Honey Girl Organics Face & Eye Cream Value = $9.11

Small sample Honey Girl Organics Night Creme. Value = $3.10??

Big Island of Hawaii Travel Guide. Value = $17.99

Ola Tropical Apothecary Pikake Body Butter. Value = $10.00

1.75 oz. Personal Paradise Coconut Lime Body Lotion. Value = $1.88

Royal Hawaiian Orchards Papaya Lime Macadamia Crunch. Value = $4.15 - I thought this was delicious. Almost like cereal but with yummy mac nuts.

2 oz. Artisan Salt Co. Alaea Hawaiian Sea Salt. Value = $3.75

Tiesta Tea Maui Mango. Value = $7.99

Slice of Ostara Organics Lilac and Lillies Soap. Value = $1.00 - I think this may have been an extra for posting an instagram picture.

The total value of this box is $83.96 but I would say it's more like $75.00.  I noticed that on the brochure the prices listed didn't match the sizes of the item send. For example the Face & Eye Creme was listed at $62. The jar is quite small for that amount so I went to the company website and they don't have any size jar that matches that price but they did have a 1.75 oz. jar for $30.99. I had to do some research to get the correct pricing on. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with all these travel guides. We are thinking about going to Hawaii in the near future but we are for sure going to Alaska but I don't see an Alaska box in the near future. I will enjoy using the bath salts, lotions and soap. I thought the macadamia crunch was very good and of course chocolate covered macadamia nuts are always delicious. The tea looks interesting. It's looks like dried fruit more than tea.

Verdict: The Escape Monthly box is still high on one of my favorite boxes list.  Next month the box escapes to Vermont - That could be a fun trip

October Little Black Bag

Once again LBB lured me into their web with a great deal I couldn't resist. If you opened a bag with a pair of shoes $49.95 or more you received a purse worth $50-$115. I checked the site to see if there were any shoes I liked and I actually found a pair. I don't like buying shoes online normally because I'm always afraid they won't fit and it will be a pain to return. The pair I picked though looked pretty basic so I didn't think I would have any issues.

The cost of the whole bag depends on what you open with. The shoes I opened with ended up costing $59.65 after my VIP discount, taxes and shipping.

Existing members are automatically VIP members. The basics of the VIP memberships is that you are charged $9.95 a month which you can put towards a bag or save your credits and open a bag when you're ready. If you don't want to be charged just be sure and skip by the 5th of every month. If you do end up getting charged they money just sits in your account until you are ready to use it.

Shipping is $5.95 in the US except Alaska, Hawaii, APO/FPO and Puerto Rico is $11.95 and Canada is $15.95.

The good:

Like to shop? It's fun looking though the gallery and picking out treasures. I have found trading to be slow but I heard it's busier around the 1st of the month. I didn't really find that to be true.

The value:  Your bag is guaranteed to be worth more than you paid.

The brands. The brands range from very well known to not so well known with price ranges to match and they are always adding more.  Also they add new products a few times a week.

Multiple treasures:  You can score multiple treasures and use them for gifts at a fraction of the cost.

Variety. They have handbags, sunglasses, cell phone cases, iPad cases, earrings, wallets, nail polish, home items, etc.  You will find something you like.

The price:  Depending on what you open your bag with the price is very fair.

Received your items but didn't like it:  LBB will let you return the item for an exchange or refund.

Referral program. They just changed their referral program so now when you refer people they get 25% off and you get a item worth $50 in your bag. What a great deal!

The not so good:

Pictures: They show pictures of the items and list the sizes but I would like to see them on a model (real or fake) to see the scale.  I have received a couple of pairs of earrings that were bigger than I thought they were going to be.

Want more, more more?:  For now you can only open one bag at a time however there is no limit to the number of bag you can open.

These are the shoes I picked. cute huh? This is the screen that shows you what you will get. You aren't committed to buy yet until you go to the checkout page.

This page shows you the total and everything that will be in your bag. In addition to the VIP gift I also got a referral item. Thanks Misty P.!

Here is my bag. The shoes I picked, a pretty cool purse as a VIP gift, diffuser and candle set,

the pine cone necklace and my referral item (Thanks Misty P.!)

Now here's what I ended up with!

I have been wanting this bracelet for months. I was finally able to trade for it!

All my Little Black Bag Treasures with retail price listed:

OTBT Park City Flats. Value = $79.00 - These are cute but if you look closely they aren't the ones I picked. I was sent the wrong ones.

Big Buddha Embossed Tote. Value = $90.00 - I'm undecided on this. I like it but it's far from my normal style.

Amrita Singh Leaf Earrings. Value = $50.00 - These are pretty but way too big for me. I should've kept the pearl ones.

Bundle of 3 Dye Ties Headbands. Value = $12.00 - always useful

Lydell NYC Wings Cuff. Value = $24.00 - love, love, love this bracelet!

Me Too Owl Stud Earrings. Value = $14.00 - I traded for these because I think they will make a great gift and I already have someone in mind.

The total value of this bag is $219.00 or $269.00 if you don't include the referral item (Thanks Misty P.) I am so bummed that I was sent the wrong shoes! I was really looking forward to them, they looked so cute. I called LBB and was told to send a pic of the shoes and they would email me back and let me know if the ones I ordered were in stock or not. I've heard lots of people talking about issues with not getting the right items or stuff being out of stock since they moved their warehouse. Turns out in the move someone mixed up their inventory and marked things in stock when they should have been marked out of stock and vice versa.

After a 8 days I still hadn't heard anything back from LBB about my shoes. I sent them another emailing and I got a response right away. The offered the exchange the shoes and send me the correct pair without having to send the other pair back. I eagerly awaited my shoes and they day they came I opened the box only to find they sent the wrong shoes again! Can you believe it. I called LBB again and this time they said the shoes I was suppose to get were out of stock and they could send me something else or process an exchange and I can pick something from the exchange gallery. They let me keep both pairs of the wrong shoes they sent me which are cute but I don't really need two pairs of the same shoe. There may be a shoe giveaway in the near future.

Verdict: The big warehouse move seems to have caused some major issues with shipping. I hope they get this straightened out soon or else they may lose lots of customers and money.

October KLUTCHClub Box

KLUTCHClub is a monthly subscription service that focuses on health & fitness.  KLUTCHClub ships their boxes out on the 15th of every month. They advertise that the boxes contain over $50 worth of products or services such as snacks, new workouts or body care regimens to try.  I've a had a few months where the value was lower than the $50 promised but still higher than the price of the box. I don't count gift certificates or coupons that require out of pocket money in order to use them. KLUTCHClub offers three types subscriptions, one for women and one for men and now one for moms.  KLUTCHClub allows you to sign up monthly, quarterly or yearly. The monthly price is $18 a month, quarterly is $51.00 or $17 a month and the yearly is $192 or $16 a month.  Shipping is included in all of these prices.

This subscription is available in the US only and ships from Illinois.

The good:

Healthy: This box is totally dedicated to health and fitness. If you're just starting to get active this is a fun way to try new products or fitness regimens.

Need a gift: Have a health nut friend or want to encourage someone? Send them a month, 3 month or yearly subscription.

Information: They send a little info card on the products included in the box.

The not so good:

Skip a month: No skipping a month option.

October KLUTCHClub Box

Contents of box with approximate retail price/value listed.

(2) Happy Squeeze Greek Yogurt pouches. Value = $1.79/ea.

(3) Davidson's tea bags. Value = $0.37/ea.

Nature's Gate 40th Anniversary Body Wash. Value = $5.49

Seksi Pearl Infused Beauty drink. Value = $2.33

Bard Valley Natural Delights Medjool Dates. Value = $1.82

FiberLove Bar. Value = $1.99

Crum Creek Soy Bites Breadsticks. Value = $0.52

Gift Card for $600 off Retrofit weight loss plan. - plans start at $148 a month and this takes $50 a month off presumably for 12 months.

The total value of this months box is $16.75 not including the Retrofit gift card. They totally missed the mark on the $50 value that is promised in each box. I'm sure they are counting the gift card but I don't since it requires a considerable amount of money out of pocket. I'm excited to try the greek yogurt pouches. I know the happy products are geared towards kids but I am finding that I like them. I'm currently using the Nature's Gate body wash and it's almost gone so this new bottle came just in time. The Seksi (pronounced sek-see) says it has pearl powder in it, interesting. The fiber bars says it tastes like a soft-baked chewy cookie, that's a mighty big promise cause I love me a soft-baked chewy cookie.

Verdict: Even though this box missed the mark on the $50 value it was still more than the price paid and I will use all the products in the box.

Fall FabFitFun Box

FabFitFun is the newest celebrity endorsed subscription box to hit the market. This box is curated by Giuliana Rancic a co-host of E! News. I'll be honest I've heard her name before but I don't know anything about her so her curating didn't influence my decision to purchase but as you can see she puts together a great box!
This box is not a monthly subscription but quarterly meaning 4 times a year. Each season you will receive hand-picked, high-end and exclusive gifts including beauty, fashion and fitness products. The items are full sized and premium with a value of $120+. The cost of this box is $49.99 billed every 4 months.  This is the third FFF box.

This subscription in available in the US only and ships from Los Angeles, Ca.

The good:

The Products: You will receive mostly full size and premium products in each box and not just beauty items.

The Brands: They send well known premium brands

Quarterly: This is nice because monthly boxes can cause overload.

The not so good:

Price: The price is a sticker shock, but it's only 4 times a year as opposed to monthly.

Fall FabFitFun box.

Contents of the second FabFitFun box with approximate retail price/value:

Gorjana Canary Scarf. Value = $57.00

Barre3 Standing Slim DVD and online program. Value = $19.95 and $15.00 for the 1 month online code.

Starlooks 5 Shade Shadow Palette in St. Tropez.  Value = $41.00

Orville Redenbacher Popcorn classic butter & sea salt. Value = $2.49

Mini Game Packs sample pack from Awkward Family Photos and Loaded Questions. Value = $1.00

Surface Trinity Protein Cream. Value = $26.99

SpaRitual nail polish in Spice of Life. Value = $12.00

Health Warrior Chia Bar in Apple Cinnamon. Value = $1.57

2 packs - 1 serving Drinkwel . Value = $5.00

Bliss Triple Oxygen Instant Energizing Cleansing Foam. Value = $28.00

***Gift Card for $25.00 off Bliss Triple Oxygen Facial at a Bliss Spa. Value = $25.00

Bright Pink's Brighten UP card and Alert Sticker. Text PINK to 59227 for a monthly reminder to check your breasts.

I also received an extra in my box for a billing error. The error wasn't a big deal and they sent an email about it before I even knew there was an issue and said they would include and extra in the box for the trouble. I thought that was pretty nice

Orly FX nail polish in You Are Not Alone. Value = $10.00 - sooo sparkly and pretty!

The total value of the first FabFitFun box is $153.00 or $178.00 if you include the Bliss gift card. I didn't include the Orly polish because not everyone got one. I'm assuming it was my extra product because it wasn't on the list of included items. I should note that the Bliss cleansing foam wasn't in the box but I received an email saying it would ship separately and I received a shipping # from them today so I'm assuming it's the foam. I'm torn on the DVD. I've been wanting to check out the Barre workouts but I know myself and I don't like workout DVD's. I say I will do them but when I go to play it my finger does this weird thing where I find a movie to watch instead and I ended up sitting on the couch for two hours. The mini game pack was kind of meh - really it's just a sample of the board game. We eat popcorn frequently because we have a full size popcorn maker and can put all the naughty for you movie theater stuff in it. We will use the microwave bags though - we like to take those with us on vacation for popcorn in the room and we are going to Vegas next month. Speaking of Vegas I think I will take the Drinkwel stuff with me too. I don't plan on drinking to the point where I need this but I don't think anyone ever plans on drinking that much it just happens.

***My nearest Bliss Spa is 100 miles away so I'm not likely to use this. At the spa closest to me in San Francisco the price of the facial is $165.00. If anyone is interested in this gift card email me at and I will mail it to you. It's expires 12/31/13 and is not valid at Bliss DC, Bliss Boston, Bliss Fort Lauderdale or Bliss Atlanta Downtown.

If you want to subscribe and get this Fall box use code LASTCHANCE for $5.00 off.

Verdict: I wasn't as excited about this box as previous ones but it's still a pretty decent box.

Blacksocks Sockscription Review

I was contacted by Blacksocks and offered to send me a pair of their socks free for a review. Everyone needs socks so of course I said yes. These socks are for men so I let the boyfriend give them a whirl.

Blacksocks are made in Italy but they ship from Switzerland. There are no extra fees for the international delivery. All taxes and fees are included in the subscription price. The have a variety of different types of socks including knee socks, calf socks and sneaker socks. The fabric ranges from cotton to cashmere and they have anything from blue to black to multi-colored. You pick what you want when you sign up. You can also pick how often you want the socks delivered. The price ranges anywhere from $9 a pair to $25 a pair depending on what type of socks you order.

The good:

Hate to shop: A lot of guys don't like to shop so sock delivery might be perfect for them.

Need a Gift: There might be a guy in your life that would love to receive this as a gift.

Don't want socks: They also offer a subscription for tshirts, shirts and underwear.

Variety: The is a lot of variety in styles and colors.

The not so good:

Not sure - I would be curious to know how long the pair of classic socks last.

This is the classic black sock. The boyfriend said they felt good, they didn't slip or bunch. He thought they were thin and would be good with a pair of dress shoes providing you weren't doing a lot of walking. Basically he said they were ok for a basic pair of black socks and would pay between $8-$10 for them.

Verdict: This would make a great gift.

October BarkBox

Humans love treasures and I know dogs love treasures so why not a box for them?  BarkBox is based out of New York and every month they will send your pooch a box of goodies for their very own. The cost of this service is $19.00 to $29 a month.  All plans include shipping.  Monthly is $29.00, 3 months is $72.00 ($24 a month) and 6 months is $114.00 ($19.00 a month).  You tell them what size dog you have (small & cute under 20lbs, just right 20-50lbs or  big & bold over 50lbs.) and they send items for that type of dog.  The company also donates 10% of their profits to a shelter every month.  How awesome is that!

The Good:

Pets - Lots of people have dogs and it can be hard to figure out what products work.  This is a great way to try stuff out without spending a ton of money.

Donation - 10% doesn't sound like much but it all adds up. The shelters can use all the help they can get.

Semi-customized - your 10lb. Chihuahua won't be receiving a toy larger than it's whole body.  (Although I know lots of Chihuahua's that like to think they are bigger than they are and would love the challenge)

Need a gift - It's like a shower gift for someone with a new fur baby.  How cool is that.  Congrats on your new bundle of fur, here's 3 months of goodies to get you started.

Pricing options: I like that they have different pricing structures.  $29 is kind of a lot per month but $114 for 6 months is much more reasonable.

Dog like surprises? - Dogs usually love surprises. Everything is a surprise to them.  They can join in the surprise fun with you when you open their box cause you won't know what you get until it gets to you.

Referral program: They have an awesome referral program. For everyone you refer you get a free box and they get $5 off!

Need a gift: Know someone whose adopted a new pup. This makes an awesome gift!

The not so good:

Skip a month. This is not an option

Dog doesn't like it? This may happen. Our older dog didn't care much for the toys so we donated them to the shelter. Our new girl is a little picky so we have donated a couple of items back to her friends at the shelter.

Funny Side note:
I found this under the FAQ section of the BarkBox website:
Question: If I cancel in the middle of my subscription, will I still get all of my boxes?
Answer: You will definitely receive all of the boxes from your subscription, but don't be surprised by an rebellious brown smelly "presents" left on the living room floor when your dog learns of a BarkBox cancellation. ; )

Well played Barkbox, well played...

I brought this box in with 3 other boxes and Maddie immediately started sniffing this one out. She knew this one was hers for sure!

Fall BarkBox

Contents of the Bark Box with retail price:

Pet Qwerks Chevron Bear with squeaker. Value = $7.00 - Maddie loves the squeaky toys.

Your Dog's Diner Mutt Meatball Mix. Value = $7.99

Baker's Best Autumn Harvest goat liver treats. Value = $8.00

8 pack of Fruitables treats. Value = $6.00 - This came with 3 different flavors. Maddie didn't care much for the fruit ones but loved the bison flavored ones.

Superior Farms Lambs Ears. Value = $3.19 - Maddie is a huge fan!

The total value of this box is $32.18. This was a fun box. Maddie was all over this box when I brought it inside. Her sniffer was really attracted to something in this box. When I opened the box she went right for the lambs ears. I thought the smelled really bad but I don't like lamb meat and the ears had that definite lamb meat odor. The toy has a squeaker in it and Maddie is a big fan of the squeaky toys. This is already in her pile of favorite toys. The meatball mix is interesting - you add egg and make meatballs for your dog. I think she will love it.

Verdict:  BarkBox is a fun box for the fur babies in your house.

October Ipsy Bag

Ipsy bag sends out 4-5 samples and a makeup bag for $10 a month with shipping included. If you sign up yearly it's $110 which brings the price down the $9.16 a month with shipping included.  I've been with them for almost two years and this is one subscription I am for sure keeping. They constantly have a high product value with products that I use.

This subscription is available to the US and Canada and ships from Harrisburg, NC.

The good:

The samples: Usually you get at least one full size product in each bag.

The packaging: Each month the products come in a cute makeup bag for all your goodies.

Discounts: The almost always offer a discount on any additional purchases you want to make.

Semi-customized: You take a little quiz and your bag is semi-customized with products you will enjoy.

Points: You can earn points for reviews and referrals. You can redeem points for extra goodies in your bag.

The not so good:

Skip a month? There is no option to skip a month.  You have to cancel.

September Art of Beauty ipsy bag

Contents of bag with value and approximate retail price:

10 pack La Fresh Oil-Free Face Cleaner. Value = $3.33

2 oz. Delectable Vanilla & Cream hand cream. Value = $3.50

FULL SIZE Zoya nail polish in Giovanna. Value = $8.00

FULL SIZE Buxom Lip Polish in Dolly. Value = $8.88

1.7 oz. Sexy Hair Blow Dry Gel. Value = $3.39

white makeup bag with writing on it.

The approximate value of this months bag is $27.10. This bag was nearly perfect for me. I love face wipes - although I haven't tried this formula. I always keep hand lotion in my purse. Zoya nail polish is something I use all the time and I love the color. I frequently use sexy products in my hair and I'm out of blow dry gel. The only thing that is iffy is the lip polish and only because I have so much already but the color is really nice. I thought this box was fantastic and they did a really great job of customizing it.

Verdict: This box was made for me!

October Bro Box

BroBox is a fairly new monthly subscription box. This box caters to the bro demographic sending the coolest products from awesome brands & expert craftsmen. The price of the box is $14.95 with shipping included. Each month they send code to take a survey on the box. If you take the survey you will get a code for $3 off the next months box. This will bring the box price to $11.99. I don't know how long they will be including the survey discount but I'll take it.

The good:

Not recurring: I see this as good and bad. Good because you don't have to worry about canceling and bad because if you want it monthly you have to remember to order it each month

Need a gift: You can send a BroBox to the bro is your life.

Not just for bros: I noticed the items didn't have to be just for men. Woman could use them just as easily

The not so good:

Price: The price is OK. I think I would like it more at $10 or $12.

BroBox stuff

Contents of box with approximate retail price:

1.5 oz. Beanitos Original Black Bean with Sea Salt. Value = $0.90

Nurse Noni's Hangovers Suck. Value = $4.95

3 packs of Dude Wipes. Value = $0.32/ea.

2 bottles of Body Glove energy shot drinks. Value = $2.33/ea.

2 Firehouse Beef Sticks in mild and hot. Value = $0.95

BroBox drawstring bag. Value = $2.00

The total value of this BroBox is $15.37. I was actually pretty happy with this box. I wasn't happy that it arrived 3 weeks into October but I was happy with the contents. I like beanitos chips and the boyfriend loves beef jerky. The dude wipes are actually pretty handy to keep in my gym bag for a quick wipe down if I need to stop somewhere before going home. I haven't tried the energy drink but the boyfriend grabbed one before work on night. I'll have to remember to ask him how it was. The drawstring bag is ok. My trunk bag with my umbrellas and stuff is ripping so I might use this as a replacement. More hangover pills to take to Vegas.

Verdict: The value is even with the price paid and I liked the products.

October Beauty Box 5

Beauty Box 5 is a monthly subscription service for beauty products including makeup, skin care, fragrances, nail care, body care, beauty tool and just about anything else beauty related.  Each month you receive 4-5 samples of beauty related items.  They have three ways to subscribe.  You can pay monthly for $12 a month, or quarterly $30 which brings the price down to $10 a month or yearly for $100 which brings the price down to $8.33 a month.  Shipping is included in all these prices.

This subscription ships the the US and Canada from Austin, Texas.

The good:

The brands.  Well known brands including some eco-friendly ones.

The pricing structure.  I like the options they have, monthly, quarterly and yearly.  Even the quarterly gives you a little bit of a discount.

Information: They have started including an information cards on the products in the boxes which I love

The not so good:

Skip a month. Currently there is no option for this.  If you want to skip you have to cancel.

Doubles: Sometimes they send two of one item which I'm not a fan of.

October Beauty Box 5
Contents of box with approximate retail value.

1 oz. Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion. Value = $0.87

.16 oz. Model Co. Cheek & Lip Tint in Rosy Red. Value = $11.00

.25 oz. Nubar nail polish in Kristal. Value =$4.00

The total value of this month's box is $19.86. The items I'm really excited about are the nail polish, lotion and facial wipes. These are all things I use all the time. I'm glad I got the sparkly nail polish also because like putting sparkle on top of color. The toe separators are ok and pretty but I won't use them. I never paint my own toes I've heard good things about the cheek & lip tint. I know I had some from another box but I either lost it or gave it away. This size is great for the purse though.

Verdict: This months box had some very useful products for me.

October Love with Food Deluxe Box

Love with Food is a monthly subscription box filled with food. Their regular box contains 5+ gourmet food items. This month they sent out an email saying they were offering a deluxe size version of the box. You had to get on a waiting list for it since this was new and limited. I don't know how long it took but I didn't wait long. The price of this deluxe version is $19.95 with shipping included. Also for each deluxe box purchased 2 meals are donated to hungry children in America.

This subscription is only available in the US and ships from Santa Clara, California.

The good:

Bigger is better? I know some people don't like that the regular box is so small but it also comes with a small price tag. This box would be better suited for those with more than 2 people in their house. No more fighting over the caramel corn!

Variety: You get a lot of variety in each box.

Discounts: You can earn points for discounts off future full size product purchases by submitting reviews on their website or referring new members.

The not so good:

Value: The first one was pretty low, we will see how this one is.

Scary Delicious Deluxe Box.

Contents of box with approximate retail value:

(2) Silk City Snacks Chocolate Pizzelle Crisps. Value = $1.25/ea??

Snikiddy Baked Cheddar Fries. Value = $0.50

(5) Glee Gum in Triple Berry. Value = $0.23/ea. - not a fan

(4) Caveman Bakery New World caveman cookies. Value = $0.78/ea.

(5) Torie K Howard Organic Hard Candies. Value = $0.15??

Vinaigrerie Gingras Pixo Pearls. Value = $7.19

Happy Family Happy Squeeze Fruit & Veggie Twist. Value = $1.79

Dang Toasted Coconut. Value = $2.90 - LOVE this stuff!!

(2) Happy Tot Super Toddler Bars. Value $0.84/ea.

My Super Snack Chocolate Chip Granola Bites. Value = $2.25

(2) Coupon for Lean Cuisine Honestly Good Entree. (not pictured because I forgot) Value = up to $4.99

The total approximate value of this box is $23.83 or $33.81 with the coupons. This box was a much better value than last months box. This had mostly all the same stuff as the regular box just more of it. The items in it that weren't in the other box are the Snikiddy fries which I've had before and really liked. The other item is the chocolate chip granola bites which look promising. I was actually glad there were more of the pixo pearls because I really want to make something with these. The boyfriend saw the happy tot bars and asked me if I had something to tell him.  Ha Ha.

Verdict:  This Love with Food deluxe box was better than last month. If they continue to be like this I might cancel the smaller one and keep this one.

October Love with Food

Love with Food is a monthly subscription box filled with food.  Each month is a different theme and you will receive 5+ gourmet food items. The price is $10 plus $2 for shipping a month or you can sign up for a 6 month plan and shipping is only $1 or a yearly plan and shipping is free which makes the boxes an even $10. In addition to yummy treats for every box sold they donate a meal to a hungry child.

Love with Food has provided a code for $2.00 off for my readers.  Use code TREASUREVIP

This subscription is only available in the US and ships from Santa Clara, California.

The good:

The price: $10-$12 is a reasonable price to pay for yummy treats AND you're donating a meal.

Need a gift: You can send a 3 or 6 month subscription to a friend.  Who wouldn't love getting tasty treats in the mail?

Variety: You get a lot of variety in each box.

Discounts: You can earn points for discounts off future full size product purchases by submitting reviews on their website or referring new members.

The not so good:

Skip a month: Skipping is not an option.  If you don't want a box you will have to cancel.

Love with Food Scary Delicious Box.

Contents of box with approximate retail value:

Silk City Snacks Chocolate Pizzelle Crisps. Value = $1.25??

2 packs of Glee Gum in Triple Berry. Value = $0.23/ea.

(2) Caveman Bakery New World caveman cookies. Value = $0.78/ea.

(3) Torie K Howard Organic Hard Candies. Value = $0.09??

Vinaigrerie Gingras Pixo Pearls. Value = $1.79

Happy Family Happy Squeeze Fruit & Veggie Twist. Value = $1.79

Dang Toasted Coconut. Value = $2.90

Kind Snacks Nut Delight Kind Bar. Value = $1.50

Coupon for Lean Cuisine Honestly Good Entree. Value = up to $4.99

The total approximate value of this box is $11.34 or $16.33 if you include the coupon. I was happy to see the coupon because while I try and eat fresh most of the time there are some days where all I have time for is something quick. The pizzelle crisps looks yummy. At first I had no idea what the packet of liquid was and I knew it said pearls on the label so I thought maybe they melted. You probably can't see it in this picture but if  you look real close there are little pearls inside the vinegar. I am definitely going to have to figure out something with these. Maybe I will make some balsamic pearls to go with it. I love, love, love the toasted coconut chips. I would eat these over regular chips any day! I'm not a fan of glee gum but I'm sure someone will eat them. The last caveman cookies I ate were kind of odd. It was that odd where you keep taking bites and before you know it it's all gone. I've heard this flavor taste like pumpkin though which would be perfect for me.

Verdict:  This Love with Food was great!

The good:

Don't know what to buy: This is a great way to try protein bars, food, snacks and healthy stuff without having to go out a buy it.

Variety: They send a nice variety of products.

The not so good:

Skip: There is no option to skip. You can cancel and restart.

October Kona Kase Box

Contents of the Kona Kase box with approximate retail value:

Flapjacked Protein Pancake Mix. Value = $3.99

Honey Stinger Lemon Waffle. Value = $1.11

Musette Bakery Georgie Four Berry Tarte. Value = $2.00

Skratch Labs hydration mix. Value = $1.95

PowerBar Performance Energy Blends Pear, Apple Peach. Value = $2.49

1.5 oz. Kind Oats & Honey Clusters. Value = $1.00?? - I can't say much for the flavor because I mixed it in my yogurt.

Barnana Original Chewy Banana Bites. Value = $3.99

The total value of this Kona Kase is $16.53. I am actually kind of excited about this box. It has some things I'm familiar with and like and some new products I'm excited to try. The berry tarte looks really yummy - although mine is a bit broken. I really like the powerbar blends, they make a good quick snack. I had a different flavor of the honey stinger waffle before and loved it. It's like the rip van waffle things only healthy. I didn't open the barnana bag yet but it's really heavy and soft. I think the boyfriend will like it, he usually likes fruit snacks like these.

Verdict: I'm happy with the products and value in this months box.

October SeasonsBox

SeasonsBox is a monthly subscription service focuses on lifestyle items of the current season.  SeasonsBox  contains 3-5 luxurious full size seasonal must-have products for your home, body and spirit. They used to offer multiple month subscriptions but now it's a month to month basis. If you subscribe on a month to month basis the price is $34.90 with shipping included. If you want to make a one-time purchase or gift a box the price is $39.95 with shipping included. They also offer the box to Canada for $44.90 and $49.95 with shipping included (in US dollars).

This subscription ships to US and Canada.

The good:

Products: You get full size products and they send an email before shipment to let you know what's going to be in the box.  This is helpful if you want to skip.

Variety: It's not limited to beauty, health, food, etc.  There is a variety of items in each box.

Themes: I like the theme boxes. This one will focus on seasons, holidays or occasions.

Referral program: If you refer a friend you get $5 and they get an extra product in their first box.

The not so good:

Multiple month discounts: The used to offer discounts for multiple months but it looks like they have gone to a month to month basis. I had ordered a year when I signed up which will be up at the end of December.

Skip: They also used send a preview email and you could skip the month but it looks like that feature is gone as well.

Contents of SeasonsBox with approximate retail value:

Luci Loose Tea Infuser by Tea Forte. Value = $12.00

Dryad Tea loose Dry Court black tea. Value = $2.00

Molly Rose Vegan Pumpkin Cider Lip Balm. Value = $3.00

SomervilleSoapWorks Cider Spice Soap. Value = $1.00

The total value of this months box is $18.00. This is a very disappointing value however lasts months box was way high at $90 so of you got both boxes it evens out. If this were my first box I would be very upset at the value. I had purchased this subscription when it was new in January and had paid for the year which made it about $21 a month. So for me this isn't too bad but if you paid full price it's a huge difference. With all that being said I was happy to see the loose tea diffuser because I have lots of loose teas and I'm always misplacing my tea ball. I love pumpkin flavor stuff and I haven't tried the lip balm yet but it sounds yummy. The soap didn't have a real strong scent dry but I'm hoping once it's wet the spices will come out.

Verdict: My subscription runs out in December and I'm not sure I'm going to renew.

October Yumvelope

Yumvelope is a monthly subscription service centered around food and snacks.  Each month you will receive a large USPS envelope filled with yummy goodies. The cost for this service is $21 plus $3.00 shipping or you can sign up for a month to month subscription for a flat rate of $21.00.  If you like what you get then you can sign up for 6 months for $126.00 w/shipping included and a bonus shipment (I confirmed this is an extra month - so you get 7 months for the price of 6. This breaks down to $18 a month). Yumvelope promises to send all natural hand picked delicious items in each envelope.  Yumvelope has also started a meal donation program for each envelope purchased, and you know I'm a big fan of that.

This subscription is available is the US only and ships from Illinois.

The good:

Variety: There is a good variety of items.

Size: They send full size or close to full size products which is always nice.

Meal donation: For every Yumvelope shipped they donate a meal.

The not so good:

Skip: No option to skip a month

Contents of box with approximate retail value.

Sun Cups in milk chocolate. Value = $0.80

Sun Cups in caramel. Value = $0.80

Sun Cups in mint. Value = $0.80

3 oz. Savannah Bee Co. Grill Honey. Value $5.50

Two Moon Shortbread Bergamo & Chocolate Chip. Value = $1.75?? - I love the flavor combos this bakery comes up with, delicious!

Eco Teas Roobios Chai tea. Value = $5.49

Good Life Granola in Apple Crisp. Value = $6.50

The total approximate value of this Yumvelope is $21.64. I was really excited to see the sun cups in this months envelope. I received these before in a box way, way back and remembered them being pretty darn tasty. I could eat the shortbread cookies all day long! I love chai tea and since winter is coming I think it's going to be curl up on the couch and drink tea time. I was curious about the grill honey. What makes it different from "normal" honey? On the website it says it's made from a 100% pure varietal honey so it's robust enough to stand up under fire. I'm not too excited about the granola because I have about 3 bags sitting on my counter right now. I like granola but it's actually pretty high in calories so I don't eat it often.

Verdict: The two moon cookies and sun cups were the winners in this box but the other stuff was pretty great too.

Conscious box now offers 3 types of boxes. The classic, vegan and gluten free.  Each box contains a wide variety of items from food to beauty products to household goodies.  The price is $19.95 a month with shipping included. They also have a 3, 6 and 12 months plans. The 12 month plan is the only one that offers a discount.

I found a deal to get a year for half price so this box only cost me $9.00.

Information: They now include an information card with product details on it.

Points: You can earn points for rating products. The points earn you discounts should you want to purchase something you like.

The not so good:

The price: It's on the high side for subscription boxes but I would consider this a specialty box for sure.

Contents of box w/approximate retail price:

Gnu Foods Fiber Love Banana Walnut Bar. Value = $1.99

.2 oz. Goddess Garden Organics Lavender Mint Daily Lotion SPF15. Value = $0.21

Allimax Allicin capsules (2). Value = $2.00

Bio Bag Pet Waste Bag. Value = $0.15

The approximate value of my classic box is about $17.00. I liked this months box much better than last month. This one has snacks and lots of little beauty products to try. I thought this had a nice mix of stuff to try.  I like the idea of the biodegradable pet waste bag but I wish it were in roll form. I have the little roll attached to Maddie's leash for convenience.

Verdict: I like this box and the variety but only because I paid half price for it.

October Fancy Box - Coco Rocha

I'll be honest when I subscribed to this box I didn't know anything about Coco Rocha and really I still don't. I've liked the boxes I've received so far so I continued to subscribe. Coco Rocha is a Canadian fashion model which means her boxes are geared towards beauty and fashion. Fancy Box has a variety of boxes to subscribe to included celebrity curated ones like this. All Fancy boxes are $39.00 plus $7.95 shipping.

This subscription is available worldwide and ships from Devens, Massachusetts.

The good:

Products: Fun mix of items curated by someone in the fashion/modeling business.

Information: They include a nice card with the product information and picture.

The not so good:

Skip: There is no option to skip a month, only cancel.

Price: The price is a little high - unless of course it has great products and a high value.

Product cards.

Coco Rocha Treasures.

Contents of The Fancy Box with approximate retail price listed:

Tangle Teezer Salon Elite. Value = $15.00 - I don't have long hair so I'm not sure how useful this will be for me. I might use it as a stocking stuffer for the teenager.

Archipelago Pomegranate Gift Set. Value = $35.00 - As much as I want to try this I think it's going to make a great gift, so I'm stashing it for now.

Chalkboard Manicure by Ciaté. Value = $25.00 - I am really excited to try this. I have polish on right now but once that looks icky I'm trying this.

Stylist Magazine September 2013 issue from the UK. Value = $15.00 - I wasn't too into this. I'm not a fashion magazine reader so it was kind of lost on me. ***

The total value of this fancy box is $90.00. The most exciting item in the box for me is the chalkboard manicure set. I'm definitely keeping that for myself. The brush and archipelago set will probably end up being Christmas gifts.

Verdict: Fun box of beauty items from Miss Rocha.

***If anyone is into fashion and would like the Stylist Magazine email me at and I will mail it to you. Might be a fun resource for fashion design students. ****The magazine has been claimed*****

Tumbador Milk Chocolate Animal Crackers. Value = $7.50 - This was good for a little sweet snack.

The total value of this months box is $58.50. I loved that this box had a Halloween theme. The pumpkin carving set is pretty fancy. It had a heavy duty scrapper and other tools. I'm not sure we are going to be decoration pumpkins this year. I hadn't planned on it but since we got this set I may have to purchase one or two. All the other stuff was pretty yummy.

Verdict. I like these Fancy food boxes for sure!

Sample Society by Beauty Bar is a monthly service for beauty products that promises 5 fresh deluxe sized samples from luxury brands designed for multiple uses.  You also receive a coupon each month for $15 off a $50 purchase from Beauty Bar and a 12 month subscription to Allure magazine.  The cost for this subscription is $15.00 a month.

Referrals: If you refer someone to their site and they make a purchase the company donates up to $30 to charity.  I thought this was a nice gesture.  My referral code is pixiepower.

The not so good:

Skip a month: There is no option to skip a month, only cancel.

There is just something about getting all the grime off your face that feels so good! The hand cream will go in my purse. I'll use the perfume and BB cream eventually I'm sure but I'm still going through samples of similar items right now.

Verdict: It's like buying the polish and getting everything else for free!
