July Julibox - Collection Number 11 Caipirinha and Mayan Sunset

Julibox is a subscription box for those who like the beverages of the adult variety. Each month Julibox sends out a recipes for two different cocktails and all the ingredients necessary to make them (minus any fresh fruit).  Each cocktail will be enough to serve two people so basically you get four cocktails per box.  Julibox cost $40 if you do a month to month membership and can go as low as $36 a month if you sign up for a 6 month membership.  Shipping is included in all prices.  The nice thing about the 3, 6 or 2 month memberships is they don't bill you in advance they bill you once a month.  I sign up for 6 months at a time which takes the price down to $36.00 billed monthly.

They say you can buy more of anything you like in their shop but when I clicked on their store page the only thing for sale were some older boxes which were all sold out.

This subscription only ships in the US and only to certain states that don't have restrictions on alcohol shipments.  The package ships from Brooklyn, New York via UPS and requires adult of 21 years or older to sign.

The good:

Like new drinks: This is a great way to try new drinks without buying a full size bottle of alcohol.

Need a gift: You can gift Julibox. What a better way to say thanks than with a cocktail.

Monthly billing: I like that if you sign up for 3 months or longer they still bill you monthly.  If you cancel before the end of the subscription term they will charge you $15.00 This seems like a fair deal to me.

The not so good:

Price: The price ends up being $9-$10 per drink which is right around regular bar prices.  The benefit is you can drink in the comfort of your own home.

Don't like the drink: Well at least you don't have full size bottle sitting around not being used.

This months cocktails are Caipirinha and Mayan Sunset. Theme is Latin Lovefest.

Cocktail #1 Caipirinha

200 ml bottle of Leblon Cachaca Rum Value = $8.99

Total value = $8.99 for 3 drinks. This actually made 3 drinks which was nice. The drink was very good and simple to make. Just muddle lime and sugar, add rum and stir. I liked it and would make it again.

Cocktail #2 Mayan Sunset

50 ml bottle Grand Marnier. Value = $4.99

(2) 50 ml bottles Herradura Anejo Tequila Value = $7.49/ea.

Total value = $19.97 for 2 drinks.

The total value in this box is $28.96. This was a much better than last months. It's a about $7 less than the $36 I paid but I'm finding it mighty convenient to be able to try these drinks without having to buy full bottles of alcohol. I like the little cards also. I've been making notes on them and keeping them for reference.

Verdict: This box has grown on me. While the value is almost under the $36-$40 dollars I like being able to try new drinks.
