July Julep - California Coast Collection

Julep is a monthly subscription company for nail polishes. When you sign up for Julep you take a little quiz and it will tell you what kind of polish girl you are.  You are not obligated to stay with that that type though.  When I first signed up the website said I was Boho Glam but liked the It Girl colors better so I picked that one.  You always have the option of switching styles each month.  The monthly fee is $19.99 w/shipping included.  The company advertises that you will receive $40 worth of product for $19.99.  Also you will 20% all purchases from their website.

This subscription is available to the US and Canada and ships from Seattle, Washington.

Thank you to my awesome readers for using my referral link, because of you I received this box for free.

The good:

The colors: If you like nail polish then it's a nice way to experiment with multiple colors

Skip a month? Yes! you can skip a month.  They will send an email when your selections are ready and you have 4 days to let them know to skip the month.

Need a gift? If you want to send your box to a friend there is an option to do so.  Just log on to your account and click send to friend.

Ingredients: Julep is 4-free which means it's formaldehyde, formaldehyde resin, toluene or DBP free.

Referral program. You earn "Jules" for referrals, purchases, anniversary, birthday and upgrades.

The not so good:

Quality:  Some of the colors are more chiporific that others.  I find that if you are diligent about using a top coat it really helps.  I don't have that same issue with other polishes like Essie.

I went ahead and upgraded my box this month to the full California Coast Collection.

This is Tracy with the Freedom Polymer Top Coat.

Contents of Bombshell box w/retail price:

Karen, Boho Glam, Peach Bellini Frost. Value = $14.00

Faye, Boho Glam, Liquid Bronze Shimmer. Value = $14.00

Joanna, Bombshell, Lilac Frost. Value = $14.00

Blakely, Bombshell, Purple and Green Molten. Value = $14.00

Adele, Bombshell, Golden Reflective Top Coat. Value = $14.00 - This was a bonus polish for upgrading to the full collection and was one of the reasons I upgraded

Alaina, Classic with a Twist, Driftwood Taupe Crème. Value = $14.00

Cassie, Classic with a Twist, Soft Coral Sheer. Value = $14.00

Nadia, It Girl, Sun Kissed Golden Frost. Value = $14.00

Angela, It Girl, Deep Sea Blue Molten. Value = $14.00

Tracy, It Girl, Sparkly Ocean Blue Sea Salt finish Value = $14.00 - I don't like the texture of the sea salt but I like the colors and sparkles. I use the freedom polymer top coat so it's smooth to the touch.

Sea Salt Texture Spray. Value = $22.00

Beach Tonic Dry Body Oil. Value = $23.00

40 pack Julep Green Tea Facial Blotting Tissues. Value = $10.00??

The value of this upgraded box is $195.00 retail or $157.00 if you are a maven. The cost of an upgraded box is $55.00 (the base price is $19.99 plus $35 for the upgrade). I have skipped the last few boxes and have never upgraded a box but I couldn't pass this one up. I love sea salt hair texture. I used to use it all the time especially in the summer when I don't want to blow dry my hair. It's a quick way to get volume and texture. Dry Body oil must be the new thing, I'm starting to see it show up in boxes.

Verdict: I like Julep.  They offer fun boxes, skipping the month is easy and their mystery boxes are a great value.
