The Fancy Box - Tyler Florence

Most of you have seen my posts on the Fancy Food Box but The Fancy also does special boxes curated by celebrities. So far the have P!nk, Ashton Kutcher, Verbal, Coco Rocha, Jennifer Love Hewitt and this one by Tyler Florence. These boxes are the same price as the regular boxes which is $39.00 plus $7.95 shipping. I found a $25 off coupon which made this box about $22. It seems there is a bunch of discounts for The Fancy circulating out there. Try 20OFF15 and keeping adding numbers from there like 16, 17 etc so see if they work. This box is shipping monthly and is said to be the best home goods hand-picked by celebrity chef Tyler Florence. Each box includes $80.00+ of products.

The good:

Sizes: You get full size food items!

Information: They include a nice card with the product information and picture.

The not so good:

Skip: There is no option to skip a month, only cancel.

Price: The price is a little high - unless of course it has great products and a high value.

fun kitchen stuff!

No, thank you!

Take out your aggressions on the steak, then relax with some whiskey!

Contents of The Fancy Food Box with approximate retail price listed:

Tyler Florence Fresh Cookbook - SIGNED! Value = $35.00

Knuckle Pounder meat tenderizer. Value = $15.00

Sparq whiskey stones. Value = $20.00

Sunny Side Out Egg Separator. Value = $12.99

The total value of this first Tyler Florence box is $82.99. I think it's so awesome that Tyler Florence signed this cookbook! I seem to be growing a collection of signed cookbooks from chefs I've met.  Too bad I couldn't meet Tyler Florence since I now have his signed book. I have Morimoto, Thomas Keller, Chris Cosentino (I didn't get to meet him either), Georgeanne Brennan, Perry Hoffman and now Tyler Florence. I have a recipe signed by Scott Conant but I didn't have a book for him to sign when I met him. Sorry, I'm totally off track here....let's start over.

This box was awesome. I love the meat tenderizer. Since I already have a meat tenderizer (not as cool as this one though) I might save it and gift to to one of the boyfriends brothers. They would get a kick out of it. I've never used whiskey stones but I use something similar from skybar. These aren't just for alcohol though they can be used in soda, tea, coffee whatever you want to get cold basically. When I saw the egg separator I thought does Tyler really use this, I mean how hard is it to separate eggs? It looks pretty cool and mess free though so I will keep it in my kitchen gadget drawer and try and remember to use it the next time I need to separate an egg.

Verdict. I liked this box a lot. I will see what next month brings but I will have to pay full price.
