The Fancy - Fancy Food Box

Samplrs sent out an email mid February saying that they were joining Fancy.  The biggest change with this move is the price.  Samplrs was priced at $29.99 a month w/shipping included.  The new price with Fancy is $39.99 a month plus shipping and taxes.  This makes the new price $46.95.  Yikes! That's a $17 price increase.  Luckily for existing subscribers they are keeping the price at $29.99.  This is good news for me because I'm not sure I would pay $47.

Now I'm not sure if this box is the February box or March box.  I received this box the first week of March but I never received anything in February.  I've sent an email trying to clarify this but I haven't heard anything back yet.

The Fancy Food Box is includes 5 or more gourmet artisan food products along with a selection of tasty recipes and pairing suggestions.  This is the first Fancy Food Box so I'm hoping the value is there with the price increase.

The good:

Sizes: You get full size food items!

Information: They include a nice card with the product information and picture.

The not so good:

Skip: There is no option to skip a month, only cancel.

Price: The price is a little high - unless of course it has great products and a high value.

Here is my box of goodies.  Lots of gourmet items and some fun looking food.

Information cards for all the products.

Included recipe cards using some of the included products.

Contents of The Fancy Food Box with approximate retail price listed:

2 piece box of Fine and Raw Chocolate Bon Bons. Value = $8.00 - These were really chocolately, creamy and delicious - not sure they are worth $4 each but they were pretty darn good.

The Jam Stand Drunken Monkey Jam. Value = $8.50 - This is so good! I expected bigger chunks of banana but delicious none-the-less

Q Drinks, Q Kola. Value = $2.00 - I thought it was kind of plain.

Q Drinks, Q Ginger. Value = $2.00 - very gingery! too much for me but the boyfriend liked it.

Bag of 8 Biscottie Di Vechio, toasted almond biscotti. Value = $9.95 - I've had this brand before and really enjoyed it.  It's a nice almond flavor and holds up well in coffee.

Misstea Passionflower-Lavender Serenitea. Value = $15.00

Brooklyn Salsa Company Tropical Medium Salsa. Value = $7.00 - I had this on Triscuits and wasn't expecting it to be spicy.  I thought it was tasty though.

Charlito's Cocina Chorizo Seca. Value = $16.67

The total value of this months box is $69.12.  Ok I have to admit this was a pretty awesome box of food.  The jar the tea came in is really pretty and can be reused to hold spices - or make some bath salts and use that as the container. We eat salsa several times a week so the salsa product was awesome.  I love spanish chorizo so I'm going definitely eat this.  I'm curious about the Q Drinks, I'm not a soda drinker but I imagine the boyfriend will let me know what he thinks.  The drunken monkey jam looks delicious! One of the included recipes is for pancakes using the jam but I think I want to eat it plain on some bread.  This really was an awesome box of stuff.

Verdict. Fantastic value for me since I'm an existing customer. I think it's still a great value for new subscribers and I thought the products we terrific.

I am not any type of sponsor paid or unpaid for The Fancy.  I purchase these subscriptions myself.
