December Momme Box

What is Momme Box?  It's a new monthly subscription service that is marketed towards moms of all ages and backgrounds.  As most of you know I'm not a mom but I've noticed a lot of these mom theme boxes contain items that anyone would enjoy.  The price for this box is $20 a month of you can sign up for a 3 months subscription for $18 a month or a 4 month subscription for $15 a month, shipping is included in all the above prices.  With the 4 month subscription you are charged $60 and will get 4 boxes then you will be charged $15 a month until you cancel.  Each box contains items that will focus on beauty, health, lifestyle, home, education and more.  Also each month will have a theme to the box and you can actually look on their website to see what all the themes are for 2013.

The good:

Variety: They include lots of products for different aspects of your life.

Recurring: Unless you opt for the 4 month subscription this is not a recurring subscription box so you don't have to worry about skipping or canceling.

The not so good:

Price: $20 a month is a little high for a surprise box. $15 is much more reasonable but you can't skip if you go that route.

This is the box that all the products came in.

This is the description card that came inside the box.

Content of box with retail value listed:

FULL SIZE Kryolan contour pencil. Value = $16.00

FULL SIZE Kryolan High Gloss Brilliant Lip Shine in Crystal Rose. Value = $18.99

.17 oz. Kryolan Shimmering Event Foundation in Gold. Value = $2.90 (1.7 oz. 28.95)

.17 oz. Kryolan Tinted Moisturizer in TM3. Value = $2.90 (1.7 oz. $28.95)

.5 oz. Kryolan Ultra Underbase. Value = $5.70 (1.75 $19.95)

1 Our Skinny mini meal. Value = $2.25?? - I'm guessing on the price because you can't order these individually you have to order as part of a 1-4 week plan.

2 weeks free unlimited barre3 at home workouts (for new members only). Value = $7.50

.5 oz. packet Kelapo Coconut Oil. Value = $1.05

7 Nature's Kick Honeystix in clover honey. Value = $1.99

.75 oz. Vaska laundry detergent. Value = $0.32

4 ml. Good Clean Love Almost Naked Lubricant. Value = $0.87

coupon for $15.00 off any purchase at Mineral Hygienics.

The total value of the debut Momme box is $68.22.  I included the value of the coupon minus $5 because you have to pay shipping.  It's still a good deal though because you could get a mineral eyeshadow for $5 and they have great products.  There was a whole lot of fun stuff in this box.  The Kryolan products are professional grade makeup items.  I really don't have a lot of places where I feel the need to wear professional grade make-up so it may be awhile before I use this.  I absolutely love the way the Vaska laundry detergent so I will gladly accept any and all samples of this.  I will give the Our Skinny shake a try but I don't think I would sign up for their weight loss program.  For me I find anything that restricts me from eating normal everyday food for breakfast, lunch and dinner doesn't work for me. Honeystix are super yummy for a quick sweet snack or to put in your tea.  I keep hearing about all the health benefits of using coconut oil and I've heard you can use it as a substitute for shortening.

Verdict: This debut box has some cool stuff in it with a great value.  Can't wait to see what next month brings.

**I am not any type of sponsor paid or unpaid for Momme Box.  I purchase these subscriptions myself.

December Bluum Box

Like box subscription boxes? Have little ones?  This may be a box for you.  Bluum Box started as a box for kids up to 1 year old.  The cost of the box was $11 a month w/shipping included.  This month they sent information regarding some changes they are making.  They are now offering Bluum Toddler for kids 13 months and up.  This new box is said to be bigger, more customized and contain full size products with deluxe size samples.  The price of this box is $24.95 and will contain products worth $50 or more.  So if you sign up for Bluum Box be aware of these changes and be sure and enter the ages of your kidlets.

The good:

Products: There are so many items for babies out there, this is a great way to try new products without spending a ton of money.

Price: Reasonably priced

Need a gift: I think this would make a great gift for a new mom!

The not so good:

Surprise: You don't know what it's the box until you get.  This means you might get something you won't use.

Bluum Box Treasures. This months theme is Snow Angel.

Contents of box with retail price:

Angel Dear Ring Rattle. Value = $6.00

Child's Play Publishing Pocket Pals. Value = $1.99

2 oz. Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula Skin Therapy Oil. Value = $4.31 (5.1 oz. $10.99)

1 oz. Bonne Maman Preserves and Jellies. Value = $0.37 (13 oz. $4.79)

(2) packet Emergen-C orange. Value = $0.43/ea. (30 ct. box $12.99)

.57 oz. Montagne Jeunesse, 7th Heaven White Thai Mud Mask. Value = $2.49 (.7 oz. $2.99)

The total value of my Bluum box is $16.02.  The mask was supposed to be included in last months box but due to the hurricane it was delayed so they put it in this months box.  I love the cocoa butter oil, it seems so good!  You can never have enough vitamin-c during cold and flu season, although I'm not a fan of effervescent drink mixes.  The book is cute and the rattle is super soft.

Verdict: I think this is a fun little box for moms and it would make a terrific baby shower gift!

**I am not any type of sponsor paid or unpaid for Bluum Box.  I purchase these subscriptions myself.

December Pawalla Cat Box

Treasure boxes for dogs are pretty common but treasure boxes for cats aren't.  Pawalla changed all that and they offer a box for your dog or your cat.  The Pawalla Box is $26 a month or an annual subscription for $252. The annual brings the price down to $21 a month and is billed yearly.  Shipping is included in both plans.  Each box contains 6 or more new products including premium all-natural wet food, treats, supplements and toys.  The treats and toys are selected based on the age and size of your cat or dog.
The good:

Have a cat in your life?  Now there is a box for your kitties

Variety: There is a lot of variety is this box.  Everything from food to toys to supplements, just as promised.

Info: The provide a giant card with information on all the products included in the box.

Amount: The amount of stuff in this box was enough for both my kitties to share.

The not so good:

Price: It's a little pricey but if you have multiple cats they can easily share.

Subscriptions: I wish they had a 3 or 6 month subscription that offered a little discount.

This is the box.  It's fairly large and all the items have their own compartments.  You can also see the information card that is included.

Contents of box with retail price:

(2) Nature's Variety Instinct, Feline canned chicken. Value = $1.04/ea.

(2) Nature's Variety Instinct, Feline canned salmon. Value = $1.04/ea.

.60 oz. bag of PureBites Cat Treats. Value = $2.99
2 oz. bag Primal's Freeze-Dried Turkey Liver Munchies. Value = $5.99

2 oz bottle of Cat-Man-Doo chicken flavor sprinkles. Value = $5.59

2.1 oz. bag Greenies Smartbites for cats, hairball formula.  Value = $3.99

Fur_Zoff Pet Hair Remover. Value = $9.99

Spot's Eco Cat Natural Mouse. Value = $2.20\

Coupon for a free Primal starter pack.

The total value of my box is $34.91.  Wow there is a whole bunch of goodies in this box for my girls.  What I like about this box also is there is plenty of goodies in here if you have multiple cats.  I was confused by the coupon though because it says "only good at this store" but it doesn't say which store.  I'm going to check my local Petco when I buy the girls food and see if they have this product and will take the coupon.

Verdict:  This is a fun box for kitties.

**I am not any type of sponsor paid or unpaid for Pawalla.  I purchase these subscriptions myself.

I tried to get a picture of Gracie with the item in the box but she was being a typical cat that day and not cooperating.  This was as much cooperating as she was going to to.

December Eco Emi Box

Here's the basics about Eco Emi.  It's a monthly subscription service that sends a minimum of 5 eco-friendly/conscious products to your door for $15 a month w/shipping included.  The products range from beauty, household, food, etc.  I really enjoy the variety of items they send.  It's not just food, beauty etc. You get a little bit of everything. It's something everyone is your house could enjoy.  My Eco Emi boxes are always nicely packaged and chock-full of goodies.

The good:

Price: Eco-friendly product samples can be difficult to find.  I appreciate being able to try these products for a fraction of the price of purchasing full size.

Eco-friendly: Every little bit helps

Variety: Not just beauty products.  You get food, home, drinks, etc.

Want more: Sometimes they have left over boxes that they sell after the subscriptions have been sent out.  The cost of these is $15 w/shipping included.  Kinda cool if you really like or know someone that would really like that months box.

Skip a month:  You can put your account on pause if you want to skip.

Information: They put a card in every box with information on the products as well as the price.

The not so good:

Payment: You have to set up a recurring payment through PayPal.  I don't like this because PayPal makes you use your PayPal balance before they take money from your checking/credit card.  I like to save my PayPal balance for misc eBay purchases.

December treasures!

Contents of box with retail price listed:

.18 oz. Blissoma Vegan Adaptive Energy Facial Tonique Tone Value = $1.00 (4 oz. $21.99)

The total value of  this box is $18.30.  Once again there is a lot of variety in this box.  I could smell the toothpaste before I even opened the box.  I'm not a fan of black licorice so I'm not too sure about brushing my teeth with it.  Of course I will use all the face scrubs, lotion and perfume.  I have the dental stuff from another box but I keep forgetting to try it.

Verdict: great all around box with lots of variety.

**I am not any type of sponsor paid or unpaid for Eco Emi.  I purchase these subscriptions myself.

December Samplrs Box

Samplrs is a monthly subscription service that revolves around food.  Each month you will receive 4-6 full size products from up and coming food artisans.  The cost is $29.99 a month w/shipping included.  That's a little higher than other food subscriptions but if you like trying new artisan type foods it's well worth it.

The good:

Sizes: The company gives you full sizes of the products.  Now you don't have to hide your treasures from other people, unless you don't want to share.

Price: If you are into gourmet food items then the price is awesome.  These are not products you are likely going to find on sale in your local grocery store.

Discounts: You can buy the products you receive on the Samplrs website and in addition you can earn points which can be used for discounts in the marketplace

Information: They include a card with the product information.

Vegetarian: You can opt to receive an vegetarian-only box which will contain vegetarian alternatives to featured meat products.

Skip: Yep you can skip a month by calling or emailing them before the month's cut off date.

The not so good:

I got nothin'

Contents of Samplrs Box.

16 oz. bag Robicelli's Hot Cocoa Mix. Value = $15.00 - This is very good hot chocolate especially because you can make it without milk and it's still creamy and delicious!

4.4 oz. package of Black + Blanco Sandcastles Vanilla Black Sesame Cookies. Value = $6.00 - interesting little cookie.  a little dry but the flavor is nice.

7 oz. The Gracious Gourmet Lemon Artichoke Pesto. Value = $10.00

14 oz. bag of Granola Lab Cranberry Cashew Compound. Value = $9.00

The total value of this months box is $40.00.  There are some really great products in this box.  The Gracious Gourmet makes some great products and I've never tried their lemon artichoke pesto but I'm betting it's delicious!  I'm up to my ears in granola right now but this one sounds good since it has cashews in it.  The cocoa mix sounds delicious and we will definitely give this a try.  They also included recipes for lemon artichoke pesto dip and chicken artichoke pesto pasta using the pesto mix.  Both recipes look easy and delicious.

Verdict. This box never disappoints.  It consistently offers great stuff and a great value.

I am not any type of sponsor paid or unpaid for Samplrs.  I purchase these subscriptions myself.

December Glossybox

Glossybox is a monthly beauty subscription service that sends 5 travel size beauty items a month.  You can sign up monthly for $21/month, 6 months for $115 (breaks down to $19.16/month), or yearly for $220 (breaks down to $18.33/month).  Shipping is included in all of these prices. The price is a higher than a lot of the other beauty companies but they say they include luxury items.  The company ships their boxes towards the end of the month so you will receive it at the end of the month.  There is a little customization from a survery you take when you sign up.

The good:

The brands: They have well known quality brands like OPI, Zoya, Burberry, C.O. Bigelow, Ahava, Sebastian and other brands specific to other countries.

The sizes: They send deluxe size samples and a couple of items were full sized.

The box: I know it's just a box but it's a really nice sturdy box in a nice shade of pink.  The only logo is on the top and it's not very big.  That makes this box perfect for reusing for a gift box.

Information. They provide information on the products you receive and how much the full size is priced at.  I like knowing this info up front and not having to search for it.

Free stuff: If you provide feedback on your products you earn Glossydots which will eventually earn you a free box.

The not so good:

The price: This can be a little high for some people but if you want to receive known/quality brands it's worth it.

My Glossybox Treasures.  The card says Glamour, Glitz & Gloss. How exciting!

Contents of box w/retail value listed:

1.5 oz. Denise Richards Volume Extend by Christophe. Value = $3.00 (10 oz. $20.00)

5.5 oz. Heartland Fragrance Co. Bath Salts in White Tea Value = $1.83 (30 oz. $10.00) - Used half the package in the bath, has a nice light scent

FULL SIZE Mark Lipclick Luxe Lipstick in m.powermint petal. Value = $12.00

.03 oz. Pleasts Please by Issey Miyake eau de toilette. Value = $0.89 (3.4 oz. $92.00)

.05 oz. Wella Velvet Amplifier style primer. Value = $0.42 (1.9 oz. $16.00) - I love this stuff.  It put some much volume in my hair and didn't leave it feeling greasy or heavy.

FULL SIZE Zoya glitter nail polish in Electra. Value = $8.00

Jewelmint Sparrow earrings. Value = $29.99

The total value of my Glossybox is $56.13.  I love Zoya polish and sparkly polish.  I also enjoy adding bath salts to my baths and this one smells really good.  I was surprised to see a Jewelmint item in here and I like Jewelmint but I'm not a fan of these earrings.  I like the way they look but they are too heavy for me.  I'm all for hair care products and especially ones that add volume.

Verdict: This months Glossybox is fun.

** I am not any type of sponsor paid or unpaid for Glossybox.  I purchase these subscriptions myself.

December Bespoke Post - Breathe

Bespoke Post is a monthly subscription box that is geared towards men.  Why they say it's for men is beyond me cause I think lots of woman would love their products.  Maybe it's a marketing thing to get more men to buy and the women don't care if it says it's for men they will buy it anyway.

Bespoke Post advertises their subscription service as a monthly box of awesome.  The way is works is like this.  You subscribe by giving them your email address.  This doesn't obligate you to anything but it will give you the ability to look at the available boxes.  If you like the box you can purchase it, if you don't then do nothing.  When I first signed up the box offered was men's socks.  The boyfriend wears white socks and the occasional black socks with dress shoes so this wasn't something I was interested in.  The next month I received an email on the 1st of the month and with something that was right up my alley.  The price of the box was $45.00 w/shipping included. If I had decided I didn't want that month's box all I would have to have done is skip by the 5th of the month.  If you don't skip you get a credit towards a future box.

The good:

Know what your getting: $45 is a lot to spend on a surprise so Bespoke let's you know what the expect and you decide if you want it or not

Different boxes: They are now offering differing boxes each month.  In December they had 3 different ones to choose from or get one of each.  The choice is yours.

Don't like the box you received: Bespoke lets you return your box for a refund or credit.  How awesome is that.

Skip a month: don't want any of the boxes, trying to save money - just skip the month

The not so good:

I really can't think of anything

Here are my Bespoke Treasures.

Decanting flask, Bespoke Custom Series. Value = $25.00?? - I couldn't find an exact price on this since it was a custom decanter but $25 is the average price I found.

WMF Aeration Funnel. Value = $22.50

Decanter Cleaning beads, Bespoke Custom Series. Value = $19.99 - I couldn't find an exact price on this since it was a custom decanter but I found similar ones at wine enthusiast priced at $19.99.

$50 gift card to

The total value of my Bespoke Post box is $117.49.  That more than double the price!  I've been wanting a decanter for awhile never bought one.  I thought this one looked cool since it was shaped like a flask.  The funner is great because it has a screen inside to catch any sediment and the bottom metal piece has holes at the bottom so when you pour the wine it sprays the whole inside of the flask.  The beads are used to clean the decanter. You just put the beads in the decanter with water and swirl until it's clean.  I looked around and they had lots of choices under $50 so with this gift certificate you can score yourself a few bottles of wine.

Thanks to Allyson F. who used my referral link for Bespoke post.  I was able to get this box of awesome at a discount because of her.  Allyson, hope your enjoying your box of awesome!

Verdict: This is box #2 for me and I'm liking it.  Great value and great products.

It really looks like this when the wine is poured in.  It's very cool looking.

**I am not any type of sponsor paid or unpaid for Bespoke Post.  I purchase these subscriptions myself.

December Mantry Box

Mantry is a new subscription box geared towards men but it's food products and the way I see it is woman eat food too so I signed up.  They recently put out a email saying you could sign for a month or 3 months.  The price per month is $75.00 and the 3 month subscription is $225.00 and shipping in included in both prices.  It looks like they have changed a little bit and are more consistent with their pricing and billing.  Each month the crates have a theme and this months theme is Into the Wild.

The good:

Packaging: Comes in an awesome little crate.  This can be used to store all kind of stuff.  I'm currently using one to store extra beauty products and one for miscellaneous small gifts I've purchased.

Products: Full size specialty items. Now I don't know if this is always the case because there was no info on what the expect.  There are like the ultimate mysterious man only in the form of a business.

The not so good:

Price: It's a high priced monthly subscription and the value fluctuates.

Contents of the Mantry crate.  The crate itself was a little darker wood that the other two crates

Contents with retail price listed.  ALL products are full size.

4 oz. bag Alaska Pure Sea Salt Co. Alder Smoked Sea Salt from Sitka, Alaska. Value= $10.00

9 oz. jar Kahiltna Climax Birch Caramel Syrup from Palmer, Arkansas. Value $11.00

20 oz. jar Motherlode Provisions Honey Lavender BBQ Sauce from Gold Hill, Colorado . Value = $10.00

1.4 oz tin Juniper Ridge Douglas Fir Spring Tip Tea bags from Sierra Nevada California. Value = $12.00

4 oz. bag Gary West Buffalo Strips from Jacksonville Oregon. Value = $18.99 - the one small piece I was able to try was good but a little salty.  The boyfriend described it as kinda "wet" and salty but this didn't stop him from eating the whole bag - and that was after he had dinner.

The total value of this Mantry box is $62.99.  That value is about $12 lower than the sale price but there is some really cool products in the box so I'm totally ok with that.  I opened the tea and it smelled just like our Douglas Fir Christmas tree currently in our living room.  I like the smell but I'm not sure I would like to drink it.  I'll willing to give it a try though.  We BBQ a lot and I love sea salt so both those things are excellent for us.

Verdict: They are hit and miss on the values of the boxes.  I really liked this one.

**I am not any type of sponsor paid or unpaid for Mantry.  I purchase these subscriptions myself.

December Beauty Box 5

Beauty Box 5 is a monthly subscription service for beauty products including makeup, skin care, fragrances, nail care, body care, beauty tool and just about anything else beauty related.  Each month you receive 4-5 samples of beauty related items.  They have three ways to subscribe.  You can pay monthly for $12 a month, or quarterly $30 which brings the price down to $10 a month or yearly for $100 which brings the price down to $8.33 a month.  Shipping is included in all these prices.

The good:

The brands.  Well known brands including some eco-friendly ones.

The pricing structure.  I like the options they have, monthly, quarterly and yearly.  Even the quarterly gives you a little bit of a discount.

Like surprises? Boxes ship out on the 15th of every month and you never know what's going to be in it.  I like surprises so this is a positive for me.  Also since this ships out in the middle of the month you get a little treasure towards the end of the month.  Most monthlies ship at the beginning.

Information: They have started including an information cards on the products in the boxes which I love

The not so good:

Skip a month. Currently there is no option for this.  If you want to skip you have to cancel.

All the items in this months box were full size.  How awesome is that.

Contents of box with retail value.

16 pack of Jean Pierre Cosmetics Exfoliating Facial Cleansing Pads. Value = $1.99 - I really like these.  They exfoliating part works really well and I feel like I'm scrubbing the bad stuff off my face.  I can see using these in the future.

Everyday Minerals Flat Top Brush. Value = $12.99

1 MaskerAide Hydrating Facial Sheet Mask. Value = $4.99

OFRA Cosmetics 3D Eye shadow in Golden Sparkle. Value = $19.90

Demeter Roll On Perfume Oil. Value = $10.00

The total value of the box is $49.87.  The cleansing pads look interesting.  I use Neutrogena cloths every night so I'm going to try these.  I like to use the face masks in the bath so I'll give this a try.  At first I thought the OFRA product was a blush but when I realized it was an eye shadow I was happy.  It's a really nice bronze color.  The Demeter oils are nice to throw in your purse or travel bag.  This months box has some really great things in it.

Verdict: Lots of fun goodies for $10.00!

**I am not any type of sponsor paid or unpaid for Beauty Box 5.  I pay for these subscriptions myself.

December Kara's Way Box

This is the second box of the newly relaunched Kara's Way box.  Kara's Way cost $15 a month with shipping included and the promise to send 5-10 samples in each box.  They also just announced discounts for 3, 6 and 12 month subscriptions which can bring it all the way down to $11.25 a month.  What I like about these type of boxes is being able to try the products.  Natural, organic, vegan products sometimes tend to be a little more expensive than traditional beauty items and it's a nice way to try the items without have to buy a full size item and pay full size price.

The good:

Products: You will receive natural, organic and or vegan items for a fraction of the cost.  It's a great way to try products out without spending a ton of money.

Pricing: You can sign up for 3, 6 or 12 month subscriptions and each one saves you a little bit of money.

The not so good:

Skip a month: If you have an ongoing subscription you can't skip, only cancel.

These are my goodies.  Like before the Kara's way tag is actually filled with seeds.  You can put it in a pot with soil and watch it grow.

Contents of box with value and retail price of full size product listed:

.5 oz. jar Hollybeth Organics Grits & Honey Scrub. Value = $6.25 (2 oz. $25.00)

FULL SIZE Sheswai Lacquer Earthy. Value $16.00

.2 oz. Native Touch Warrior Bear Rub. Value = $3.11 (1.8 oz. $11.99)

1 oz. Coastal Scents African Black Soap. Value = $0.82 (16 oz. $12.95)

1 Priti NYC Soy Nail Polish Remover. Value = $1.00 (10 pack $9.99)

TruJoy Sweets Organic Candy Cane. Value = $0.50

The total value of this box is $27.68.  I've used the soy nail polish remover before and I really liked it.  I've also used the African black soap and wasn't impressed by it.  I love the color of the nail polish and the gorgeous top is made of sustainably harvested hard wood.  I'll add the sugar scrub to my little collection of things to enjoy in the bath and the lotion to my purse.
Verdict:  This is a great box with a nice variety of items.

**I am not any type of sponsor paid or unpaid for Kara's Way.  I purchase these subscriptions myself.

December Yumvelope

Yumvelope is a food/snack monthly subscription service.  Each month you receive a large USPS envelope filled with goodies.  The cost for this service is $21 plus $3.00 shipping or you can sign up for a month to month subscription for a flat $21.00.  If you like what you get then you can sign up for 6 months for $126.00 w/shipping included and a bonus shipment (I'm guess that means an extra month free).  With your payment they promise to all natural hand picked delicious items in each envelope.  Yumvelope has also started a meal donation program for each envelope purchased, and you know I'm a big fan of that.  This month they also made a small loan to a food entrepreneur through Kiva which I also love!

The good:

Variety: There is a good variety of items.  A couple of the products I received I've tried before and like so I was glad I received them.

Discounts: The try and send a promo code for each product so you can order your favorite products at a discounted price.

Size: They send full size products which is always nice.

Meal donation: This month they started a program to donate a meal for each box purchased.

The not so good:

Value vs. Price: This seems to fluctuate from month to month.  Lately it's been in the higher range which is great.

Here are my yummy treasures.  The chocolate can got a little dented in the mail but the product was still safe inside.

Contents of box with retail price listed.

4 oz. bag Li'l Puffs Vegan Marshmallows.  Value = $6.00 - I love marshmallows but I didn't care much for the texture of these.  They were really soft and almost wet.

10 serving can of Intrigue Chocolates Co. Hot Cocoa. Value = $10.00

(2) Comanzo & Co. Biscotti. Value = $6.00 ??- these were sooooo good. They were still soft in the package and perfect for dipping in my coffee. I couldn't find the value of these but I think they are worth $6 a pack.

1.5 oz package with 5 JJ's Cocomels. Value = $3.99 - These had a caramel flavor but an odd aftertaste to me.  It wasn't bad just odd.

1 Cascadian Farm Organic Chewy Granola Bar. Value = $1.03 (6pk. $6.19)

1 Athena Blueberry Greek Yogurt Bar. Value = $1.89 - The boyfriend ate this.  He seemed to enjoy it.

Bonus item for submitting a survey:

Tru-Sweets Organic Candy Cane.  Value = $0.50

The total value of this Yumvelope is $28.91 (not including the bonus item). I was really excited about the marshmallows but I didn't really like them.  That's the beauty of these boxes though, you can try things at a discounted price.  On the flip side I loved the Biscotti and was so happy I've been introduced to these tasty treasures.  Snack bars are always great to have around my house.  I love being able to grab these when I'm on the go.  I can't wait to try the chocolate, it sounds yummy.

Verdict: I've really been enjoying my Yumvelopes

Cravebox Winter Favorites

Cravebox has changed they way they send out their boxes.  They no longer offer a subscription service and limited edition boxes.  Now they just offer Craveboxes and this is how it works.  If you sign up for on their website to be notified when a box becomes available they will send you an email.  You submit your entry and if picked they send you out a box.  They will tell you the price of the box in advance but you don't get to know what's in the box, just the theme of the box.

This box offered is the Winter Favorites Box.  The price of this box was $14.00.

The good:

Themed Boxes: While you don't know what exactly is coming in your box you know the general theme and the price it will be.

The price: I don't think  I've ever paid more than $14.00 and the value (with the exception of 1 box) was always great.

The not so good:

I can't think of anything.

All my winter treasures from Cravebox.

The total value of the Winter Favorites box is $47.27.  The best part is I will use absolutely everything in this box including the coupons.  I had actual bought the Campbell's tomato bisque soup the other day and it was very good.  I'm looking forward to trying to butternut squash one.  The Mary Kay lip gloss is a very nice glitter red, perfect for the holidays.  I'm always happy when I get bath washes because it's something I use everyday.

Verdict: This was a terrific box!

PopSugar Must Have Luxury Edition Box

By now most of you know about the PopSugar Must Have Box and how much I love it.  Earlier this year they offered a limited luxury edition box. Now the luxury box was considerably more money at $100 but they promised luxury items and a value of over $200.  I debated because $100 is a lot of money to risk but I love the regular boxes so much I thought they would for sure go over the top on this luxury box.

This is how the box came.  It's a really sturdy black box with the silver ribbon.  All the goodies insider were wrapped in black tissue.

All my PopSugar Luxury Edition Treasures.

Contents of box with retail price:

Must Have Fashion
Jewelmint Gold Metal Envelope Bag Clutch. Value = $59.99

Must Have Beauty
8 oz. Epicuren After Bath Moisturizer. Value = $34.00

Must Have Food
Set of 9 Vosges Mini Chocolate Library. Value = $25.00

Must Have Home
Campagnie De Provence Liquid Hand Soap. Value = $24.00

Must Have Home
Tocca Scented Candle. Value = $38.00

Must Have Fashion
Polished Brass Heather Belle Cuff. Value = $52.00

Must Have Beauty
Deborah Lippmann Lip & Duo Duet. Value = $38.00

The total value of this month's box is $270.99.  Overall I think this is a good deal but there are a couple of things in here I just won't use and sadly those items have the highest value.  I remember when Jewelmint was selling the metal clutches and I wasn't a fan of them then.  Also the cuff is nice looking but I don't wear a lot of big gold jewelry and it's just a little too small for me.  Even not counting those items the box still has a value of $159.00 and I'm happy with that.  I've had Vosges chocolates before and they are really tasty and come in all kinds of fun flavors. The Deborah Lippmann set is a gorgeous color.  I can see using my bath salts from the Glossybox and lighting this Tocca candle and enjoy a nice relaxing bath.

Verdict: The PopSugar luxury edition box was fun and had some cool stuff in it.  Would I buy it again? Not sure.

December Bulu Box

Bulu Box is a monthly sample box that contains 4-5 premium vitamin and supplement nutrition samples.  These samples are for both men and women.  The cost of the service is $10 a month or $110 a year ($10 savings) which brings it down to $9.16 a month. This is a great way to try supplements and health type foods without spending a ton of money.

The good:

New products: Nutritional products can be overwhelming and expensive to try.  This allows you to try new products for a low price.

Samples sizes: The sizes are really decent.  I received multiples of a few items which will allow me to try it a couple of times.

Information: They include a card with the product information on it.

Access to products: There are links to purchase the products on the Bulu website

The not so good:

Skip a month: No can do, you will have to cancel.

Bulu treasures!

Contents of box with retail price listed.

2 oz. Marz Mega Dose Vitamin C Spray. Value = $19.99 - I've been using this because everyone around me has a nasty cold but it's really icky tasting.  It's a super concentrated orange flavor that tastes really bad.

1/3 of a serving packet Re-Body Safslim.  Value = $$0.33 (30 servings $29.99)

1 packet Vibrant Health Vibrant Cleanse. Value = $2.04 (15 packets $30.55)

1 Ostrim Jerky Stick Teriyaki flavor. Value = $1.75 (10 sticks $17.50) - tasty

21g Sunwarrior Warrior Blend Vegan Protein. Value = $1.13 (500g $26.95)

1 month free training from the PumpUp available on the AppStore.  Value = $9.99

The total value of my Bulu box is $35.23.  This is probably a great time of year to boost the vitamin C.  I've been eating mandarins from a local farm but I'm almost out. I've had the Ostrim jerky before and it was very good.  Cleanses scare me because you just don't know what kind of havoc it's going to cause on your tummy.  I looked at the PumpUp app and it looks pretty cool.  You tell it what your goals our and the type of equipment you have access to and it creates a workout for you.  When you sign up the first 30 days are free then it's $9.99 a month.  I wished I would've known that because I'm not going to be able to fully use my first 30 days during the next month.

Verdict: I'm really enjoying my Bulu boxes.  They send a nice variety of products to try.

**I am not any type sponsor paid or unpaid for Bulu Box.  I purchase these subscriptions myself.

Quarterly Co. Veronica Belmont

Quarterly Co. is a slightly different kind of subscription box company.  It's not a monthly adventure but rather quarterly.  The way it works is you pick a "contributor" you would like to receive a curated gift from pay a anywhere from $25-$100 and every 3 months you will receive your item in the mail from them.  With each box you receive the story behind it.  The curators consist of CEO's, authors, chefs, world travelers, business owners, etc.  A few months ago I signed up for Veronica Belmont's subscription.  Veronica is a self described geek from San Francisco.  Her boxes are filled with delicious and creative food options from the city by the bay.  I wasn't super excited about the first box I received only because they weren't products I was personally interested in.  The products themselves were great though and we did eat and drink them.  I didn't think it fair to judge based on one box so I didn't cancel.
The good:

Variety: There are lots of different curators to choose from.

Something different: This is definitely different from other subscription companies

Commitment issues? Don't want to make a monthly commitment but still want a treasure?  You can get a quarterly treasure.

The not so good:

Don't like waiting: If you don't like waiting this may be torture for you since they ship every 3 months.

Contents with retail price:

Bittersweet Origins Bittersweet Drinking Chocolate. Value = $12.95

5 oz. bottle Youk's Hot Sauce.  Value = $7.00

2 oz. bag of mulling spices. Value = $4.00??

The value of this box is $23.95.  I'm really excited to try the drinking chocolate.  I couldn't find any info on the mulling spices but I would price it at about $4.00.  The hot sauce looks super hot, could be because of the flaming baseball on the label.  I have accumulated quite the collection of hot sauces of the past few months so I'm going to have to start using them.  I'm kind of a weenie when it comes to spicy food so a little goes a long way for me.
Verdict: I enjoyed the stuff in this box.  Really looking forward to trying the chocolate.

**I pay for these boxes myself and not any type of sponsor paid or unpaid for Quarterly Co.

December Sample Society

Sample Society by Beauty Bar is a monthly service for beauty products that promises 5 fresh deluxe sized samples from luxury brands designed for multiple uses.  You also receive a coupon each month for $15 off a $50 purchase from Beauty Bar and a 12 month subscription to Allure magazine.  The cost for this subscription is $15.00 a month.  They recently changed they way the website works for members.  It's much more user friendly now and they include a link to the full size item should you want to buy it.

The good:

The samples: You get deluxe sized samples from luxury brands.

Information: They include a booklet with beauty tips

Magazine: You get a free 12 month subscription to Allure magazine.  If you already subscribe they will extend your subscription and if you don't want it you can mail in a form for a refund on the value ($12)

Coupon: They send you a coupon with each box for $15 off a $50 purchase.  The catch is your order has to include at least one item from a brand you received that month.  It doesn't have to be the item you received just the same brand.

Referrals: If you refer someone to their site and they make a purchase the company donates up to $30 to charity.  I thought this was a nice gesture.  My referral code is pixiepower.

The not so good:

Skip a month: There is no option to skip a month, only cancel.

My Sample Society Treasures.

Contents of box with retail value.

.10 oz. Murad age reform time release retinol concentrate. Value = $13.00 (.5 oz. $65.00)

1 oz. Philosophy Living Grace shampoo, bath & shower gel. Value = $1.38 (16 oz. $22.00) - I really like philosophy products but usually don't buy them because they can be pricey.  This had a light scenet and lathered up nicely.

FULL SIZE Vapour Organic Beauty Elixir Gloss in Sultry. Value = $20.00

.33 oz. Delaney Beauty Reserve Rejuvenating Eye Cream. Value = $34.62 (1.3 oz. $135.00)

small packet of Hanskin Super Plus Perfect BB Cream. SPF30. Value = ?? (30 ml. $33.00)

.34 oz. Hanskin Premium Perfect Super Magic BB Cream SPF30. Value = $7.50 (1.5 oz. $33.00)

coupon for $15 off a $50.00 purchase from any product of any of these brands

The total value of my Sample Society box is $76.50.  Not too bad for a $15.00 investment.  The eye cream is crazy expensive and not something I would ever buy so it's cool that I got this sample.  I enjoy Philosophy products and will use it for sure.  I keep hearing things about BB cream and have never used it before.  From what I understand it's like a foundation.

Verdict: Pretty decent box with lots of new stuff to try.

**I am not any type of sponsor paid or unpaid for Sample Society.  I pay for these subscriptions myself.
