November Gourmet Spotting Box

I can't even remember how I heard about Gourmet Spotting but I'm sure glad I did.  You guys and gals know how much I love trying new foods so this box of treasures sounded perfect for me.  I contacted Gourmet Spotting to see if they would be interested in sending me a box for review.  Sandro, one of the co-founders emailed me back and was more than happy to send me a box.  After a few emails back and forth I was super excited to get my first box, especially since Sandro mentioned he was Italian and food was his thing.  I sensed this was going to be delicious!

One of the tag lines of Gourmet Spotting is "Discover the world from your kitchen"  Love it!  They promise to send the best gourmet products from around the world, every month to your doorstep.  Sandro and Aman, the founders of  Gourmet Spotting have traveled the world exploring and eating and now they are ready to share their adventures with the world.  For $37.94 a month (the box is $29.99 plus $7.95 shipping) you will receive a box of 4 to 6 medium to full sized hand-picked gourmet products.  In addition to sending you a box of delicious treasures they also donate a meal to charity for every box they ship.  You know I'm a big fan of the meal donations so this made me very happy.

The good:

Gourmet food: Love gourmet food then you will love this.

Price: Great price to be able to try thing that aren't readily available at your local store.

Pay it Forward: They donate a meal for every box sent.

Sizes: Not just little sample sizes.  This is enough for everyone or you can keep it all for yourself.

Information: The sent a flyer (printed on nice heavy cardstock) with information on all the products.

The not so good:

Want more: They are working on a store within their website to purchase more of what you love.  With the exception of the pasta I was able to find the other items online.

Skip: The is no option to skip a month, only cancel.

This is the first Gourmet Spotting box.  Just look at all these goodies!  Fresh pasta! Truffle Oil! Chocolate!

Look at all these teas.  Loving the assortment of flavors.

Contents of box with retail price listed:

3.4 oz. Bel Frantoio 100% organic White Truffle Oil. Value = $15.00 - I can't even begin to express how delicious this is.  I put a couple of tablespoons over the Orecchiette pasta and was in love.  I could eat this all day long.

1.1 lb bag of Terre Di Murgia Orecchiette Durum Pasta from Italy. Value = $8.00-$10.00 - I couldn't find an actual price on this.  I searched high and low on the web for this product and apparently the only place that imports it is in Brooklyn N.Y and it's used in restaurants mostly. - This tasted like homemade pasta. If you've ever had fresh pasta you know what I'm talking about.  This was enough for 3 of us to have with dinner with a couple of servings left overs which I was more than willing to eat the next day.  Yep it was that good!

5 oz. Heartbreaking Dawn's Classic Gold Hot Sauce. Value = $6.99

21 teas from Harney & Sons in 7 different flavors. Value = $0.22/ea (50 ct box $11.00)

(8) 5 g 63% Cocoa chocolates from Madecasse Chocolate. Value = $0.37/ea. (80 ct $29.00) - We've had these before and I'm a big fan.  The size is perfect and they have a nice complex flavor.  The boyfriend described it as a 3 stage flavor experience and he really like them.

(8) 5 g 63% Cocoa chocolates from Madecasse Chocolate. Value = $0.37/ea. (80 ct. $29.00) - see above

The total value of the Gourmet Spotting Box is $40.53-$42.53.  I think this is great considering the products included and the meal donation.  Even with the shipping the value was still above the $38.00 price and these are amazing products.  I was super excited to see white truffle oil in the box and fresh pasta to go with it. The note about the pasta says it's imported from Italy and can be found at the best restaurants in the US.  I think I'm set for tea for awhile and this will be perfect for the holidays.  Also this particular brand of teas is served in luxury hotels like the Waldorf Astoria and the Four Seasons.  I absolutely love the selection and there is enough to share.  The hot sauce scares me a little because it's made with habanero peppers and they frighten me.  I am still going to try it and I'm picturing a nice oyster or two, or three, or six with a little dollop of hot sauce.
