December NatureBox

I put my Nature Box subscription on pause for the month of December thinking there would be plenty of food around to nibble on this month.  The nice people at Nature Box contacted me and offered to send me a box for free to review (even though I subscribe already, nice huh!).  I thought sure why not, maybe it would be better to have some healthy stuff on hand instead of being tempted by the delicious mini pecan pies that are sitting just in the other room several shorts steps away.  Yep - best not be tempted.

Nature Box is a food related monthly subscription that sends 15-20 servings of delicious snacks from 4-6 different items.  Their products contain no high fructose corn syrup, no partially hydrogenated oils, no trans fat, no artificial sweeteners, flavors or colors.  The cost for this subscription is $19.95 shipping included.  In addition for every Nature Box sent out they donate a meal through Feeding America.  This month the theme of the box is Our Favorite Snacks.
The good:

Good for you: You get snacks for you and your family that are good for you.

Variety: There is something for everyone, fruit, nuts, rice crackers.

Skip a month: Yes you can skip a month or have your box sent to a friend.  The not so good is you have to call in order to do this.  There is no online option for this feature but they are working on it.

Need a gift: You can send a 3, 6 or 12 month gift subscription.  Perfect for college students, frequent travelers, moms, singles, really anyone!

The not so good:

Customize: The boxes aren't customizable...yet. The company is working on a feature where you can choose which snacks you want in your box.  This will be cool.

Want more: Love you snack and want to order more?  Currently they don't have an option to purchase more but they are working on making that a possibility.

My Nature Box Treasures.

Contents of my Nature Box:

(3) 1/4 cup servings of Pistachio Power Clusters. - These are crunchy and slightly sweet.  They have 3 different kinds of nuts in them, almonds, cashews and pistachios.

3 servings of Dried Pears

2 oz/2 serving bag Lemon Pucker Pistachios

(3) 3/4 cup servings Wild Blueberry Flax Granola

(5) 1/3 cup servings Masa Crisps

Recipe for Slow Cooker Tortilla Soup from MOMables - garnish with Masa Crisps

The nice thing about this box is it gives you an idea of what to expect and what they offer.  Its hard to determine a value of the products because there is so much variation in this type of food.  I looked at a couple of organic dried fruit items online and they were about $4.50 a bag.  I know when I've purchased nuts before in a package or bulk it's about $3-$5 depending on the brand, etc.  What I received this month works out to be $4.00 a bag and I think that's pretty average for these type of snacks. I like that that send a variety of items because I enjoy the mixed nuts items but the boyfriend is more of a dried fruit kind guy.

Verdict: Great variety of items and great healthy snacks.

I am not any type of sponsor paid or unpaid for Nature Box.  This box was send to me free of charge for review purposes.  This does not affect my opinion of the product.

  1. I've been wanting to try this one, but I'm going to wait until they make it more customizable. They seem to include a lot of nut products. I'm not allergic or anything. I just hate nuts, period.

    1. I'm looking forward to the customization also. My boyfriend also doesn't like nuts so he eats the fruit bags and I eat the nuts.

  2. I have really enjoyed Nature Box but I did cancel to try other subscriptions. Now that I'm only subscribed to Ipsy I would consider re-subscribing to Nature Box. We've gotten some amazingly yummy snacks! LOVE granola so I'm always excited when we got granola.

  3. I unsubscribed from NatureBox due to a tight budget, but just restarted when i saw the December box had lemon pucker pistachios. Honestly, I would order these every month if they had such a service.

    1. It is a little pricey BUT so convenient! I've heard they are going to start allowing people to customize their boxes in the near future. I think this will boost business for sure!

    2. I agree. That is exactly why I started back up...that and seeing your reviews of all their wonderful goodies every month. It is definitely more convenient (and a nice surprise) to have NatureBox send you a solid supply of healthy snacks than try to get such variety myself through stores. I am really excited about the customization and yes, I made sure my January box included lemon pistachios.

    3. I can't find my lemon pistachios! Either someone ate them already or they are hiding in my way too full pantry. I think I'm going to need to do some investigating.
