Sepetember Conscious Box - Vegan

Conscious box is a subscription service I had been looking at for a while now but never subscribed.  They offer a box full of pure and sustainable products each month.  These boxes contain a wide variety of items from food to beauty products to household goodies.  The price is $12 a month plus $7.95 shipping which makes is $19.95 a month.  They also have a 3 month plan for $56.85 ($18.95 a box) or a 6 month plan for $111.70 (18.61 a box). Honestly the shipping cost is what always prevented me from signing up.  I think it's a mind trick thing because if they said $19.95 a month with free shipping that sounds better than $12 and shipping is $8 which is 2/3 the cost of the box.
I happen to find a deal through Plum District which is website that offers deals on various products.  It's much like Groupon and Living Social. It's completely free to sign up and they send you emails announcing the newest deal they are offering.  I've purchased several deals through Plum District and would highly recommend signing up! The deal was $20 for 3 months of their new vegan conscious box plus $7.95 shipping per box.  Basically I paid $43.85 for 3 months making it $14.62 a box and saved $16.  I figured for $15 it was worth trying.

The good:

Variety: You get a wide variety of items and the box was packed!

Vegan: If your vegan the vegan box is great for you.

The not so good:

The price: It's on the high side for subscription boxes but I would consider this a specialty box for sure.

Skip: Currently no option to skip a month

This is the actual box.  It has a cute little window frame cut-out. On the other side is a postcard attached to the box with information about veganism.  The guy on the postcard is Brendan Brazier, he is a professional Ironman triathlete and two time Canadian 50km Ultra Marathon Champion AND most importantly he's vegan.  Now I'm not vegan by any means but I totally respect that this man can be such an amazing athlete and only eats a vegan diet.

Wow that's a lot of goodies!

Contents of box w/retail price listed:

.21 oz. packet C3 for Stress Sugar Free effervescent lemon lime drink mix. Value = $0.99 (5pk on sale for $4.95 on their website)

1 oz. bag Funky Monkey Purple Funk Banana with Acai dried fruit. Value $3.19 - I'm not a fan of dried bananas.  What I liked about this though is it has 3 servings of fruit in each bag.

.5 oz. Kelapo Virgin Coconut Oil. Value = $1.05 (10 pk $10.49)

3.5 oz. packet of Coco Milk in Orange Mango by Happy Squeeze. Value = $1.69

.75 oz (1 load) Vaska lavender laundry detergent. Value = $0.32 (21 oz bottle $8.99) - I used them on a load of towels.  When I took them out of the washer I could smell a faint lavender smell.  After drying I couldn't smell the lavender at all but my towels seemed really fluffy. could the detergent have fluffed them? hmmm

(2) 5 g. Madecasse chocolate squares 80% cocoa. Value = $0.36/ea (80 ct box $29.00) - I love dark chocolate and this was tasty.  If you order some be sure and don't order when the weather is hot.  Mine had melted and when chocolate melts it gets what's called bloom which is a horrible sounding name for turning the chocolate a whitish color.  It's still edible it just looks ugly.

1 tee-bag Teeccino caffeine free Hazelnut Coffee. Value = $0.80 (10 pk $7.99)

1 tee-bag Teeccino caffeine free Vanilla Nut Coffee. Value = $0.80 (10 pk $7.99) - This was pretty good.  It tasted just like a cross between coffee and tea but not in a weird way.  I liked this very much.

(2) .066 oz. 100% pure Cabernet Grape Nourishing Body Cream. Value = $0.13/ea (8 oz. $15.00) - This smelled like grape juice, yummy!  It was nice and thick but didn't leave me feeling greasy.  I enjoyed it.

.6 oz. packet Vega Sport Pre-workout Energizer powder mix in lemon lime flavor. Value = $2.49

1 7x8 Clean Well disinfectant wipe lemon citrus scent. Value = $0.43 (10 pk. $4.29)

.15 oz. Hurraw! coconut lip balm. Value = $3.79

1 oz bottle of Ancient Minerals Magnesium oil body spray. Value = $3.63 (8oz. bottle $29.00)

.5 oz single serve packet Artisana Gojo & Milk Thistle organic nut butter. Value = $1.49 - I put this on a toasted english muffin.  It was weird, it tasted like nuts but not like a but I recognized.  I'd eat it again.

1.05 oz packet (brews 6 cups) Teeccino caffeine free French Roast coffee. Value = $2.50

The value of my vegan conscious box is $24.15.  To recap the regular price of this box is $19.95. This box was packed FULL of stuff to try.  This is very similar to Eco-Emi in that it's filled with eco-conscious items and it's a wide variety from beauty, to home to food.  I love that!   I am really glad I was able to try the laundry detergent because I would buy that again.  The coconut lip balm sounds delicious.  The teeccino was very good.  I keep reading things about magnesium and how it's super good for you and pretty much everyone is deficient in it so I'll give that a try.

Verdict: This is a great little box and worth the price paid!

**I am not any type of sponsor paid or unpaid for Conscious Box.  I purchase these subscriptions myself.

  1. Looks cool, just wish the price wasn't so high! :( Compared to the other beauty boxes that cost $10 or $12 a month with free shipping, this is a little pricey.

    1. I agree with you on the price. The value is good and the products are nice but the closer you get to the $20 the scarier it is to take a chance. Eco-Emi is $15 and they have very similar type of items. What I like about both eco-emi and conscious box is the variety. If you strictly looking for beauty products though then other boxes are far more wallet friendly.

  2. I have gotten Conscious Box for the past several months and love them! The only one I was disappointed in was the September REGULAR box. I ended up snagging one of the leftover Vegan boxes and LOVED the coffee-tea hybrids, so so so delicious. I also LOVE Vaska (they really do make stuff clean and fluffy!) and 100% Pure.

The banana-acai chips were actually really tasty to me. I didn't think I'd like them but I liked the texture and crunch of them (so did my baby boy!). And surprisingly that coconut drink was also good. Hubby didn't like it but baby boy and I did!

    1. Joy - I'm liking the coffee tea drinks as well. I haven't tried making the big pouch that makes a whole pot of coffee but the single teecchino bags are tasty. I'm going to have to buy me some Vaska. I can't believe how fluffy my towels were!

  3. Excellent feedback on the Conscious Box. I purchased the same deal through Plum District so I'll be checking my mailbox daily. I realized quickly that the deal was for the Vegan box. I am not vegan either (but respect the choice) so I contacted Customer Service and they happily switched me to the regular subscription. Based on Joy's comment, I am hoping the September box comes vegan and the remaining boxes are regular. Love reading your reviews!
