Beauty Box 5 August

Beauty Box 5 is a monthly subscription service for beauty products including makeup, skin care, fragrances, nail care, body care, beauty tool and just about anything else beauty related.  Each month you receive 4-5 samples of beauty related items.  They have three ways to subscribe.  You can pay monthly for $12 a month, or quarterly $30 which brings the price down to $10 a month or yearly for $100 which brings the price down to $8.33 a month.  Shipping is included in these prices.

The good:

The brands.  Well known brands including some eco-friendly ones.

The pricing structure.  I like the options they have, monthly, quarterly and yearly.  Even the quarterly gives you a little bit of a discount.

Like surprises? Boxes ship out on the 15th of every month and you never know what's going to be in it.  I like surprises so this is a positive for me.  Also since this ships out in the middle of the month you get a little treasure towards the end of the month.  Most monthlies ship at the beginning.

Information: They have started including an information cards on the products in the boxes which I love

The not so good:

Skip a month. Currently there is no option for this.  If you want to skip you have to cancel.

Contents of July box.  Full Size price and size listed in parenthesis.

3 Blum Naturals makeup remover towelettes. Value = $0.40/ea (10 pk $3.99) - These weren't to impressive.  I had to use an eye makeup remover liquid in addition to this to remove my mascara.

.13 oz. H2O Plus Eye Cream. Value = $8.53 (.5 oz. $32.00)

.03 oz. Ferro Cosmetics Sheer Crystal Veil. Value = $4.13 (.14 oz. $19.00)

Full Size Ellis Faas milky lips in color L209. Value $35.00 - The color is brownish and it does leave your lips shiny.  It's not too sticky but I'm still iffy on it.

.25 oz. ?? Dermaesthetics USA Vitamin C20 serum. Value = $36.00 (1oz. $144.00)

The total value of the box is $84.06.  I'm not sure about the Ferro cosmetics item.  I opened the container and it's extremely messy because the powder is so fine.  I'll need to find a small brush to fit in the container to use it.  The container for the lip glaze is super pretty and I'm hoping it's not sticky like some glazes tend to be.  I'm a little overloaded on eye cream right now so it might be awhile before I use this.

Verdict: I'm going to continue with this subscription because paid for the year and I like the variety of items received.

**I pay for these services myself and am not any type of sponsor paid or unpaid for Beauty Box 5.

  1. If you hadn't paid for the year, would you continue subscription?

    1. Good quesion - I would lean towards no and here's why. The value is good but overall the products aren't my favorite. The good thing is it's allowed me to try brands I've been curious about without paying full or a high price. My plan is to re-evaluate all my subsciptions after the year is up and decide which ones really worked out for me in terms of price and products received.
