July PopSugar Must Have Bag

The PopSugar Must Have Bag is probably one of the most anticipated new subscription services this summer.  The price is kind of steep at $35 (shipping included) a month but at the initial offering they said it would include full size products worth over $150.00.  Wow!, no wonder people were signing up.  Sadly after people signed up they changed the the description which now says you will receive a variety of full size products worth over $100 (based on MSRP and subject to change without notice).  Now $100 worth of product for $35 is still a great deal but that's a little shady to change the value after people already signed up.  Someone I know sent them an email about them misleading people and changing the price and they replied "...Our sincerest apologies for any confusion.  We did change the subscription value listed on our site, as we realized that it could vary slightly from month to month.  We wanted to make sure that we weren't misleading, as you noted, and would rather surprise customers when the value is higher than expected. We've put a lot of thought into next month's box, which will include more product and brand variety based on initial feedback from launch partners like you.  The box themes are refreshed every month, and August will be completely different than July."  Interesting.....

The good:

Products: Full size products as promised.

Pricing structure: They have monthly, 3, 6 and yearly subscriptions.  Each one (except monthly) saves you a little bit of money.

Referrals: The offer a generous referral program.  Refer 2 people get a month free.  5 people 3 months free and 10 people is 6 months free.

The not so good:

The bait and switch:  They should have given the customers who had signed up under the premise of $150 value box to cancel their orders instead of just changing it to $100 and not saying anything.  They do have a first box guarantee meaning if you're not satisfied they will refund your money on the first box.

Variety: They sent 8 items but some were 2 items from the same brand - different color or flavor maybe but still 2.  I would rather get different items.  For instance if you send me a nail polish I can evaluate it based on that one color I don't need a different color to tell you if I like the formulation or not.

This is inside of the box when you open it.

I opened the box and it looked like a canvas tote bag of some sort with all my goodies wrapped inside.

All the treasures!!

Contents of box with value listed, all products are full size:

6 oz. Body Drench Raspberry Gelee Body Scrub. value $12.00

8 oz. Body Drench Pomegranate Crush Body Lotion. value $14.00

.40 oz. RGB Nail Polish in "Minty". value $16.00

.40 oz. RGB Nail Polish in "Doll". value $16.00

.12 oz. Ilia Tinted lip conditioner in "Bang Bang". value $24.00

.12 oz Ilia lip stick in "In My Room". value $24.00

1.4 oz. Kind Nuts and Spices Madagascar Vanilla Almond bar. value $1.49 - very good, I would buy this again!

1.4 oz. Kind Nuts and Spices Cashew & Ginger Spice bar. value $1.49 - pretty good except the ginger was really strong.

PopSugar Canvas Bag with pockets inside for cell phone, etc.  value $5.00 (guessing)

PopSugar Book tear off book mark on description card. value $0.00

The total value of this first PopSugar must have bag is $113.98.  While it's an incredible value I'm not super excited about the products.  I wish they would've sent more variety.  I don't need two lipsticks or two nail polishes.  I would rather have had something else like an eyeliner or sunscreen (since it's a summer beach themed bag).  The canvas bag is actually pretty nice and sturdy and even has pockets inside to keep money or cell phone.  I will enjoy the Kind bars because they are always a tasty and healthy snack to have around.  I'm sort of overloaded with nail polish and lip stuff right now but I'm sure I'll get to it eventually.

Verdict: The first PopSugar bag wasn't as exciting as I hoped. I signed up for a 3 month subscription so hopefully their promise of a better August comes true.

**I am not any type of sponsor paid or unpaid for PopSugar.  I pay for these subscriptions myself.
