April Blissmo Box

My April Blissmo box arrived last weekend.  I was really looking forward to this months box because the one I choose was hellooo, morning.  It promised to be filled with item to start your day.  Sounded good to me.
For those of you new here welcome to my blog and let me tell you a little about Blissmo box.  Blissmo is a monthly subscription service geared toward organic & eco products that are described as safer and better for you.  Each month they offer different boxes which vary based on themes or seasons.  You can see my April here.  The cost is $19 plus $3 shipping. Last month there was a notice on their website saying due to rising fuel costs the price of the boxes would be going up for new members at the end of the month.  I haven't seen any increase though.  The company advertises that you will receive between $19-$40 worth of items for your $22. So far the highest dollar amount I've received is $24.70 (last month) I'm hoping I will get a little closer to the $30 mark this month.

The good:
Like trying new things but not sure what to try? This is a good start to trying new products without being overwhelmed.
Variety: They offer different boxes not just food.  I've seen some that had items for baby in them.

Infomation: They include a card with information about the company and their products. Also on the card they list the value of each item received, I really like this.
The price: $22 (with shipping) isn't horrible for having good for you products delivered to your door. The bad part would be if you absolutely don't use something in the box. Then you would "lose" money on it.

The not so good:
Skip a month? yes you can skip a month but they still charge you.  So if you skip April you will still be charged but will able to pick two boxes in May.  If your skipping the month in order to save money this doesn't work.  If you are going to pay for the box you might as well receive it right? Of course if none of the boxes appeal to you then you aren't forced to waste the money.  I think it would be easier for customers to have the option to skip the month and not be charged.

Here is my May box

Below are the contents of the box (retail price listed in parenthesis)

Manitoba Harvest Hemp Hearts 2 oz. ($2.99) - added it to my greek yogurt.  It added texture to it without making it weird or adding flavor. The package says they are good for you but doesn't say why.  I've heard they are a good source of proten and Omega-6

Coupon for free Siggi's yogurt and a cute wooden spoon ($2.69)

Go Raw Spirilina energy bar ($1.19) - I didn't care much for this at all.  It just had that "too healthy" taste.

Go Raw Real live flax bar ($1.19) - This wasn't bad for healthy.  The apricot flavor was really good.  If you want to get some flax in your diet this wouldn't be a bad way to do it.

Mayesa cacao original chocolate drink 8 fl. oz. ($2.00) - This was ok,  it had a slight bitter undertaste to it.  I prefer the taste of Silk Dark Chocolate Almond milk but the Mayesa cacao has more fiber, less sugar and more protein so overall it's better for you.  I could see purchasing these every now and then.

Slice of life energy blend B12 gummy vitamins 60 count ($19.99) - very good, soft, chewy and taste like cherry

Somersault Snacks Pacific Sea Salt sunflower seed snack 1 oz ($0.99) - I liked these. they were crunchy and had to sweet, salty flavor happening

Upfront Foods Totally Nutty Granola 1.4oz. ($1.75) - I was really hungry so I ate this plain.  It was a good snack but probably would've been a lot better in yogurt.

The retail value of my box was $32.79, which is $10.70 more than I paid.  I was thrilled the company hit the $30 mark this month.  I'm hoping I can find the yogurt at my normal shopping places (Nugget, Sprouts).  I'm curious to try the spirilina bar, I hear that stuff is good for you.

**I pay for these services myself and am not any type of sponsor paid or unpaid for Blissmo**
